Here are a few fungi finds from this week for #fungifriday by @ewkaw
I found some Daedalea quercina aka maze gilled polypore.
They have a really cool deep maze pattern that resemble gills underneath but they are actually a polypore.
These are partial to growing on dead oak trees.
Here is what they look like from the top.
I also found a pretty clean artist conk.
The only blemish is a dot where this grew around a branch. I will try and use this one for a wood burning art project.
Perhaps I can turn the blemish into a fish eye?
Or maybe an eagle eye? Who knows we'll see what it turns into.
I found some black knot fungi aka Dibotryon morbosum. This is considered a blight for trees as it kills the branches it infects.
Last up is a new drink I found at the store that combines reishi, chaga and turkeytail along with some kombucha cider. It tastes great, I may try and make my own at home.
I just need to find more reishi.
Then combine it with some chaga.
And of course the turkey tail is abundant around here, no problem finding this. I would basically stew these three mushrooms together with some black tea for a couple days then use that tea with a kombucha mother to ferment it into kombucha. This should be really healthy full of vitamin d and other properties that kill cancer and reduce blood pressure.
Of course its much easier to buy it from the store but if I make it at home I can craft a new flavor, maybe mix it with pineapple juice instead of apple cider.
Happy #fungifriday :-)
I like the overlays on the artist's bracket. I gave wood-burning one a shot after you had mentioned it to me, and I didn't have as much success as I had hoped for. I don't think I am used to how quickly it burns compared to how a wooden plank would. I guess I'll have to find some more. Good thing they grow on trees!
Yeah you need a heat adjustable wood burner to find the right guage for the material. At least its not a tinder conk otherwise it would light up.

I should try to work the double headed eagle into the eye spot somehow. If only the eye was more centered it would make the composition easier to work around.
Do they have Kombucha in Russia? At first taste its kind of like a sour apple cider but in a good way.

.Reishi ,,,,I saw an interesting mushroom here in the surrounding forests, but I picked maybe one or two just for decoration as a decoration in a vase, in any case it collects dust and it's nice to see it in nature, especially when it's medicinal ,,, for now let them grow and it multiplies until I discover how to prepare it is wonderful. ;))
Reishi is easy to prepare. The easiest way to do it is to grind it into powder then put it into capsules or mix a bit of it with hot chocolate.
Interesting thanks ;))
cool and very beautiful
Thanks, hopefully next week I can finally find some morels.
Very cool artistic plans born from working with these natural mediums. Part art, part medicine, nature truly gives us all we need. Looking forward to the drinks you'll be creating from these fungi.

I definitely need to try and make the turkey tail, chaga, and reishi kombucha. Should make for a good DIY post for #naturalmedicine
