El doloroso confinamiento que vivimos a consecuencia de la pandemia terminó por enseñarnos nuevas formas de hacer las cosas, en ese camino, vislumbramos lo que nos depara el futuro de cara a los nuevos modelos de aprendizaje. Aprendimos entonces, que existen de manera efectiva y eficiente otros métodos alternativos para la formación académica de nuestros hijos. Paralela a la educación tradicional, en la que nuestros hijos acuden a las aulas de clases, emerge la educación en el hogar (Homeschooling), en la que los padres también somos protagonistas.
En torno a ambos métodos de educativos, han surgido aspectos a favor y en contra. Para algunos, la educación tradicional alude a la obsolescencia en los planes formativos, para otros, el homeschooling propicia el aislamiento social de los niños.
En mi experiencia, considero que ambos pueden coexistir de manera equilibrada aprovechando sus ventajas en beneficio del aprendizaje de nuestros hijos, y esto lo digo, porque si bien la educación tradicional trae consigo décadas de experiencia, en ocasiones termina anclada a temas que ya han evolucionado, es allí donde ganan terreno las propuestas emergentes de la educación autodidacta y a distancia, que terminan enfocadas en la enseñanza práctica de lo que verdaderamente hoy demanda la sociedad, las empresas, o las instituciones.
The painful confinement we experienced as a result of the pandemic ended up teaching us new ways of doing things, and along the way, we glimpsed what the future holds for us in terms of new learning models. We learned that there are effective and efficient alternative methods for the academic education of our children. Parallel to traditional education, in which our children go to the classroom, Homeschooling emerges, in which parents are also protagonists.
Aspects for and against both educational methods have arisen. For some, traditional education alludes to obsolescence in educational plans; for others, homeschooling favors the social isolation of children.
In my experience, I believe that both can coexist in a balanced way, taking advantage of their advantages for the benefit of our children's learning, and I say this because although traditional education brings with it decades of experience, sometimes it ends up anchored to topics that have already evolved, and that is where the emerging proposals of self-taught and distance education gain ground, which end up focused on the practical teaching of what society, companies, or institutions truly demand today.
Ante el argumento del aislamiento social, considero que el Homeschooling bien practicado, puede ser incluso positivo, pues propicia el networking, lo que lejos de aislarlos, los conecta con personas de todo el mundo, dándoles la oportunidad de aprender nuevas culturas. Adicionalmente, el estudio autodidacta desarrolla en el estudiante responsabilidad y autocontrol, dejando claro que de él dependerá la efectiva gestión del tiempo. Insisto, con esto no resto valor e importancia a la educación presencial, reconozco sus beneficios y aportes en el desarrollo cognitivo y social de los niños.
Bajo nuestra mentoría, o no, nuestros hijos hoy se ven seducidos por el nuevo modelo educativo online, eso lo vemos cuando prefieren estudiar inglés en Duolingo antes que atender de repente a la metodología de la profesora del colegio, o cuando terminan por ver un videotutorial en youtube antes que seguir el paso a paso del manual que sugirió el docente. Entiendo que hay mucha controversia al respecto; sin embargo, yo apoyo absolutamente esta tendencia sin desmeritar el aprendizaje tradicional, por ello apuesto irrestrictamente a la coexistencia de ambas.
Faced with the argument of social isolation, I believe that Homeschooling, if well practiced, can even be positive, because it promotes networking, which far from isolating them, connects them with people from all over the world, giving them the opportunity to learn new cultures. Additionally, self-study develops responsibility and self-control in the student, making it clear that effective time management will depend on it. I insist, on this, I do not diminish the value and importance of face-to-face education, I recognize its benefits and contributions to the cognitive and social development of children.
Under our mentorship, or not, our children today are seduced by the new online educational model, we see that when they prefer to study English in Duolingo rather than suddenly attend to the methodology of the school teacher, or when they end up watching a video tutorial on youtube rather than following the step by step manual suggested by the teacher. I understand that there is a lot of controversy about this; however, I absolutely support this trend without detracting from traditional learning, so I am absolutely in favor of the coexistence of both.
En estos momentos que estamos en pleno período vacacional, he notado con agrado que mis hijos muestran interés en tomar cursos que les enseñen nuevas habilidades, muchas de las cuales no forman parte del pensum de estudio de sus colegios, pero que seguramente serán determinantes en su futuro laboral, considerando las nuevas tendencias y las nuevas demandas de soluciones. Hoy en día, los niños comprenden la importancia de aprender un nuevo idioma, desarrollar aptitudes técnicas, dominar nuevas herramientas tecnológicas; y no solo comprenden lo favorable de dominar estos temas, sino que son una esponja para absorber el conocimiento y ponerlo en práctica.
Por ejemplo, por mencionar un tema, muy común para nosotros, la tecnología blockchain. En esta era todo apunta a la adopción masiva de la tecnología blockchain a futuro, todo apunta también a que el dinero digital seguirá ganando protagonismo hasta desplazar al dinero fiat. La tendencia es clara con respecto a lo que nuestros hijos vivirán, por ende, es importante que estén preparados para hacerle frente a esa realidad, y eso pasa indiscutiblemente por educarse en esas nuevas áreas.
Lamentablemente, este tipo de formación no la van a conseguir ahora mismo en sus escuelas con sus profesores de siempre, este tipo de conocimientos lo van adquirir gracias al homeschooling, a la educación guiada desde casa, a la educación autodidacta que viene dada en cursos en línea, apps educativas, podcasts, videojuegos interactivos, etc. Será entonces, responsabilidad de cada padre acompañarlos en este proceso, guiarlos para que equilibren ambos mundos, pero sin negarles la oportunidad de adoptar nuevos modelos disruptivos, porque nos guste o no, ese es el futuro, ese es su futuro inmediato, y deben estar preparados para afrontarlo con éxito.

