Visiting the Diverse Traditional Houses of East Nusa Tenggara

in Worldmappin6 days ago

Hello everyone, how are you? I hope you're all well. I recently visited the East Nusa Tenggara Pavilion. In Indonesia, several places have become very popular for tourism. One of them is East Nusa Tenggara. Have I ever been there? Of course, I haven't.

East Nusa Tenggara is home to many ethnic groups, each with striking differences. The most striking feature is the traditional houses. Some of the well-known ethnic groups here are Alor, Lio, Manggarai, Sumba, Helong, Solor, Ngada and Rote.

Because it is known as a province with many ethnicities, this province is known for its high diversity, and this is what makes it so appealing. There are also many other tourist attractions to visit, including Komodo Island, Lake Kalimutu, and other natural attractions. The most famous is Komodo Island.

The pavilion features several traditional houses from East Nusa Tenggara, offering a welcoming and meaningful cultural touch. Each of these traditional houses is unique and has its own unique meaning. The first building is the traditional house of the Ende Sa'o Ria tribe. This traditional house features a glass display case displaying traditional clothing from regencies and cities in East Nusa Tenggara.

Here, traditional items are also on display, including woven palm leaf crafts, coconut shell crafts, and woven fabrics with various motifs, including patola, sasando, and siwalan palm leaf motifs. There are even wedding attire and traditional musical instruments, including drums and gongs.

There is also a traditional Rote house, featuring a more modern take on the Sasando traditional dress and a depiction of the Ti'i Langga hat, a typical hat from Rote Ndao Regency, displayed on the roof. There is also a traditional Alor house, displaying the ceremonial attire of the Raja tribe and various scarves. There is also a house from Sumba Regency in East Sumba called Uma Mbatangu.

This place is home to many traditional houses, as the province has many ethnic groups, and therefore many traditional houses are on display. The most interesting feature of this place is the traditional house of Ngada Regency, the Sao Ngada. Why is it so interesting? Because this traditional house displays the authenticity of its traditional houses. It's exactly the same as those found in East Nusa Tenggara.

In fact, every traditional house in Indonesia is largely made of wood. This traditional house, including this one, is made of wood and has a thatched roof. To this day, this traditional house still serves as the residence of the Ngada people. In fact, it serves as a venue for traditional ceremonies. From its construction perspective, this traditional house displays a rich architectural style, distinct from other buildings.

In this province, there are five traditional houses used solely for storing rice. This reflects the richness of Indonesian culture and traditions. Fortunately, Taman Mini Indonesia (Indonesian Miniature Park) is here to introduce you to this unique culture. That's all I can tell you. See you in the next story.
