If you are like me, you remembered that today is the first day (of 365) when some GLX tokens would be airdropped to you if you held SPS staked in-game in Splinterlands.
So, when I remembered, I logged into the GLG website with the same account as the one I have staked SPS in, expecting to find a page where to see that airdrop tokens accumulating.
I'm not complaining! Actually, I want more focus on Splinterlands than on GLS, but that's just me.
But for anyone who is curious, like I was, to check that GLX accumulation, I dug into the discord for a solution, and there is one involving an API call. Forget about the terminology, it's very easy to use if you want to.
Here's how:
Use the link below, and replace the "USERNAME" part at the end of the link with your Hive/Splinterlands username.

I have the link from one of the moderators in the GLS discord server, added in the general chat:
The same discussion thread reveals the GLX tokens cannot be sold at this point. And I believe many were very interested in that part (selling/trading).
So, if you use the link properly, with an account that is eligible to receive the airdrop (has SPS staked in-game in Splinterlands), you will receive a response like this:

From the output, it is obvious that my airdrop for today was 67.84 GLX. Of course, this shows the total balance, so tomorrow's airdrop will add up to today's airdrop when the balance is returned.
If you use an account that is not eligible for the airdrop (or an invalid username), you will receive an empty result. For example, if I use my account "gadrian" I will receive that.

I'm sure the interface page for it will come out relatively soon. Check out the end of this post to see what you'll need to do to see the details of this airdrop once the details are shown on the interface.
What I'd like to see though are the first use cases for GLX:
- staking
- trading
- (later on?) liquidity pools
One thing is interesting and I didn't see coming for these early days. No trade, no price. If that goes on for some time, GLX from the airdrop will keep piling up and I don't see that well when the trade starts.

I agree with you, the more they let people accumulate the bigger the initial crash will be. They should've delayed the airdrop until they had everything ready to go

I don't think they wanted to do that. It was not all their decision, since it is a partnership.

Not too bad. Getting 110 a day so far.
Hoping that the start price is high so i can sell them off and buy back later in the drop.

I was hoping for something similar too, but we'll have to see when they'll release everything.
I stocked up on sps to buy packs but when the price dropped I staked it instead so getting a nice drop.
When the tokens go live I will hopefully use these tokens to buy some packs as well and keep the sps too.
Best of both worlds.
Looks like you found a great use case for your SPS. Personally, I just buy single cards with the DEC from renting. Maybe packs would be more advantageous, but I still have a few hundred of them unopened, and the way I see it, I like to focus on the cards I want to max out and know exactly where I am at. With packs, it's a game of probabilities.

Nope, it will stay on the GLS 2nd layer. You'll have to do something with it at some point.
Thanks to the link you supplied I can see I have some GLX. I have tried to register on their site, but there's an issue with email verification that they are looking into. It gives me another reason to keep staking SPS anyway.

At least this API doesn't require the account to be registered on the website. Hopefully, the verification of your email will go through.
Nice, I'm going to check how much I can be able to claim, but holding a tiny SPS means I'll just accumulate it for months to come and see if I'll get a use case for this one.
If you don't want to engage in trading when that will be an option, holding onto the GLX (and staking it when it will be available) is the least time-consuming option.
It's nice to see that I am getting some GLX token even if I can't use it yet though. I am still not sure what I plan on doing with the tokens yet though.

Well, they gave us some time to think about it, lol. And they added your balance to the website too as raw information.
Any news on when the Coins will arrive in our Hive Wallets? This link is nice but it’s so far just “virtual”. 🤷🏼♂️
They are associated with your Hive wallet. And now you can see them in the UI if you log in to GLG. More than that, I don't know their schedule.

It'll be even more interesting if during the second part of the airdrop the market starts to rise. That would be the opposite of what happened with the SPS airdrop, which started in the bull market and ended in the bear market.
