I've always been a fan of science science fiction movies, but my favorite type of movies are the ones that deal with artificial intelligence (AI), so in this contest, I wanted to share my favorite films that are about this topic that I find so fascinating.

This is a film about a socially awkward man that has a hard time connecting with others, he falls in love with an AI called Samantha that is a lot like Alexa. During this film, we follow their romantic relationship and its ups and downs.
This movie is very insightful, the dialogue is written with a lot of care and it raises multiple questions, after all, we live in a world where online dating has become a really big thing and we even have AI assistants, it feels like a story that could very well happen in real life... How human was Samantha? Was their relationship and love any less real because she was not human?

This movie is about Caleb, a programmer that is chosen for an experiment. This experiment is about him performing a Turing test on Ava, a beautiful female robot.

I have always been fascinated by the Turing test, this test requires two humans and a machine designed to generate human-like responses. One of the humans is the evaluator and has to ask multiple questions to the machine and the other human in a written manner... If the evaluator can not distinguish which one is the machine and which one is the human based on their responses, then that means the machine is capable of thinking like a human.

2001: A Space Odyssey
This is a movie about two astronauts that have the mission to investigate some signals that come from Jupiter. We spend most of the films with these two and the most compelling character, HAL-9000, an AI that is in charge of the ship and that has more personality than the two main characters.

The thing I liked the most about this movie is HAL, the main villain of the story. HAL acts a lot like a human, even more so than everyone else. I love the scene in which he is turned off, it made me feel sad and it is my favorite scene in the whole movie, it was the first time I felt bad for an AI.
Lo que más me gustó de esta película es HAL, el villano principal de la historia. HAL actúa como un ser humano, incluso más que los astronautas. Me encanta la escena en la que se apaga, me pone triste y es mi escena favorita de toda la película, fue la primera vez que me sentí mal por una IA.
Can machines have a conscience? Should we be scared of that? What would happen if they did?
All of these questions are the inspiration for such amazing films and I hope that as years go by we get more movies like that. Little by little, we get closer to this reality since technology advances at such a rapid pace, perhaps we are not too far away from the moment where fiction stops being fiction.
¿Pueden las máquinas tener conciencia? ¿Deberíamos tener miedo de eso? ¿Qué pasaría si lo hicieran?
Todas estas preguntas son la inspiración para películas tan increíbles y espero que con el paso de los años tengamos más películas como estas. Poco a poco nos vamos acercando a esta realidad ya que la tecnología avanza a un ritmo tan rápido, quizás no estemos demasiado lejos del momento en que la ficción deje de ser ficción.

As a ML engineer I love this kind of films and my favorite one is 'Space Odyssey' followed by 'Ex Machina'. Surely all these films exaggerate with the destructive nature of AI and make people skeptical about AI, but they are all well directed.
