Siri Yangu "Our Secret" in San Remigio, Cebu Philippines

in Pinmapple2 years ago

It was the most expensive weekend getaway of my life! But I dare say, it was worth every penny.

To help place things in my perspective, I wanna start off by saying that the most expensive getaways I've been to only cost me ~200 USD for 5 days. This would've included food and entrance fees to tourist attractions. Some trips are more expensive, I know. But if you only knew me in person, my reaction would make sense 😂 This trip, excluding the transportation fee (because our dear friend drove us there) cost me ~140 USD for 2 days and 1 night only! The frugal self would've said no in a heartbeat.

So why did I say yes to this trip? I'll tell you in a bit, so please... indulge me in this trip down memory lane. From the city, it took a full-on 96 km and about 2 hours and 37 minutes to get to our destination. This was our route:

Going this way made it easier for us stopover at the Sea Salt Cafe and San Remegio Beach Club.

Sea Salt Cafe served us breakfast with a view. It was a nice stopover! I had a siomai and chicharon bowl for myself while my girls had the perfect combo of puto, sikwate, and mango. But I don't recommend the former unless you want soggy pork cracklings; try the puto sikwate pair instead 😉

I was to have my online MBA Class scheduled at 9:00 am that day. So what was I to do when it was already time and we were still in the car on the way to San Remegio Beach Club? Of course, the obvious thing to do was join the class while still in transit. While this was a logical thing to do, wall climbing and ziplining while in class weren't 🤣 And I did both!

Still listening to prof but took a moment to pose with @proteancreator and @anneporter before ziplining

With all the things going on in the world now, I wanted to reminisce the good times, you know. Life can take a 180-degree turn from here. I take inspiration from Nightbirde when she said...

You can't wait until life isn't hard anymore before you decide to be happy.

Now that I have this moment to myself, I wanted to go back to the place that gave me momentary peace and fuzzy feelings. The idea of taking this trip was initiated by our dear friend, Juli. She was our pole instructor who quickly became more than that after a few years of friendship. She fought breast cancer a few months before this trip. I wanted to celebrate life with her because you know, it could be our last. Please let me be sentimental this time. This was primarily the reason why I said yes.

She sent me pictures of the interior of the place and told me that two of my friends were already going. It looked so good and upon hearing the price of a one-night stay there, I almost backed off. I said to her, "Let me think about it for a while." I was really the kuripot (frugal) type of person. I then told myself, "We're all going to die anyway, might as well have fun while we're alive!" And just like that, I forgot about my frugal self 🤣!

The clear waters and the sea breeze screamed "Paradise"

The place looked like it was cut out straight from a vacation magazine. It was insanely beautiful. Check-in time starts at around 2 pm. We arrived at around 12 nn, so we still had time to tour the place. We immediately went to the beachfront and we saw this beauty.

Insanely beautiful

We wasted no time and went into full picture-taking mode right away 😅 We were a bit hungry as it was already lunchtime, the resort staff offered some fruits and refreshments but we were still hungry. They said that a "proper" dinner will be served at around 6 pm, so we just napped our hunger away. We were in Siri Yangu to take part in a Yoga Retreat hosted by Love Yoga World. Hence, the reason for the meal schedule. If you come in as guests, I think meals can be arranged accordingly too.

The infinity pool overlooking the horizon

After our light snack, the girls decided to change into their bikinis to get ready to swim. I, on the other hand, still had a class at 1 PM. Going to class overlooking an infinity pool was definitely a first for me. It felt like I was Sharpay Evans in High School Musical doing the Music Video for Fabulous 🤣 My girls took this time to nap and take 🔥 pictures.

Siri Yangu's House #1

Aside from yoga retreats, Siri Yangu also hosts weddings. They have houses like these that have 3-5 rooms available for guests to check in. The rooms were amazing! The interior and the bathroom made @proteancreator ask herself "Do I deserve this?" She was overwhelmed. I mean, who wouldn't be? Each house comes with a dining room and a kitchen. In our case, the organizers hired chefs to prepare our meals. I think the resort can also recommend their own cooks to facilitate meals.

As we waited for the Yoga Retreat activities to start, we just enjoyed being with nature and we took a dip in the pool right after. When we 4 were together, @anneporter said "This right here is my most favorite part of this trip." Little did we know, the night was still young.

Thank you for taking the time to read all the way through! Please look out for the next part of this series. I will be sharing about our yoga retreat experience. We made plenty of memories in Siri Yangu. Most of which will probably remain "Our Secret."
