Hive Blockchains Moves This Year Will Be Critical

I honestly believe this is the make it or break it year for the hive blockchain. Hive has been going strong and is starting to gain traction in terms of it being a legitimate blockchain outside of that hunk of junk Steem that was taken over and honestly turned into a massive scam feast over there now. Hive is lightyears ahead of steem now but it still has some major moves it needs to make.

Web 3.0 Is growing fast

For a long time I said hive was ahead of the game in terms of how it works, what it offers and the massive possibilities of it. However that window is starting to close fast as new blockchains, applications and other tools start to release that are becoming a bit more comparable to hive. These new UIs offer a cleaner new age experience and the only two that I believe will actully go somewhere right now are LeoFinance UI update coming next month and honestly ecency does a great job in the UI field. You can see how powerful a low friction and beautiful UI can go in terms of mass adoption.

But that's not enough, hive needs to really get it's head out of only rewarding long form blog posts but not only that it really needs to start to make a fundemental change in terms of being more of a resource credit for applications and less about rewards. Instead the rewards stucture would fall on to the layer 2 tokens of hive via the applications.

Take for example the LEO token which can be used in DeFi, curation and more. However it really lacks generating revenue at the moment but that is starting to shift. As more revenue is generated and more reason to hold and use the token become more common place the price will start to increase. Right now we don't see all that much in terms of reason to hold and use case for the token.

Now compare that to the likes of a crypto game on the hive blockchain Splinterlands

This type of application has many use cases and with it all combines into a massive pool of revenue from not only the company but also for investors and players themselves. Some people play the game because they love it (Yes, that's a thing just like collecting cards and other type of games that are not blockchain the same fundaments take hold here as well in a digital landscape of proof of ownership)

To be Splinterlands and LeoFinance new UI are the two core things that need to really break ground this year which should attract in more serious developers and start to grow the hive ecosystem.

If it doesn't I honestly fear the hive could be left in the dust and remain a small niched blockchain. While that's still not a bad thing I'd rather see massive growth over being niched.

Gaming

Gaming seems like a great natural fit for hive. Being that it offers feeless transactions it's perfect for what people are looking for in a game type blockchain. We see this clearly on other gaming platforms like the Wax blockchain and clearly there is massive potential there in terms of revenue and free to be generated from applications built on top of it all.

As more games come in with NFT's and other assets it opens up chances for other developers to come in and build out things like Marketplaces in which collect fees. Personally I'd love to create this myself but I don't have the team or know how at the moment. You see this done in a powerful way on Wax through applications like Honey, Atomic hub and Taco who have reinvented reward structures and value for using their marketplaces.

Overall I see this year being an aggressive development and growth year for the hive blockchain as well as other new and existing blockchains. We are seeing growth and every new solid game and development tool created here on hive adds value!
