Personal opinion but I feel video a bit less convenient, you need to be in a quiet place or have your earbuds with you. Kind of isolating even more than reading.

Depends what device you use i guess. My mobile phone is for making calls and playing games in bed. I do everything on my PC so the sound is no problem for me but i understand what your says. Maybe a speech to text for subtitles could be an idea of these proved to be a problem for most people.
