The Slobberchops Ramble

in LeoFinance3 years ago

I woke up this morning way too early. As @bingbabe starts her job at 7 am I ritually am disturbed and generally say, 'oh fuck it' and drag myself out of bed to see what has been happening in the world of crypto.

What to write about today? Mort the Shit Manager effectively ended with ‘Mandy’s Curves’ and the stories of him getting more outrageous every time.

@bozz simply said, ‘I have no words’ and with Mort recently getting the sack in “The Horrors of Kwiksave: The Death of Mort", well maybe it’s time to put that mini-series to bed.

Do I publish another “Tales of the Urban Explorer”? I have plenty of content but I feel like I am becoming a single-track writer. Maybe some good old rambling might go down well?

I feel like this kind of read can be entertaining and I do like @anomadsoul’s reads when he does the rambles.

The Battle of the Bulge

It’s been like this since this virus hit, me barely going out and managing to put on half a stone (that’s seven pounds) to American readers.

My dismay of the growing podge was confirmed when I saw the weight-scale needle go to a place it's never been in my entire life and so something needed to be done.

...'I don't have a problem not eating a lot, sometime it can get extreme which is also not good'...

No fizzy drinks, no cakes, no biscuits, and less than 1400 calories a day will do the trick. myfitnesspal I know will work over some time if I keep at it, and 10 days later I'm rigorously entering every item of food and drink.

8 years ago I lost half a stone this way and I can do it again if I am committed. Running would help except my calf keeps going after around 1k resulting in a limping @slobberchops for a week.

I had it massaged just a week ago, and it hurt like fuck. I will have another go at running this weekend, and hope @bingbabe doesn’t drag me along with a rope because I’m going too slow.

Scams

In more recent times the scammers seem to have returned with a vengeance. Who is getting emails daily about, 'we need you to reset your details', from Amazon, Apple, some bank that you are not banking with, and especially PayPal?

The latter company has an email you can forward these too, and I ritually send my daily phishing attempt to [email protected] and at first, they responded giving me thanks and praises.

Now, they don’t bother after I’m guessing being bombarded with these forwarded very poor attempts at getting my PayPal password.

...'one of the more recent extra bad ones! The use of which vehicle.. Got a plate number?.. and why £26.48. Was this figure pulled out of a hat?'...

Besides this, I have stopped answering my landline as I can guarantee it's some twat trying to sell me something or extract information of some kind.

The mobile phone isn’t much better, a recent one being an automated message from ‘HM Revenue and Customs’ threatening me that if I don’t call this number I will be in serious trouble.

Give me a fucking break and piss off all of you scammers.

HIVE Woe’s

HIVE has been behaving poorly in the fallout of the last HF and the token value is now in the 13c region.

Is this because a week later things have not been sorted out or something else? I noted with dismay STEEM is doing slightly better in terms of everything except comments according to this post.

image.png
...'I get a lot more than 1 comment per post, this needs fixing'...

If nothing else they have a more stable platform as no development is going on there. Other than that I don't look these days as I don't understand Mandarin or Korean.

I would like to see my posts having comments again. It seems every post has ONE comment and no more, and this is not just peakd.com.

image.png
...'it works on https://leofinance.io/, so why is it bust on the other dapps?'...

The LEO interface has managed to fix this, so why can’t peakd.com and hive.blog do the same?

I certainly think the front end and node issues are not helping the popularity of the social aspect of the Blockchain. I wish they would fix it.

Little seems to be happening, I am seeing the same issues as I was a week ago.

yeah especially the people who are devoted to replying on comments this is kind of a heartbreaking one to see, the demise of the comment-stats ...

Loads of phishing here as well. ofcourse the crypto bite i took was ugly, but I have to say that the real life ones are also making moves and it is getting more and more difficult to define them as scam or not

yeah especially the people who are devoted to replying on comments

It's more annoying than anything, the comments are all here but not at a glance.

I feel like I am becoming a single-track writer.

