Yesterday I thought I had to give up and not be able to submit a post for the fungifriday challenge. The reason is, in this past week, I was only able to pocket a few pictures of mushrooms that I took from a hill area not too far from where I live. Although mushrooms are beautiful, I have gotten used to seeing them, and I already know they have the power to give the eater hallucinations, and because of that, they are known as magic mushrooms. Because of that, I guess, I wouldn't post if I only had them. Here are their pictures and the location where I took their pictures.
This afternoon, I made up my mind to go to a place I haven't been to in a while. The place is a hilly topographic area near the coast area. It is about 30 km from where I live to the north. There a hilly path descends from the south to the north, and forms a promontory, which is called Ujoeng Bate Kapai (meaning: ship-rock headland, because there is a rocky hill that is imagined like the shape of a ship at the end of the promontory). The cape is flanked by two bays to the west and east. The bay to the west is the largest, and has been used as a port for a long time, it is called the Laksamana Malahayati port, one of the main ports in Aceh. To the east, a small bay. The area is known as Lamreh, and the hills I visited are called Lamreh hills.
I climbed the highest part of the hill, which is south of it. When I got to the east side there, I saw a pile of dead wood. I approached it, and it was there that I found them.
This is the location where I found them, on the east side of the hill, where there is a little bay over there.
My eyes lit up when I saw a good number of them growing there. The surface texture of their outer shell is smooth, brown, and looks like plump flesh. I became drooling, and wanted to bite them, but I had never known them before. After searching for quite a bit of time, I could be sure they were Ischnoderma resinosum or the benzoin bracket. I even noticed a clear resin coming out of one of them.
I also found other than them there, which I think includes Polyporales too.
The discovery excites me to look for others. I walked around in the area, which has views like this.
This hill area is actually a tourist place to see the view of the bay, and there is a large cannon left there.
On the west, or southwest side of the hill, and it was already dusk, I found a lonely mushroom. I saw no other around him. I know him well. He who has magic! The color of the twilight touched him, so that he appeared with charm.
I continued my steps around the southern part of the hill. I saw a line of trees in the setting sun. It is beautiful! I hope to find something there.
My wish was apparently fully realized! At the base of a felled tree, I found several of them. Polyporales. One of those things that really impressed me, which I guessed, it was Fomes. It was bigger than I had ever found. I made a scale with a pen that I brought along. Here are their pictures.
This unexpected discovery really made me happy with my trip to the hill. It makes for a good day's story, of course. And it will be even more happy for me if you enjoy it.
Thank you!

Awesome, those bulgy looking mushrooms remind me of wolf's milk slime mold. The one's in your picture seem larger though so they are probably something different.
Thank you very much! I am, indeed, waiting for you to decide about that. It's a job that is beyond my ability! 😁
Just give it a poke with a stick and see if anything oozes out.
OK.👍 Thank you very much. I'll try the tip.🙂
a beautiful spot to walk around.
under such a magic light, everything will look cool, not only mushrooms. even a dirty grainy road looks super cool and attractive. awesome post, I love the tree fungi you captured a lot. all those textures and shapes. . . lovely!
😍 Very, very happy there is something you like about the post. That is indeed my hope, and I think my efforts have been rewarded with your comments. Thank you very much for that!🙂
oh, just noticed: #dnaspecieshunt. I guess it is for a special venture, including a given topic (birds will be for February) and a template to fill in, no? #dnaspecieshunt is not to use for any post you or me would like, uh? @adalger, correct me if I am wrong.
Yes, thank you for the notification @qwerrie ^^ .. The tag #dnaspecieshunt is especially created for the entries to the Species Hunt program of DNA that will start from February .. The regular tag for DNA is just @dna 😉
OK. So sorry for that. It's probably because I was so excited for it, that I made a mistake.😌 I'll fix that right now.🙏
