🍄 Wenig Pilze │ Few mushrooms 🌲

in Fungi Lovers3 years ago

In the past few days we were often out in the forest looking for mushrooms. Unfortunately it hasn't rained much in the Spessart. Mushrooms are scarce in our region, so it is difficult to find suitable photo motives. The forests are empty and I miss the smell of mushrooms. I have visited all places with porcini mushrooms known to me so far in vain. In the following a few mushrooms, which I could discover together with my wife.

Pappel-Schüppling

Hemipholiota populnea

The beavers have felled numerous poplars on the banks of the Main River. On an older trunk we could find this group of fungi. On this day every mushroom was welcome. My wife showed less interest because this mushroom is not suitable for consumption.

Buntstieliger Helmling ■ Clustered bonnet

Mycena inclinata

The trail continued in the forest along the river valley. At a slightly wetter spot these Mycena mushrooms showed up on a tree trunk. I gladly accepted this invitation and tried out different perspectives with my camera.

On the Hasselberg in the Spessart, our route led through a beech forest. Up there I had always found mushrooms in the past years. But even here there were hardly any mushrooms to be seen. But as you know, most of the time I do find a motif and I am glad that I didn't carry my tripod with me for nothing.

Hasenpfote ■ Coprinoid mushroom

Coprinopsis lagopus

For the following two pictures I had decided for a wide angle shot. I am not sure about my destiny and have to trust in my mushroom book. Since I do not collect this mushroom, a mistake has however no consequences.

In some of my earlier articles I had already reported on the beech forest on the Hasselberg. So this time again I can't get past many a tree without taking a picture of it. Somehow old trees always fascinate me.

And lo and behold, another mushroom crosses our path. I dare not approach a destiny. If anyone has an idea, I would be happy to hear from them.

Krause Glucke ■ Cauliflower fungus

Sparassis crispa

_
And then finally our favourite mushroom, the Cauliflower fungus. My wife had discovered a fresh and particularly splendid specimen hidden at the base of an old pine tree. We were especially happy about this find. The mushroom was dried and a small part was used for a tasty soup. We love not only the taste, but also the smell it gives off. We do not give up and hope for more finds in the coming days._

All the mushrooms are coming very nicely appear in the photos, and the tree which is covered with moss is more astonishing that layered with all over green, finally the mushroom like cauliflower is amazing and may be i see it first time, probably i never seach it beside traditional edible type of mushrooms, excellent photography on mushrooms.

I'm glad you like my mushrooms too. I hope for more pictures in the next days.

Thanks a lot 😀

I like your #wednesdaywalk a lot, thanks for sharing your splendid finds in FL group. sadly I never met Cauliflower - in Russia it occures in the eastern and southern areals, but not in the nord-west part where I live. so, I can only rely on your pics, and cannot taste your soupee at all
:P

have a !BEER to celebrate this happy day.

This is bad because the mushroom is really delicious. Surely there are other delicious mushrooms in your region that you can enjoy. I only collect very few varieties.

Thanks for your message 😀

Lucky I envy that cauliflower mushroom. I haven't found a good one this fall at all.

It is so different in the different regions. In my case it is the only edible mushroom I could find at all. As long as it does not get too cold, I hope for further finds.

Thanks for your message 😀

How did you cook it? I like to do a simple broth with just pieces of the mushroom in it to get a clear taste of it.

The cook in our house is my wife. We use the mushroom fresh in a pancake. The mushroom is fried in small pieces in a pan with butter, salt, pepper and some white wine.
We dry most of it and use it in small pieces or as mushroom powder in soups and sauces.

Ich habe auch noch nichts richtiges gefunden. Tolle Bilder!!!

That last one is a monster. I have never heard of cauliflower fungus. There are a few species I am comfortable identifying and picking in the USA, but it's definitely not something you want to get wrong. I grew up eating a lot of morels.
