Travel Digest #1214

Introduction

Hi everyone @LivingUKTaiwan here with the latest edition of the #TravelDigest. Today two of our Top 3 posts are from USA, a bit of a rarity as we don't get as many posts from America as I thought we would. Hopefully folks from USA will show us around more in future. The other Top 3 post is from Turkey. Enjoy!

All featured posts are visible on the Editors Choice Map and upvoted by @pinmapple, @blocktrades, @theycallmedan and the curation trail. For more travel digests check out #traveldigest.

Our winners today 🍍

🥇 Rambling Round Red River Gorge by @coloneljethro

"One minute the trail would be headed steeply downhill, the next you were going uphill on a similarly steep grade. I had a blast, it was much like hiking along the creek that runs through my homeplace, following it down to the Kentucky River we would traverse very similar terrain. There was so much to see from and along the trail even without the arch at the end it'd be worth the hike."

🥈 Around the Sea of Marmara - exciting Ancient Ephesus by @zirochka

"Strict lockdown in Turkey at the end of April turned out to be another unexpected advantage for this trip. When we saw the latest photos from Ephesus a couple of weeks after returning, the streets of the city resembled human rivers. Ephesus is one of the most visited cities in the world. And there were so few people on our visit that I probably still remember them all in person."

🥉 Great Falls, Where the Potomac River gets Wild by @dabeckster

"Just a short distance out of Washington D.C., there is a section of the Potomac River where the river shows its wild side. After meandering slowly through the hills separating Virginia, Maryland, and West Virginia countryside, about 14 miles west of Washington D.C., the river goes through a few miles of elevation drop, creating waterfalls and rapids that look like something you’d see in Colorado, not the D.C. suburbs."
