Recently I was rejoicing at the change up in Hive Rewards that started paying out liquid hive!
Liquidity Changeup
One of the things that some of the newer people to the Hive ecosystem may not have been aware of or remember is when posts and comments that were voted on would pay out liquid Hive (formerly known as Steem of course) as well as Hive Power. I think since the inception of Hive posts have been paying out HBD and Hive as a reward because of whatever the calculations are.
I think the recent systemic change that prompted the payout to start appearing in liquid Hive is fantastic! I know that having payout in HBD is a good idea and one that protects the long-term usage of the Hive token but it's a real pain in the ass sometimes to explain to new users the two different liquid currencies and why there are two kinds. It's not the worst thing to have to experience that's for sure but it's certainly not easy.
When I started this draft post, things were getting paid in the two currencies. Sadly it changed back to HBD but I think it's still an awesome thing to see. We haven't had that much of a changeup in how payouts were handled since the inception of Hive so even the brief change was welcome. It means that a lot of people were buying both Hive and HBD I think if I understand some of the other folks talking about it, correctly!
With all of the changes that have been coming on Hive, I think having liquid Hive is going to be an increasingly scarce resource! I know that I've got quite a bit of liquid sitting elsewhere, with plans of powering it up but keeping some as liquid will certainly be a good way to go forward if at all possible.

Some goods for you then: I think changes planned for the next hardfork will likely lead to more times when posts will be paid in a combination of liquid Hive and HBD.
Thanks I'll have to look at what blocktrades discusses for that to see if I can figure that out!
