'Wait where you going? Come back!'
And that's just new users. Even some of the older and more experienced crew around here have never used an exchange and never bought HIVE, even if they wanted to. It's complicated.
But not anymore. This new feature of Peakd caught my interest the other day when I was transferring some Hive to Savings (20 percent APR? Yes please!), powering up, and vowing to buy a little HIVE every pay check whilst it's low. Because it WILL go up. There's too much built on HIVE for it to be without value. And we've seen it waaay lower, right?
So here's what you do. Go to your Peakd Wallet and find the buttons as per below, on the right hand side if you are on your desktop. Click on 'with CC'.
Then you can decide how much you would like to buy. There is a fee, but that's normal with exchanges too.
It will then ask for your email, and send you a verification code. Once you key in that 5 digit number, you then key in your details.
To start with, the details are simple for new users - phone number, address, and so on. Then, like most exchanges and banks, you'll need a copy of your ID. YOu can scan this with a webcam or with your phone.
After you have managed to take a picture without reflections (don't do it in the dark) and realised your licence is about to expire and you are now ten years older than the cute young picture of you on the card, you'll have to wait a few minutes to get the confirmation email. Unfortunately, mine was rejected due to the quality, likely as the light was very poor. A little frustrating, but I should have been a little more careful.
Third time lucky, and I was done! Once you are verified, all you need to do is go and make the transaction. Too easy!
Now, is this dangerous? Only if you spend ALL your money on Hive and leave none for paying the bills. But saying that, investing in HIVE right now might be a good way to pay the bills later, am I right?
Hope this has been helpful for anyone who wants to buy HIVE without the bother of setting up an exchange! It's a far less complicated way to do things, especially if you're new to the whole crypto thing.

I know it's so awesome, and Peakd has always been one level ahead at least.
Credit cards are for emergencies only. Mind only has a 4 k limit and I use it if I'm low before payday if we need car parts or something 🤪 and pay it back immediately so I don't pay interest. That way I dont touch my savings, and am always, always aware of how much I owe . Rarely more than 1k at a time.

I signed in via peakd. Though I used other front ends too but I am most comfortable with it. Its interface feels good to my eyes 😊
Yeah and I've been using it for so long I wouldn't know what othrr UI looked like. Though a while ago I signed on to hive.blog and noticed there were a heap of good changes. Vive la Hive!

That's interesting! Most people I tried to introduce on Hive found it difficult to deal with the keys. My brother lost his the same week \o\

For many people generally, KYC isn't an issue. Even a good number of people on Hive don't care about KYC even after they discover what it means.
For some Hivers who care whether KYC is involved, it may be too late. Even so, why make it easier for the rascals than it needs to be? Whoever wants those details will have to earn them going forward.

Yup! Very dangerous! I was about to use it, too, but ultimately decided against giving Yet Another Company my driver's licence (despite that, in my experience, I've put off 15 pounds since my DL picture was taken, and now I look pretty damn smashing).
I do think this will help with new user retention, though. Really good to see.
That's what I hope. I doubt I'll actually fund this way but it's awesome for people who find an exchange too tricky.
