RE: Day in, Day out

Anyone that thinks the news media is about anything but selling advertising is naïve at the very best. MSNBC or CNN or Fox don't give two shits about your need to know or reporting a story in a fair and balanced manner. They are in the BUSINESS of selling advertising.

I believe that Djokovic has every right to refuse vaccination. I also believe that the Australian Open has the right to require participants to be vaxed. No contradiction at all-Don't sign up if you aren't vaxxed and can prove it.

Muhammed Ali went to jail for two years IN HIS ABSOLUTE PRIME due to his refusal to serve in the US military. That is commitment to a cause. Does Djokovic have the same level of commitment? I have no idea. Has any media outlet told us one way or another? Not so much so far as I know. Not that I've followed it all that closely.

Sort:

This is the interesting thing for the tennis, as he was told he qualified for an exemption and even in an Australian court, he won the case against the government. His visa really was cancelled by a single politician after he had been cleared. That is quite incredible in my opinion.

I have no idea how committed he is to a cause, but he has a right to not be cafes and yes, he can be refused because of it. However, since vaccination is not innoculation and it can still be caught, carried and spread, the real danger for case numbers are the vaccinated.

I just think people should be able to make their own decisions, without being punished in many ways, let alone being publicly ridiculed for not doing what the 90% believe is right.

Our of curiosity, how many times in history have the masses made the best decision in hindsight?

If I remember correctly (before my time), Ali wasn't treated well by the general public for taking a stance he believed in either. Did Kapernick play another game after taking a knee? Outliers get punished, whether they are right or wrong.

The media don't care - they are in it for the pay-per-clicks.
