Sorry for not being born with twenty years of work experience [ESP – ENG]

Greetings to all members of the community, how are you? There are times when you get to wonder what is going on with employers these days, because you don't get to understand their way of thinking in relation to hiring new employees in their businesses. We young people want answers as to why they don't want to give us jobs when we don't have work experience and if we do have work experience it is not enough by their standards, yet they say they are looking for young people who are eager to learn... who could help me understand this? I don't know if this is a situation that occurs as normal in countries other than Venezuela, but I have come to see many jokes and memes on social networks related to work experience around Latin America.

This is a famous meme in Latin America.

In the vast majority of jobs they ask for work experience, adding to the requirements that horrible word 'verifiable' which implies not only indicating the place where you were working, but also contact numbers so they can make sure you are not making up anything. I was looking for a job as a cashier for this reason since I have a cousin who was lucky enough to be hired in a store without the need for work experience, but most of them have told me that I need to have a minimum of one year of verifiable work experience handling the programs that are used in the cash registers which I personally consider that they have no science and with a few days of practice can be mastered.

So they want to have a young person who in several opportunities is not because they have more energy to perform at work, but because they are an easy target to be taken advantage of by increasing their hours without any extra monetary compensation, but they want them to have years of verifiable work experience, which in turn they do not have precisely because employers do not give them work because they do not meet the necessary requirements, meaning having verifiable work experience. This sets up a vicious cycle that can only be broken when someone takes pity on a young person willing to learn by giving them the opportunity to get the job without the requirement of verifiable work experience.

The image states: When an employer wants 20-year-old employees with 10 years of experience.

This could be an example of the grace of meaninglessness, because it just doesn't make sense the way employers think, if no one wants to give work because you don't have verifiable work experience then how is anyone going to have verifiable work experience? You need someone to give work in the first place to comment with collecting experience, but I assume they are always waiting for someone else to do it, someone else to take a chance. This is not to mention those who want young people for jobs with an incredible amount of years of experience, as if the months of gestation in our mother's womb should be put to better use and being born without verifiable work experience will weigh us down for the rest of our lives.

The requirements to opt for a job are necessary, but sometimes I think that employers are simply picky without any justification, to be a cashier I don't think you need so much experience handling a cash register, it is not about quantum physics nor are we going to try to discover the secrets of the universe through marking the prices of products. I have even seen advertisements about businesses looking for young people for the cleaning area, but then when you read the requirements they want up to fifteen years of verifiable work experience in the sector... I don't know what they call young, but for someone who is twenty-five years old to have that amount of years of experience is impossible.

Thank you very much for reading my publication, I hope to meet you here in the next opportunity.

Haha that second meme got me laughing really hard 😅 well, that is what happens when they want experienced young people.

It doesn't happen only in Venezuela, it's everywhere especially my country

I honestly don't know what they mean by young and 20 years of experience 🥲

Maybe we should have been working while in our mother's womb... I think that justifies it 🤔

But who will employ us without experience in our mother's womb? 😂😂

The second meme is a gem, there are also several of the same style, especially of mechanics.

The truth is that I don't understand what's wrong with them, but since they are the ones who have the power to decide who to hire, we can only play by their rules.

Should I reproach my mother for not enrolling me in a practical cashier's course while I was in her womb? It seems like it.

Thank you very much for reading and commenting.

Haha it sure does seem like it 😅
Too bad, it is our sad reality today

A 20 years old employee with 10 years of experience. That's funny 😄 😆. Unfortunately, this is not merely a joke but the employers do make non-sense requirement to be fulfilled.

Perhaps it is time for them to realize that they should also sacrifice something, if they want youth they will not have years of experience, and if they have, not as many as they would like. Balance the scales a little.

Certainly. A balance is needed

All this employees looking for a job, they will be liaring so they will get a job😂😂
