Today I have prepared something different for all of you #LeoLions and that's an interview with Jason Tan, Community Manager of TORUM social media platform!

I asked Jason 9 questions about TORUM, their plans and also a couple more personal ones! Sentences with bold letters are my questions and Italic sentences are Jason's replies. I really liked how sincere Jason's answers are but let's not spoil the fun. Are you ready?

Hello Leo Lions, I am Jayson, the community manager of Torum.

I am a 23 year old university dropout who once pursued a finance degree.

I am a great explorer of human psychology. Due to this interest, I found myself watching an anime called Attack on Titan that really demonstrates the kind and ugly nature of humans.

I have also tried three crypto-entrepreneurships and failed two in the past. First one is a crypto mining firm. The second one is an education-based crypto media company. Third and current one is a crypto social media project called Torum.

When did you get involved with crypto and why are you a believer of blockchain tech?

I get involved with crypto when my best friend forces me to buy a coin called NEO. I didn’t know what the heck was it and I lost a few hundred dollars in just three days.

The loss was quite painful ahahahaha, but it got me to study the fundamental aspects of cryptocurrency and blockchain.

The first step is naturally reading the classic Bitcoin whitepaper. The second was the Ethereum whitepaper.

Somehow, reading both documents managed to stir my inner curiosity towards crypto and blockchain like a whirlwind. Soon, I found myself becoming a crypto-preneur.

The potential of decentralization leads me to believe that blockchain is the next big thing in the future.

What's TORUM?

TORUM is a social media platform specially designed for worldwide cryptocurrency users. I believe we are the first social media project that emphasizes on the concept of crypto-focused.

We strive on building a scalable ecosystem on top of a social media platform with strong token utilization, backed by an active community of cryptocurrency users.

When and from who was the idea of TORUM conceived?

The first draft of TORUM was actually conceived by our CEO - Yi Feng Go back in September 2018.

After we ditched our second project, we were searching for ways to build a consistent value-driven ecosystem that benefits the communities, projects and industries simultaneously.

Our search led us to conclude that a social media platform is exactly what we are looking for.

Two months later, we founded Torum and now, here we are.

Why is TORUM different from other crypto social media platforms?

We are asked a lot about this question as well. I believe that our crypto-focused identity is a big differentiation itself.

Unlike other platforms who promote free speech, censorship resistance, etc, TORUM focus on the one thing that connects the crypto industry together - Crypto & Blockchain.

We also take an alternative interface than the blogging approach adopted by other platforms. We kinda felt that everyone is just looking to imitate Steemit’s success without actually thinking out of the box.

Which is why I am glad that we are getting to see more dapps like Ecency and D.Buzz in the Hive ecosystem. Actually, I believe the crypto space is already small enough. Instead of focusing on our difference, we should look into how we can collaborate together.

Personally, I am always exploring how Hive or LeoFinance and Torum can work together in the future. Maybe native token integration is a great start.

3 Legit Reasons to buy #XTM (TORUM's native token)

First one, XTM got over 10 different utility channels in our ecosystem. This is something we don’t see from any other projects in the industry, except Binance. As more utility channels are released, XTM will have more utility value.

Second, the integration of XTM as the primary medium of exchange across our ecosystem is a big highlight, I think. The potential of a single token performing value transfer is truly beyond immense.

I would say, our ability to build an ecosystem using social media as the foundation is very important as well. It forms the scalable utility growth factor for XTM. And, let’s not forget we have a buyback-and-burn mechanism for our community.

Ultimately, it depends on how you evaluate an ecosystem with diminishing supply, growing utility backed by an active community.

Do you think TORUM has the potential to be one of the top 100 coins once the main-net goes live?

Absolutely. I wouldn't have founded Torum if I didn't believe so hehehehe.

In fact, when we draft the concept of Torum, our instincts told us this is a top 50 market cap project. Well, if we can execute our idea perfectly in the first place.

I don’t think that we need mainnet to launch us to the top 100 spots. Decentralization is not our primary focus at the moment. As long the ecosystem secures the network effect, it is just a matter of time before XTM becomes the spotlight. Decentralization comes later.

I might be wrong because ultimately, what I said does not matter. As always, it’s the community that decides whether Torum (XTM) is the right project for them.

Any future plans you feel like sharing with us?

Hahahahah, personally I don’t like to hype the market with “announcement”. We see a lot of projects that abuse hype like DeFi, et cetera. I will not want Torum to be another “announcement” project. Not when I am alive.

At the end of the day, we will continue to build more utility channels for XTM and get more UI/UX optimizations for our community.

Hey, you got to at least give us a something, right? Any hint?