Yeah, I feel the same. #quarantinediaries probably makes up at least three-quarters of what I’ve been posting lately. It’s been at least a month since I’ve written any fiction. Longer since I’ve written anything good.

No fizzy drinks, no cakes, no biscuits, and less than 1400 calories a day will do the trick.

I have an aversion to counting calories. It always seems to get in the way of !BEER

The mobile phone isn’t much better, a recent one being an automated message from ‘HM Revenue and Customs’ threatening me that if I don’t call this number I will be in serious trouble.

We have the same kind of scams here. Even though every piece of mail that comes from the Internal Revenue Service says that they will never contact you by phone.

Yes similar here. It's always by snail mail.

I get a fair number of scammy phone calls during the day that I would miss if I were at work. Keep getting one about Amazon Prime being renewed, but also some about appliance insurance. You would think they would give up after a while.

Hive is mostly usable now, but I think the nodes are still catching up. We need that to be sorted. People will be less willing to push Hive if it's playing up.

Can you go cycling or swimming instead of running? Any sort of exercise should be good. Keep you fit for climbing into crack dens :)

Keep you fit for climbing into crack dens :)

Lockdown could spell the end of this for a while. I know some of my contacts are still car-sharing and within tier3 areas (ie... here).

Some people will always break the rules, but some caution is advised. Look after yourself.

I probably have more phone numbers blocked on my phone,(even ones from Jamaica), than I had Steemians blocked/muted on my steem account. (I don't know anyone in Jamaica so why would they think I would answer a phone call from them).

I listened to the Developer chat from Howo, and it seems like they are expecting a lot of the issues to be resolved by Monday, I hope so. PeakD has made an update so that the node used to display information will auto switch now so people don't need to keep chasing the node/api issue. You still need to chase the noces/api's on Hivesigner or Hive Keychain for actions like voting commenting and banking.

PeakD has made an update so that the node used to display information will auto switch now so people don't need to keep chasing the node/api issue.

The switching has lessened, but after I click reply.. I will get an error.., I can't remember any other HF having problems for this long after it happened. Things are generally cleared up after 2-3 days.

Those errors are from outgoing action, so the method used to sign in, Hivesigner, Hive keychain, or peaklock. There ae still a few issues with hivemind acting up, blocktrades expects the majority of the hivemind issues to be fixed by Monday.

When you get the error if you are on peakd go to the bell, (notifications), and click the resubmit icon the counterclockwise circle arrow, most of the time when I do that it works, beasts copying the reply and then pasting it and hoping it go through the next time.

It seems that the witnesses and the dApp people did not do enough testing with the calls to the API's and Hivemind. It's a pain right now, but should really help out the application builders in the future.

I haven't been bleating too much about all the little problems because I figure people who know about back ends are working on it, but yeah it's a bit ballsed up still...

I listened to the Developer video meeting minutes that @howo put up, blocktrades seems to think that by Monday most of the issues with Hivemind will be resolved, but then the applications will need to play catch up and do some fixing also.

The tools page for PeakD was down for a day and a half or so, but @asgarth was able to get it repaired. I am not sure how other apps are doing it, if they are waiting or working on things at the same time.

If this was still the Steem chain, steemit would just do fork after fork, I was not there for the first years worth of forks I came in about a year after start-up, and into I think HF17 or 19, not sure which one, but they had a lot of forks that first 12 months on Steem.

Yeah its running like a pig this week.

The price of Steem shows that it has nothing to do with content...

That FOOD menu of yours is nasty dude! Bread, sugar, skim milk, flora, coffee, banana...

It's cheap.. and I can live off virtually fresh air if I need too.

Hasn't fresh air been banned in England?

Things have been pretty crazy around here and I am not even sure what is going on. It is a bit concerning. I feel like we should be growing much more than we are. I don't know if it has to do with the world climate or something else. I kind of wish there was some more organization and marketing from the people who run Hive.

Good luck with the running routine!
