Update on the Movies & TV Shows Community

Again, it has been a while since I did one of these. Often enough it's mostly down to a bit of laziness, this time I've felt like just naturally observing the incredible growth of the community, ensuring that I remain afar as it grows into something that isn't exactly attached to me, force-fed content by me, or governed by me. Decentralisation matters, it's everything this blockchain stands for, and I've felt a bit strange over how I should go forward with the community while holding that big ADMIN badge.

Recently, I've been so surprised at the content appearing there each day. So many new faces, types of content, languages, and it's amazing to see such growth appearing for the love of films and television shows. Particularly on a global scale. It certainly speaks a larger narrative over the health of the blockchain itself when prior niche interests are showing flourishing signs.

With such growth, I feel it's a good time to step in a bit and make my presence useful. And by doing so, I feel it's a perfect time, at a total of $202 being distributed among 59 active users and 267 subscribers, do begin an initiative to search for moderators. These moderators will be responsible for, well, moderating the community, curating and sharing great content posted within it. While I do have some ideal users in mind that I could select, I want the community itself to be the one responsible for choosing.

So, with this post, in the comments, feel free to recommend some people that you feel would be great moderators for the Movies & TV Shows community; feel free to even recommend yourself and state why you feel these suggestions are worth of taking into consideration. Hopefully others will also see them and state their thoughts and we can get a little conversation going regarding who would be best and why.

What I would love to see is a wide selection of people from various places around the world, having a large diverse amount of curators and as a result a diverse range of content posted. So don't worry, if you prefer writing or reading posts that are not in English, that's completely fine!

I've even had the idea of finding someone to create a banner and image for the community here on Hive, giving the community a bit more personality that should additionally help with growth and appearance on the blockchain. What're your thoughts on that?

thanks man, i still don't get the communities thing though, because if i post in a community it's not posted on regular blog/feeds or under the tags. am i missing something?

If you're using peakd everything you've posted to communities and blogs will show up in the "all posts" tab in your profile (which I really think should be the default tab instead of the blog one which will only show posts you've posted directly to your blog). Similarly as of yesterday stuff posted to communities were also showing up in tags for me but I'm not sure if the same will be true today as I noticed peakd changed some stuff today XD

thanks, yeah i've noted it's weird

peace

It's more a weird front-end thing since that post is still visible to everyone that follows you. It'll still come up on our feeds even if we aren't subbed to the community you're posting into. It just doesn't show up in Blog. It should also still be visible in tags, though.

i don't really understand, but i guess i'll start posting specifically in the community. ty

...banner and image...What're your thoughts on that?

I think it would be a good idea, however the issue would then be a lot of non-movie post if they post it in the community site.

Right now your community is clean, the post all seem to be about the stated purpose of the community.

Perhaps if you decide to find a banner/logo, you could post a request in one of the Art communities seeking assistance, and be very clear that they need to not make their post in your community but the art community with a specific follow tag, and or a comment reply link to the request post.

This will bring a few more eyes on your community page, and at the same time show support for one of the art communities.

That's actually what I had in mind. I wouldn't want to have the community itself suddenly become riddled with unrelated posts; instead I was thinking of being more direct in the approach and simply using my own account to find someone and then pay them directly.

You could use your own account, but I think you might get more eyes and response if you post in one of the communities. I like the On Chain Art community run by @midlet, it is fairly active and has been kept pretty clean, and there are some pretty good graphics artist that post there, but I am unsure if he would accept a design request post or not so you would have to ask.

If not maybe like you said your own post and a few specific tags like #onchainart.

Hi
Great news.
I propose to the user wiseagent, is a lover of cinema. If he accepts and has time available, it would be a good choice.
Myself, I'm available for anything I can do to help your community. I want to increase the content creators for this niche.
The idea of making a poster for the community, is very good. There are quite a few artists on the platform who could do it.

Well, I discovered this community recently, but I was thinking about dedicating the majority of my posts about it because I really enjoy writing about my favorite pass-time.
I don't know if my opinion can be strong for that, but I want to help if I can, so... I will say what I think:

  1. @jcrodriguez, I think he could help very well, he has made really good posts about series, reviews and I think he can use that knowledge to evaluate other posts
  2. @dlstudios he began a community recently, so might be occupied or maybe he can't be moderating two communities, but I recommend him anyways in case he can.

Also, I am not sure if I could help, but I would be very glad if I can help this community, and I can also use my mother language to motive and evaluate posts in Spanish, so as a third person, I vote myself.

Talking about a banner and an image, I have a friend who has made posts in my account about graphic design, and he could help with that if we talk with him, it is just an idea.

By the way, I am very happy with this community, so, thank you, I will be seeing how this community still growing up!

Yeah, I have way to much on my plate right now to be able to moderate, thanks for the recommendation though.

It's something I could definitely do myself, but I thought it might be nice to find someone on here that would be interested in getting paid in Hive for it; since it'll be their passion, it supports Hive, and during this weird time it also financially supports someone. :^)
