LeoFinance Engagement has been picking up a lot over the past few weeks. We're seeing thousands of more comments each week than the weeks prior.
A lot of this has to do with the comment engagement league that @abh12345 puts out every week. We've started using that as a metric for competing with each other.
As you can see, I got crushed last week. It was a slow week for me and 14 people ranked higher than me.
As promised, I am sending out 100 LEO every week to anyone who ranks above me on @abh12345's weekly LeoFinance Engagement League post. Last week, a bunch of people got lucky (but don't expect that to continue this week!).
Engagement is Off the Charts Last Week!
Engagement on LeoFinance.io has been off the charts recently. Last week we saw 7,000 comments made directly on leofinance.io. Let's aim for 10,000 comments this week!
As @taskmaster4450 has talked about numerous times: engagement is huge for the growth of LeoFinance. Our community is a hardcore community of diamond paws who have endless energy when it comes to building this place.
There is a lot that we can all do to show up each and every day to grow LeoFinance, onboard new users, drive valuable evergreen content, increase engagement, etc.
One of the #1 things we can do is engage on content on LeoFinance.io. I've been making more of an effort lately to engage in the comments on LeoFinance. I think this is a base layer activity that is fundamental to the growth of LeoFinance.
Evergreen Content + Engagement = Exponential Growth for LeoFinance
I've been watching @hitmeasap's content with a close eye as of late. He's been talking at length about the value of creating evergreen content and supercharging it with certain SEO techniques to make content rank higher in the long-term.
This is one of the most undervalued activities we could be doing on LeoFinance.
I would like to challenge everyone on LeoFinance to make more evergreen content. Create content that is outward facing and intended to service an audience outside of LeoFinance and Hive.
For example, create a piece of content that talks about RUNE or LUNA. Talk about another project and then tweet and share that content to that community.
That is yet another fundamental activity to grow LeoFinance.
I'm still working on some more foundational thoughts on how we can increase activity in this evergreen content direction. I think there's a lot of low-hanging fruit here and a lot that we can all do to play a part in this.
My Challenge
My challenge to you this week is to make a minimum of 100 comments and make at least 2 pieces of evergreen, outward-facing content.
Do this, then leave a comment below and tell me about your experience. If you beat me in the engagement league (next post by @abh12345 will be in 3 days), then I'll send you 100 LEO.
I'm also going to create a weekly competition for evergreen content. That is, every week I will send 100 LEO to the top ranking post in terms of external traffic that it generates.
You may notice that some of these posts are actually several months old. That means that authors could literally earn 100 LEO per week on old content that is ranking well.
@hitmeasap may comment here with some ideas on how to make this even better!

I like the idea, but counting year old content makes it difficult for new content to beat the traffic older content generates due to the current position it has.
I have some input and I'll share my view in a couple of hours.

What I meant was that we currently have 2 articles driving ~100 visitors per month while the third top post generates like 40 or something.
Rewarding the top article each week would basically be like giving one of the two authors LEO for several weeks or even months without much competition due to the current rankings.

I can totally understand that, but I honestly don't think it actually works like that. Some people, perhaps like you, might be eager to jump in and compete for the awesome prize, but how are you going to compete with an article that has been pulling in ~100 visitors per month for a year?
That doesn't come easy, especially as it takes something like 3-6 months for Google to actually rank content. Which means that whatever you publish today, won't even stand a chance to compete for the prize until it has been ranked properly.
That being said, if you manage to rank high and claim that sweet top spot, you can continue to earn LEO passively by simply just keeping your content up to date moving forward. It's a tough target to hit though, which is why I personally doubt that it would be "encouraging enough" for most people to start creating optimized content.
I also don't mean to come off like all negative or something like that because I truly love the idea and Khal's goal of rewarding content that will bring organic traffic over time.. But it's really hard to come up with a solid solution. It's not as easy as it might seem.

We are both harping on different ends of the spectrum.
I know plenty of bloggers who bring in more traffic than we are all bringing in together all by themselves.
You want a way to get more people doing the "right" things. I think that just a handful of us doing those things could carry the weight for a little - then explosions will happen.
My experience on the blockchain has been that learning things that bring tangible results (money in your pocket) are easily learned my more - than things that are intangible (create more money for everyone through organic growth).
But I've been talking the talk for a while, and only walking a little. I'm building over here - let's see if I can get 100 views organic views per month from some chosen articles.
I just need more info.

I think the top ranking content should earn a lot. I see what you’re saying though - we need to ensure that the competition is a fair competition.
That being said, it seems like it would make sense that if you put in the blood, sweat and tears to make something rank high in the long-run, you should get paid for that.
I just wonder if there are other ways. I mentioned the idea above of creating a ranking algorithm.
Another idea: have different prizes for different metrics. I.e.

I totally get your point and I agree. I somewhat answered this in my other comment where I talked about having a limit. Increase that to 5K or 10K LEO, whatever floats your boat, but I do think that having a limit could decrease the potential risk of people trying to cheat their way to glory.
This is a cool idea. The more the merrier, as it would increase the overall competition for those various prizes meaning more organic traffic over time.

It makes things easier for myself at least. We're all different so others might want to have a set goal to aim for, but that tends to make things more difficult for myself when it comes to engagement.
That makes me more or less count the amount of comments I make, one after another, and that doesn't work. It's better for me to just type some stuff whenever I can and see where things goes. :D

I think people don't realize the true power of push notifications. It literally puts Web3 right in your face on your phone that's on you 99% of the time. LeoFinance is no longer an afterthought of pulling out your phone. It's right there. Front and center. With beautiful notifications.
This is truly going to push growth forward at an exponential rate along with engagement and evergreen content.

I will take you up on the commenting but 100 comments are about 2 days worth of work. I see that you already started pushing for this week so I may have to see if I can up my game to stay ahead of you though.
As for the evergreen content, I find it hard enough to make posts so I don't know if I will do so. However, I do have a few posts in mind to at least try to make some evergreen content in my posting schedule. It's been slow because I have been working on it slowly.

Haha yeah I’ve been pushing harder than usual this week to make it more even. I’m a chronic procrastinator and tend to do the vast majority of my commenting on Thursday night.
Evergreen content requires some more effort and research to go into the content creation process. Most on Hive don’t do this because it means that you can’t crank out quantity.
The fact is, Hive (and LeoFinance) tend to pay for quantity and not for quality. @hitmeasap and I have been going back and forth in the comment section here talking about how to change this for LeoFinance and bring a larger focus on quality.

You probably lost on purpose the first few weeks to really bring the hype around giving away thousands of LEO per week for something so easy as making comments.. - Now when the engagement is at an ATH (not sure about that, but it certainly feels like it) you will probably just press "start" on those commenting bots you've been working on behind the scenes. You'll never lose again, but people are going to feel week after week that they were soooo close. lol. :P

I'm working on a couple of reference-type posts, especially something indicating which blockchains feature which tokens for their respective ecosystem niches. Of main interest is ecosystems for Ethereum, BSC, and Polygon, how Hive and LeoFinance relate to them, DEXs we should use, etc. It's taking me a while, but I think a post like this would be useful for both veterans and novices.
