Well This is Happening

I had a weird of a roller-coaster type of an weekend, so this news is now over 3 days old. Some of the nice things from the weekend you will probably see in some of the next posts, the ugly ones will probably not be shared...

So to the really cool news from the start of my weekend. I won a ticked and accommodation for HiveFest, sponsored by @leofinance and @blocktrades.

My road to HiveFest this year started with @roelandp announced that HiveFest is happening and it will be in Europe. And i was like, i am 100% going. Then we found out the location and i started to research how can i get there. With not living in a Schengen Area there is this weird thing where i can't fly to Amsterdam (or anywhere in Netherlands), but if i enter Schengen in some other country i can get into Netherlands 🤷‍♂

The next option would be a strait 18 hour drive, because most probably i can't leave my job before 14th. So there come my "stay in your comfort zone" side, that kinda won for Fest in Kraków.

Then @leogrowth announced contest for a ticked and accommodation. As they say in a post, the list was pretty long and for someone who does not write a lot of crypto/finance content it was a bit of a struggle. After 4+ years on the chain i do try to not post things only for posting something.

Well winning this canceled my "comfort zone" side :D And planning is on the way.

There are several options for this. As i found out that cars are really hated in Netherlands and especially Amsterdam and that i would most probably not even be able to get to the place with my 17 years old diesel, driving was eliminated.

Next one is flying to Düsseldorf and catch some kind of ride to Amsterdam. Only thing is that i would have to fly on 14th and maybe spend a day in Dusseldorf, then spend few hours in a trip, and wonder around Amsterdam after midnight?

One that looks like the most probable at the moment is a Nightjet train from Vienna. It departures 14th around 21h and gets to Amsterdam central 15th around 9-10AM. And getting to Vienna would be 6+ hours, but not that hard. I do like trains, even if they are not that great here. I do like the freedom to move around and not have to sit for 20 hours. And an option of a bed sounds ok.

So i think i need to book things this week.

And i need to start speaking English, i am definitely rusty in the speaking part.

@soyrosa what is the weather there in mid September? I need to make a compromise in photography equipment and clothes.

If you are still not sure about going and don't have a ticked i think you can still win one by sharing your personalized HiveFest Card more info here or participating in 3speak contest more info here

Heck that is really cool winning something like this and the best reason to make it happen even though you will miss some hours (Im gonna miss all thursday as well)

The nighttrain is a good one indeed! you have sleeping options but I have often went on the el cheapo night version sitting in a chair with stops every 10 minutes..It does get you there in the end haha.

see ya there!

the el cheapo is cheap :D i had my fair share of interesting train xp in my country, 9 hours for 200km and such. but then i would need a day for recovery :D

See ya

YES YES YES!

Congratz @bil.prag! <3

So happy to know I will see you in Amsterdam :D

I see the answer regarding weather is already answered, closer to the date it's a bit better to predict, September can already lean towards Autumn or be a very summery month, so no way to know until a week beforehand :-)

Happy planning!

Thanks:D
i should be clicking everything in the next few days. the night train feels like it makes most sense.

well will have to check the weather forecast for Amsterdam :D

See ya.

How epic is this?! Congrats mate! Have fun in Amstr! :)

@tipu curate

thanks.

Will try :)

Yo Bil, congrats on the hivefest ticket amigo! Here's a few Leo initiatives you might want to check out!

Fuck yeah, man! So well-deserved. Don't go too crazy in Amsterdam! We all know what happens there \o\oo\

you were one of the people i thought about while whining about a 20+ hour drive. "A guy road a bike across the Europe in November and you are complaining about driving 20 hours" 😂

maybe i should start my preparations for things that happen in Amsterdam, i am a bit rusty :D

maybe i should start my preparations for things that happen in Amsterdam, i am a bit rusty :D

HAhahahaha have you ever been there?

So glad that you had me as an inspirational figure. A 20-hour drive is gonna be a blast, I'm sure. For SF3, to get to Krakow, @guchtere and I drove over night from Frankfurt to Poland and slept in the car. It was fun!

never been there. all my vacations were moving to the south where the warmer sea is (Greece, Montenegro...) :D

I don't mind sleeping anywhere :) just that i can't start the trip before 14th.

This is so cool! I wouldn't say no to a road-trip to Amsterdam :) Super awesome, enjoy it!

hard to say no to road-trip to Amsterdam :D

Thanks, will give my best :D

I am sure you will :))

Congrats for winning the ticket, that is definitely a serious motivation to overcome any doubts!
I am not going myself but since I love planning road trips, even if I don't actually do them, I put the route on google maps and guess what. The suggested route is to pass through Serbia and pick you up :) It could have been a great trip!

That would be at least a 3 day one :D what is it, 9 hours on a ferry?
i actually don't mind driving and most of my trips are by car, but this one feels like it would need more then 1 day for a trip

Yes, the ferry is 9 hours and of course this is neither the quickest nor the cheapest way to travel but I like to plan outrageous trips just for the fun of it :)

Nice one bro. I saw that announcement post last week. There were many entries and you happened to be one of the winners.

Go over there and have so much fun. Hehe.

Thanks.

So many cool people in one place, the fun sounds guaranteed :D

While I am not @soyrosa, I can answer your concerns regarding the weather.
Expect anything between 15-25°C during the day.
Bring a raincoat or an umbrella just in case and you'll be fine.
There won't be snow, and there won't be 30+°C.

so less photo equipment :D

Thanks
