So today I'm choosing to tell you guys a little more about me...
I think I might have mentioned before that I own a holistic practice & small metaphysical shop.
I love doing this because it's more an extension of my lifestyle rather than a job...
In the current economic situation we have to stay creative and on top of our game. (But don't forget to stay ethical)...
So I have figured out a way to incorporate one of my favorite hobbies into my business as well ..
Namely, candle making
Candle making for me is a form of therapy. I get completely caught up in the process, enjoying every minute and that allows me to forget everything else around me for a while...
It feels like a form of "In motion Meditation"
So I started thinking how I could add this to my business, cause I didn't want to make just "Scented" candles. I wanted to make candles that are more than that.
So I started researching different herbs and their properties and how I could incorporate them into candle magic....
And I came up with "Sister Sage Intention Candles"
Sister Sage was a name given to me by a Jamaican friend, and it grew on me everytime he used to say it 🤣
The people in my country went crazy for them but I still wasn't satisfied because I wanted smt different...
So I decided to incorporate part of our own Surinamese culture into the process... And made a "Swiet Watra" candle.
"Swiet watra is a herbal bath for luck, health, wealth, good fortune, to remove ill will from others etc"
It's usually made in a special large vessel called a "prapi"
Which isn't a must... But it just adds to the traditional part of it.
So I had mini prapis made as candle vessels
And used herbs that have the same properties as the herbs used in a traditional "Swiet watra" and made a "Swiet Watra" candle 😍
This is how they turned out ☺️
In over 2 weeks I have sold about 75 candles...
Small ones (6oz) and bigger ones (30oz)
So not only is candle making my favorite thing to do... It's also the hobby that is slowly becoming one of my bigger streams of income...
Just because my customers know that I work ethically with sustainably sourced products, vegan & skinsafe waxes... Etc...
