[ESP-ENG] RESEÑA: Hermosa Venganza || REVIEW: Promising Young Woman

Hola hola! Como es costumbre para mí, hablar sobre las películas que he visto me resulta muy divertido, además que me sirve como catarsis para dejar todo afuera: lo que me gustó y lo que no tanto.

En este caso, no hablaré directamente de una recomendación ya que, a pesar de no ser terrible, me hubiera gustado que fuera mejor. En este caso fue de una película que quería ver desde hace mucho, les cuento qué me decepcionó de ella:

Promising Young Woman

Es una película que fue estrenada en Abril del 2020, sin embargo entró en auge este año por las recientes entregas de premios en los que ha sido nominada. Cabe destacar que la dirección y guión están a cargo de una famosa actriz: Emerald Fennell.

La historia se basa en la vida de Cassie una mujer que debido a un suceso en su etapa universitaria, se ha dedicado a vengar lo que ocurrió, lo que la llevó a tener una doble vida. Es una película de 1 hora y media aproximadamente, su protagonista es: Carey Mulligan.

Mi opinión

Ya con el tráiler se desvelaba un poco sobre su venganza, o de aquello que Cassie hace en las noches: fingir que está muy borracha para engañar a hombres que se quieren aprovechar de ella. Cuando supe de esto, me gustó mucho la idea, en especial porque casos de este tipo cada vez se escuchan más.

Sin embargo, ese enfoque de la historia dura muy poco en la película, lo cual me decepcionó. Entonces lo que sucede, es que ella quiere cambiar y dejar eso en el pasado, pero la forma en que nos muestran que se supera un trauma no creo que sea la correcta.

_{However, that approach to the story is short-lived in the movie, which disappointed me. So what happens, is that she wants to change and leave that in the past, but the way they show us that a trauma is overcome I do not think it is correct.}

No solo es el cambio de historia lo cual hace que no sea una película que guste mucho, sino la confusión o falta de género propio: no fue ni humor negro, ni drama, tampoco acción. Para mí eso le faltó, definir el género para atrapar al espectador.

_{It is not only the change of history which makes it not a movie that I like very much, but the confusion or lack of its own genre: it was neither black humor, nor drama, nor action. For me that was missing, defining the genre to catch the viewer.}

Ahora bien, las actuaciones, realmente no son destacables su mayoría: en el caso de la protagonista Carey Mulligan, me gustó, pero siento que pudo ser mejor, aunque no la juzgaré tanto debido a que fue bastante polifacética aquí, lo cual no es nada fácil.

_{Now, the performances, most of them are not really remarkable: in the case of the protagonist Carey Mulligan, I liked it, but I feel that it could be better, although I will not judge her so much because she was quite versatile here, which is nothing easy.}

Pensamiento Final

Es triste ver que una buena historia se pierda en una falla de ejecución, debido a que traía una buena reflexión a las generaciones jóvenes y adultas, ya que servía para ambas. El mensaje cuando se termina la película no llega, ni una pizca.

_{It is sad to see a good story get lost in an execution failure, because it brought a good reflection to the young and old generations, since it served both. The message when the film is finished does not arrive, not one iota.}

Pero admito que lo bueno fue redescubrir una canción gracias a esta película: Stars are Blind de Paris Hilton, fue un gran tbt para mí jajajaja. Si la vieron no duden en dejarme su opinión, porque el cine es muy subjetivo así que acepto una opinión contraria a la que aquí desarrollé!
