The most adept stakers will be getting yield on their ETH in other places right up until the 1st day of the ETH 2 launch.
Risk. Locking your eth into a contract weeks before it starts earning a yield is stupid.
Conclusion:
The required ETH will start filling up fast very fast at the last moment before the launch.
