Fallout meets Earth Defense Force and the big screen

In Love & Monsters humanity has been living underground ever since giant creatures took control of the land. Seven years after the Monsterpocalypse, Joel Dawson (Dylan O'Brien) learns that his high school girlfriend Aimee (Jessica Henwick) is just 85 miles away at a coastal colony — after reconnecting over radio. Joel begins to fall for her again and decides to make the dangerous journey to be with her. Along the way he discovers his inner hero to be with the girl of his dreams while struggling to survive against giant creatures.

An action/adventure comedy

Joel lost everything when a meteor crashed into Earth. Since thin 95% of the human population has been eradicated. Most of this is thanks to the giant bugs that have resulted from the emission of large amounts of radioactive energy. Earth is still lush and full of color unlike most apocalyptic stories, but there is definitely someone different at the top of the food chain now.

Life underground isn’t so bad if you have the love of your life to spend it with. Joel however isn’t so lucky and decides to venture out on the surface to make the journey to his girlfriend from years back. Lucky for him he meets a dog named Boy and a couple of other helpful strangers who keep him from getting himself killed along the way.

Monsters of their own kind

Before you ask, no this movie isn’t related to Godzilla and the Monsterverse. It does however have giant creatures coexisting with human beings on planet earth. There are actually several really cool designs of monsters. Imagine bugs and other creepy little things that already live on earth, now picture them growing 100x in size.

The story is similar to something like Zombieland, but it manages to find its own path. Joel isn’t equipped with a lot of skills, he’s pretty much only good at fixing he radio and cooking canned food. Those attributes don’t transfer well into the apocalyptic survival lifestyle.

The movie is gorgeous, especially in 4K if you’re lucky enough to watch it that way. The ending totally leaves an opening for a sequel, which would probably be welcomed by all viewers of Love & Monsters.

Since last year I've been waiting to see this film, sorry if I didn't read your review and I don't want to know anything, not that I have high expectations, but I want to see something different from what I'm seeing which are the nominees for best picture at the Oscars this year, I already saw Godzilla vs Kong and now I want to see this one that Netflix distributes it in Latin America and its premiere is for this April 14.

I totally understand not wanting to read this until after you've watched the movie.
You only have one more day to wait until you can watch it on Netflix! I think you’ll enjoy it a lot.

I saw this film some time ago, it is a perfect example of a good mindless movie. Good to watch while eating some popcorn without thinking too much.

Mindless, that's a pretty good way to put it. I didn't find myself having to think too hard at any time. The movie makes it all easy to enjoy.

This movie looks fucking good bro! I already want to see it, I'll keep it in my queue, as always an honor to see your posts full of information and fun!

I thought it was pretty damn good. I definitely wouldn't want to live in the world depicted in this movie though.

i have seen this movie. it is really nice.

Awesome to know that we have the same opinion on this one.

Added to my watchlist!

Great choice! It's worth your time, the movie is very well rounded.

Interesting, seems funny lol

There is quite a bit of humor in it. Nothing over the top though.
