Thoughts and income comparison on delegations to ocdb, curangel, dlease, and leo.voter.
For a few months now, I've been delegating HP via dlease, and to curangel, ocdb, and leo.voter. For 50 days (before I upped the delegation to leo.voter yesterday), the HP delegated was 10000 to each of the four.
The nice thing about this is that it's quite easy now to compare how well each as performed, financially. I say financially because there are other reasons why I delegate to some of the names above, and will continue to do so even in light of what is to come.
The data covers a 50 day period from the 20th November 2020 to the 9th January 2021.
This first table shows the daily liquid returns from each of the four delegates, the returns from leo.bounties is LEO, the rest are HIVE.

TOTALS | 236.55 | 125.591 | 117.87 | 103.209 (LEO) |
The dlease delegation (to an account which I've checked the voting of and am quite happy they aren't abusing) is comfortably ahead of the curation services ocdb and curangel, but the 103 LEO rewarded for the 10k HP delegation to leo.voter looks ominous in light of recent price increases for LEO.
Using the close price on the 9th January, these are the total values of the tokens earned in $.
Delegate | HIVE/LEO | Yesterdays Close $ |
---|---|---|
dlease | 236.55 | $31.850 |
ocdb | 125.591 | $16.910 |
curangel | 117.87 | $15.870 |
leo.bounties | 103.209 (LEO) | $51.270 |
Another approach would be to calculate the daily value in $ of each of the earnings - is someone sending the liquid straight to the exchanges doing better than the above?
Using the closing price of HIVE and wLEO (which is not exactly in line with LEO price and including a little fudge for the first 4 days as no data), here's how the daily earnings and totals look:

Interestingly, dlease earnings sold on the day they arrived would just outweigh the LEO earned, but this dlease total is almost $2 less than if the HIVE was held and sold yesterday, and over 20$ less than the LEO earnings if they were held and sold yesterday.
The short summary here is that it's been better to hold liquid (LEO) earned from these projects than to sell daily, and this may well prove to be the trend for the coming months also.
Why not delegate 40k to leo.voter and sack the rest off?
First, I have upped my HP delegation to leo.voter by 50%, and may well end the dlease delegation when it is next due for renewal. I will however be keeping the delegations in place to ocdb and curangel, even if the earnings don't compare to dlease or leo.voter.
The dlease delegation is mostly voting on established authors, or those that usually get a nice manual bump (maximising), and leo.voter is obviously voting only for content which is tagged with #leofinance.
This is cool, but what about newer authors and other content variety? Well, unless you think that most new users will come via leofinance (it isn't out of the question but unlikely imo), having HP delegated to accounts seeking good work by newer authors producing a wide variety of content feels important, especially when you are a bit lazy to go find them yourself.
Plenty of options and paths to take.
Cheers,
Asher

Really interesting stats, thanks for sharing Asher!

Ahh, good! Happy at least one person is interested in this comparison :)
I have 10k stake at Leo and ocdb. I don't maximize, so I also have 10k delegated for no return to @papilloncharity, hoping it helps them out a little one day.
I am not sure how the Leo stake goes, but do the returns reduce the more people who delegate? I am guessing they are paying put from a pool.
Dlease. Never tried.
Leo pays out 16 percent of the HIVE delegated but pays in LEO.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
So that is flat? Where does the LEP come from, is it part of a pool set aside for this?
And we do indeed whole heartedly appreciate the delegation @tarazkp.
Something that I have not thought about in your reply here is that the returns will be affected according to the number of delegators in the pool.
For instance if one had 30 and the other 300 the comparison will surely differ?
In my mind the bigger one will pay less as it has more people to pay?
10k out for nout is very generous, remember when you were paying how much a week for some? I have a couple of smaller ones out totally maybe 3k.
I think it's a flat 16% - I'm getting less LEO each day but assumed that was due to the rising price.
I'm a fan of OCDB's incubation program where they help communities grow(I'm a beneficiary of it for sure, posting in the programming community which is part of it) and its one of the reasons I support them. I also wonder how qurator would look like in these standings(again biased towards them as I work with them). Last time I calculated it, qurator had the top spot for payout.
Agreed as I delegate to both ocdb and qurator and it should be interesting.
I delegate to qurator and am happy with my daily hive payouts.
Seems like leo is the best either way because it is appreciating so smoothly.
I would like to hear more about OCDB's incubation program.

I forgot about qurator, oops. Need to find someone whos delegated a nice round number (preferably 10k) for 50 days and have a look.
My account @rishi556.lambo (Dreams right?) has a delegation of 54 HP to qurator for at least the last 50 days if you want to do the math by converting it up. I try an keep an even amount delegated there between the major curation initiatives(though I never got ocdb on it for some reason) so I can tell who's paying the most on a given day.
Interesting comparison, I've been mostly using dlease and Leo.voter but thinking of cancelling the remaining dlease once it gets to renewal and delegate that amount to ocd once it comes back. Nice one for providing the analysis!

I think it's good to have a balance, throwing a couple of free dele's it's really decent for the soul :)
Was looking for a write up just like this here recently. You posted it just in time and I am very appreciative of the in detail comparison of the 4.
Great work and also I like that you are choosing to already your delegations out for very good reasons.
Interesting timing. I was thinking about delegations not long ago. Thank you for this info.
My pleasure :)
Thank you! Been considering delegating to leo.voter, this reaffirms it for me, going to do it!

No worries, cheers for the beer!
@abh12345, Looks like Leo Finance is Warming Up for bigger things. In my opinion in near future Adrenaline Rush will get Activated. Stay blessed.
I agree!
👍👍
I have delegated @leo.voter and I'm happy with return
This is amazing.
I've always known that this delegation of point will always have a way of yielding returns to people but I never understood the concept till I came across this post. I still don't know everything that I'm supposed to know but I'm sure that I know much more than I knew before coming across this post.
Leo Finance is truly a community that have a lot of viewers and the votes people earn there also attracts more people to the community but the sad part of it is that everyone of Us are not knowledgeable about crypto.
Your investment really paid off but keeping it diversified like you have been doing is still the best alternative.
Well Done

.i bookmarked this one it's pretty useful. I have delegated around 4k hp to leo.voter which is the best out there and the stats confirm it as well. On the other hand if i had 4 more to delegate i would split it like you did because i know there are curation trails that are supporting multiple users around the platform news/existing without much earnings etc etc!

Great comparison and at the moment I have delegated most of my Hive Power to @leo.voter which brings me some decent daily LEO bounties. I think it is the most lucrative delegation at this point.

Really interesting, will probably delegate to leo then.
