Splinterlands: Summoners are important

One thing that every Splinterlands fight requires is a summoner and that summoner will decide what level cards you can play. It's something that I would like to focus more on and my own chaos legion deck has been lacking so far compared to my own untamed deck. So I decided to buy another leveled-up chaos legion summoner to boost my own prowess in the modern ranked battles. They can also be used in brawls but I tend to take the place of gold foil brawls so they are not as helpful towards that side.

Summoners

If your summoner level is not high enough, your monster levels are also capped. So I would say that these summonersare the most important cards you require if you want to play the game and win fights. If your summoners are level 1, then you will be at a huge disadvantage against your opponent with a higher-level summoner. Every summoner comes with different effects so having options available will be helpful. Above, you can see that the summoner has a maximum level cap car each rarity depending on your summoner's level.

One thing to note is that your summoner level is also limited by the league you are participating in. The above image also shows what level cards you need in order to not have any penalties in your focus points rewards. It's tough because sometimes I get hit by those limits as well but I generally do not have an issue in Silver. It becomes a larger issue for me in Gold league.

My purchase

I bought a level 5 Thaddius Brood for myself because I felt that my death deck was weak and that Contessa L'ament wasn't working that well. From what I see, the -1 ranged debuff was very situation and the -1 health/magic from Thaddius Brood is more useful. I was planning to buy a level 4 version of this card but it looks like they are all sold out and I had to think about whether or not level 5 would be worth it. It was because of the card Soul Straggler that has self-heal at level 5 and it would be a great card to have to improve my chances in the gold league. While the rest of my cards would not be high enough level, I think having that would be fairly powerful but I have to save more DEC to get that card.

I bought this summoner through Monstermarket because I get 60% of the fees that it collects. So this turns out to be 3% of my purchase price. This is my preferred 3rd party marketplace to buy Splinterlands cards due to this aspect.

Conclusion

I decided to upgrade my summoner so I can fight more competitively and I hope it will be helpful as we near the end of the season. I am a bit worried about buying a level 5 instead of a level 4 but I think I can make it work out due to the combo that I mentioned earlier.
