Hello all fellow travelers.
Every now and then I manage to share here something I visit these days, in fact I am in the town of Asiago in the Vicentine Prealps, a very famous place touristically in Italy, but also frequented by many foreign tourists, so certainly known all over the world.
In the day yesterday I went to visit together with a friend two forts, yes because in this area took place the two world wars, especially the one of the First World War, so this area is full of historical sites inherent to the war.
The first fort I visited is Fort Corbin, practically now turned into a museum, and they even made a bar inside.
This fort was built by the Italian army in the border with the Austro-Hungarian Empire and is about 1,000 meters above sea level.
From up there you practically have a panorama of the whole Val D'Astico, in fact it was an excellent military lookout post.
It is the largest fort in the area, and inside as I told you there is a large museum of the Great War, with pictures of the various uniforms that were used during the various war seasons by the Italian army , and also the various artifacts that have been found in the area, bombs, weapons and much more.
Even today there are researchers of these finds who go around the mountain to find these objects.
I must tell you that going into these places always makes me a little anxious, but it is good to remember the history even if a page to forget of my country, because so many boys died up here in those years.
It was good to see this museum, because that's how you understood what happened in those years.
After visiting this beautiful fort I went to visit a smaller one, it is called Fort Campolongo, this one is located a bit higher in fact it was built at 1700 meters.
This one unlike the other one was restored thanks to European funds, for the recovery of these historical ecomuseums.
It was built by the Italian army but was lost during the conflict and ended up in Austrican hands and because of that it was also badly damaged by mortar shells.
Also from this place you can see a beautiful view of the valley, too bad from my point of view that even here there is no museum, at least to explain the history of this place, no signs, so I had to go to the internet to understand something.
As I said before it's important to tour these places, because this is where you see the ugly aspect of the wars, and I hope school groups come here, because it's the new generations that need to understand this.
I hope this post of mine was interesting, and you enjoyed my photos as well, below I will leave you the references to find these interesting spots in the maps, in case maybe you happen to be on vacation in Italy.
It only remains for me to thank you for reading to the end these words of mine, and see you in the next post!
Bye!!!
