Hello everyone! Happy to be posting on @LeoFinance for two days in a row. Yesterday I made a simple post about Hive's price and today I want to talk about my current financial situation and how I plan to invest in crypto.
I've been on HIVE (formerly STEEM) for almost three years now, I started on January 2018, before that I had never been close to crypto. I knew about Bitcoin and I bought some BTC one year before, on January 2017, but I sold almost instantly. On 2015ish I was curious about Bitcoin mining but after researching the requirements I decided it was not worth for me.
Finding STEEM, now HIVE was a dream come true for me. I had a great start, my first post had good votes, so I was very motivated to continue posting and to increase my power on the community. Fast-forward to today I have little over 10,500 HP on my account, @grisvisa, my wife has 2,000 HP and on another account called @aliento we have about 2,600 HP. With that said I have some plans for the near future.
My family has a property, a house that is a little old but it's a very big house and honestly it's very cool. It has three bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, two levels and all that cool stuff. I'm currently living in this house and I love it, but in the family we need liquidity to fulfill some goals. My parents want to buy a new car, there are something that need costly fixings in my parents main house, and we have plans to build another Bungalow and maybe rent it on Airbnb too (we are already renting a Bungalow on that platform).
We would love keeping the house but as I say we need to invest in some things. The issue now is that the house needs some work in order to be sold at a better price. We need to repaint some walls and also the kitchen has to be redone. That's why before I can invest in crypto I need to sell some of my HIVE. At the moment I'm powering down our accounts to be able to pay for the paint and build the kitchen. When we sell the house I'm going to buy back that HIVE and I will also buy LEO. Maybe I will be able to buy around $2,500 Dollars in HIVE and LEO. Most of the money from the house will go directly to my parents.
Starting From ZERO on LeoFinance
A couple of days ago I decided that I wanted to start posting here more frequently. I have been ignoring this community for some reasons. I also sold all my LEO tokens some time ago, I really don't remember how many I had, maybe it can be seen on the Hive-Engine records.
Two day ago I literally had 0 LEO on my account. I made some comments last week and I won around 1 LEO. Today I converted some HIVE into LEO and now I have 26 LEO in total. I want to do this as an experiment to show people out there that it's not impossible to win crypto by blogging and engaging on this awesome community. And the awesome thing is that we can earn LEO and HIVE at the same time.

Welcome and that's true.
While it certainly sucks that you have to dump all your coins with price as surpassed as it is, I understand we all have real life obligations from time to time and it's unavoidable.
Money, including cryptocurrency, is all a means to an end and that end is a better lifestyle so I wish you and your wife all the best there.
In terms of starting from zero on LeoFinance, do you have a plan for the type of finance related content you're going to produce?
We have a lot of this is my plan for LEO type posts, but not a lot of actual outward facing, financial content that is going to truly bring in new traffic.
Do you have any sort of investment niche that you enjoy or plan to post about?

I'm going to find a way to sell as little Hive as possible. And I can take the loss if I have to, the good thing is that I earned almost all this coins I did not buy most of my stake with fiat and at the end it is for a good thing because I plan to buy a lot of Hive when I sell the house.
And for Leo I still don't have an specific plan or niche thought, that's one of the reasons I just joined the community, this topic is not very strong with me but I plan to promote my content in some groups that I have seen and hopefully onboard some Mexicans. I will think about it, thank you for your recommendation.

Using crypto for practical use was one of the main reasons to why crypto exists. Awesome effort you put in and now reaping the rewards. Wish to one day reach your status ;)

Diversifying your portfolios is always an excellent strategy, of course it depends on your financial possibilities.

That's nice! Not all of us have the opportunity to buy crypto at the beginning, but we certainly can learn about it and only requires time. And the good thing about LeoFinance and Hive is that we can earn it by spending just time and effort.
I hope that too, that's why I want to do this quick and have the house ready as soon as possible so it can be sold fast. Something curious is that even with this pandemic people are buying houses, so it's a good time to sell.

Relax, I'm not going to sell all of them. I just need to sell some to be able to paint the house. I don't think I will be selling more than 1,500 HIVE. If I had other options I would not sell my HIVE.
Plus I HAVE to sell Hive because I work as an assistant for a big whale, and I receive my payment in HIVE.

I am fairly new here myself. I made a couple of posts on the LEO Finance website when they first offered the interface. I have found this community to be very encouraging to folks.
There are wonderful articles and informational videos produced by a number of people as well as many opportunities to receive rewards for posting and curating. As Leo Finance uses a pure linear curve for curating there is not the complication associated with optimizing your votes. Vote 1-second after a post is published or 6-days later; it does not matter. Curation rewards are the same so you never miss out!
@theycallmedan as well as other gracious folks on HIVE have been very encouraging and actively support the community to include sponsoring contests to aid in marketing to other more traditional social-sites. When any community succeeds it is a win for everyone on the HIVE Blockchain Network!

It is totally understandable that you would be liquidating your crypto holdings and converting them to fiat to meet expenses. Hopefully, one day, one will be able to buy things with HIVE without the need to convert to fiat currency.

Thank you @sgt-dan! I love your enthusiasm, I've seen some of your videos and also read some of your posts and comments and I have to say that you are an inspiration. I will follow your suggestion and read Khal's post.
My idea is to sell enough Hive to be able to repaint the house and build the kitchen. Luckily I do not have to cover all this expenses alone as my parents are going to invest money for this too. I may be selling 1,500 to 2,000 Hive but I will be buying back at least 10 times that when the house is sold, depending on the prices. As I said, if I had other options I would not sell Hive at these prices.
Also, I work assisting a whale in Hive and my payment is in this currency, so I have to sell in order to pay my bills, buy food and medicine. Hive has been a very useful and a dream come true in my life.

Dude, you're making the right choice for sure. It's like you just described my journey on HIVE and Steem too with not knowing anything about LEO until about 5 or 6 weeks ago. I had 0 LEO!
Fast forward to today, now over 500 LP (staked LEO) and I'm loving it here. This is how it should be, vibrant community, epic developments, great communication and an engaged userbase that will always interact with your posts so you will be flying. Just read a few people's post each day, leave some meaningful comments and I'll see you at the LEO Orca level too by the end of the year! That's about 785 staked LP!

Wow! You grew pretty fast! I have sold some Hive and some Blurt for LEO and now I have 50 Leo Staked. I love how the UI and tools give us the options to quickly swapp our LEO for ETH. That is something that can help onboard a lot of crypto investors out there that have not heard about Leo or HIVE.

Yeah man, can't believe it myself! I've bought up LEO (don't know much exactly) but have also been active, staked, delegated HIVE to leo.voter for some daily returns in LEO too so it all adds up actually! The interface is great with LEO, like you say, loads of tools and they're working hard to bring in other communities to the fray in the crypto industry - all positive signs!
That is a good choice you have really made. Investing in crypto is the best choice anybody can make right now and chosing leo as one of the medium is also one of the best opportunity. I strongly believe you will quickly grow and build up your leo account soon and fast. Glad to see you posting on leo.