Today, children understand the importance of learning a new language, developing technical skills, and mastering new technological tools; and not only do they understand how favorable it is to master these subjects, but they are a sponge to absorb the knowledge and put it into practice.
For example, to mention a very common topic for us, blockchain technology. In this era, everything indicates the massive adoption of blockchain technology in the future, everything also indicates that digital money will continue to gain prominence to the point of displacing fiat money. The trend is clear with respect to what our children will live, therefore, it is important that they are prepared to face this reality, and that happens unquestionably by being educated in these new areas.
Unfortunately, they are not going to get this kind of training right now in their schools with their usual teachers, they are going to acquire this kind of knowledge thanks to homeschooling, guided education from home, self-taught education that comes from online courses, educational apps, podcasts, interactive video games, etc. It will then be the responsibility of each parent to accompany them in this process, and guide them to balance both worlds, but without denying them the opportunity to adopt new disruptive models, because whether we like it or not, that is the future, that is their immediate future, and they must be prepared to face it successfully.
No soy partidaria de que en vacaciones los chamos deban estar estudiando, me gusta que se distraigan en su tiempo libre, que jueguen, que se diviertan; sin embargo, hay maneras de hacer de este tipo de educación emergente un proceso divertido que no necesariamente suponga una gran responsabilidad.
Puede resultar muy entretenido competir sanamente por mantenerse en el leaderboard de alguna app educativa, mis hijos lo hacen en Duolingo, para ellos es un juego de retos, pero para mi es una oportunidad de que se interesen por dominar un nuevo idioma. Igual pasa con otras aplicaciones como Mimo, SoloLearn, o hasta con el mismo Platzi, para acumular puntos. Siempre que exista algo que los estimule, sentirán el interés y el entusiasmo de continuar. No tiene porque ser aburrido, ni torturador, pues en ese caso el efecto sería totalmente contraproducente. Tiene, y debe, ser algo que les guste y les genere satisfacción por lograrlo…el auténtico ganar – ganar: conocimiento + diversión.
Los tiempos han cambiado, este proceso evolutivo no se detendrá nunca, por tanto, es necesario adaptarnos de la forma menos traumática posible a las nuevas realidades. La ventaja principal en este camino, es que nuestros hijos nacieron en esta era tecnológica, de manera que la adopción para ellos es prácticamente innata, absolutamente indolora jajaja es solo cuestión de que logren adoptarla de la manera más especializada posible.
I am not in favor of kids having to study on vacation, I like them to be distracted in their free time, to play, to have fun; however, there are ways to make this type of emergent education a fun process that does not necessarily entail great responsibility.
It can be very entertaining to compete in a healthy way to stay on the leaderboard of an educational app, my children do it in Duolingo, for them it is a challenging game, but for me, it is an opportunity to get them interested in mastering a new language. The same happens with other apps like Mimo, SoloLearn, or even Platzi itself, to accumulate points. As long as there is something that stimulates them, they will feel the interest and enthusiasm to continue. It does not have to be boring or torturing, because in that case, the effect would be totally counterproductive. It has to be and must be, something that they like and that generates satisfaction for them to achieve it... the real win-win: knowledge + fun.
Times have changed, and this evolutionary process will never stop, therefore, it is necessary to adapt in the least traumatic way possible to the new realities. The main advantage of this path is that our children were born in this technological era, so the adoption for them is practically innate, absolutely painless hahaha it is just a matter of them managing to adopt it in the most specialized way possible.

El homeschooling no tiene que ser una experiencia negativa como bien expresas Gora, de hecho, la práctica de la educación a distancia es una práctica que se realiza desde hace mucho, yo tuve mi experiencia hace muchos años con la autogestión del aprendizaje, y tengo buena opinión al respecto, sin embargo, he sido muy crítico del actual modelo de enseñanza del país que no maneja muy bien estos conceptos.
El sistema educativo vigente necesita abrirse a las nuevas tecnologías, es imperioso evolucionar porque el mundo lo está haciendo, y nuestros chamos no deben quedarse relegados.
Mientras eso ocurre, seremos nosotros, los padres, los que nos haremos partícipe de este proceso. Afortunadamente, a ti, a mi, nos apasiona este mundo, así que involucrarnos no supone ningún sacrificio XD

Aprecio mucho su aporte Sr. Hiramdo. Estoy completamente de acuerdo, todo inicia en el núcleo familiar, de hecho, en los métodos emergentes de estudio para los niños el acompañamiento y la supervisión de los padres es vital.
Definitivamente lo considero una oportunidad, mi visión es el blended learning para el futuro, creo que sería lo ideal.
Mi hija y yo estamos compitiendo en Duo, de hecho escribía hace un rato sobre eso, pero competencias sanas.

Apuesto también hacia esa educación semi-presencial que combine lo mejor de la educación tradicional con los nuevos métodos de estudios basados en las nuevas tendencias tecnológicas...ese definitivamente es el camino.
Claro, las competencias sanas despiertan el interés por querer mantenerse activo en el proceso de aprendizaje. Como todo amiga, nada en extremo es bueno, todo debe ser darse en la justa medida.
