Obverse:A young and melancholy maiden draped in a heavy shroud against a barren and empty background.

Reverse: High-Relief Intaglio Mint logo set on radial burst surrounded by stippled border reading “ONE TROY OUNCE” above and “.999 FINE SILVER” below on textured background, flanked by mintage year in roman numerals “MMXXII”.

Edoardo Gioja was born in Rome, Italy in 1862. He is known for portrait, figure, and landscape painting, drawing and sketching. He died in 1937 in London, England, although he lived in Italy. In 1901 he completed the “The Four Seasons”.
