HBD Monthly Interest Payout in Liquid HBD - Suggestion

in LeoFinancelast year (edited)

Many of us are gaining a lot through HBD saving option. This option on HIVE allow user to get a healthy return of 20% APR on their HBD saving. It is an easiest way to keep your investments talking where we can utilize the interest payout either to re invest or to buy #hive through internal markets.

Last month, I withdrew some of the HBD saving (272 HBD) to buy #Hive. It took 3 days for the HBD to be transferred to the Liquid account. And then I did my purchase, thankfully in those 3 days there were not much market movement and I got some good deal. The 3 days waiting time allow me to look out for easy option to maintain Liquid HBD. I have this thought prompted to have the monthly HBD interest Payout in Liquid. Currently it was added back to saving account on clicking the "claim" button.

My Proposal :

Option to claim back the monthly HBD interest payout in the Liquid HBD account, rather than HBD saving account.

What is happening ?

Currently, the user gets the monthly HBD saving interest added back to the saving balance. In absence of any Liquid HBD, the user needs to wait 3 days to withdrew HBD back go Liquid account.

What can be done ? My Suggestion

Instead of adding back the interest to saving account, transfer the interest amount to Liquid HBD. Let the user to decide if they wants to add the interest payout back to saving or they want to keep it in Liquid state for other transaction.

I have been thinking that such changes would not affect the #hive ecosystem, rather it gives user more power to be free of their choices. Anyhow, the Interest amount is not added back automatically, unless and untill the user click the "claim" button. So why not to add one more feature either to transfer to Liquid or the add back to saving.

I hope @peakd #hivedevs @hiveblocks @hive and core development team should look into this. The feature is acceptable, and in case there will be any repercussion after implementing then please let me understand.

Peace!!

Makes sense.

It does...it will make a huge difference.

This isn’t a bad idea at all actually. I get it’s probably easier the way it is on a code basis, but it’s something that should be looked at or at least voted in by the community

The community are the decision maker, but there is no harm in giving a extra support to user and allow them to make use of the interest earning in their own. Rather than keeping the hbd blocked it allow user to be free.

Surely it would be a very convenient function.

I confess to you that I am using my own strategy; I always add interest to take advantage of compound interest. But I also save fiat money and when I get to deposit 50hbd in my piggy bank I buy 50 in hive from outside so as to have constant growth... sometimes I reserve the right to do the power up the first of every month.

However the function you suggest makes sense and would be useful in my opinion. Besides, I don't think it would have any major repercussions on the ecosystem, it would probably be just an extra convenience.😉

Thanks for this article @steemflow. Since I'm new here, I know nothing about what's best or not and just listen to seniors here on Hive!
God bless!

HBD saving is really amazing I will keep saving until I do reach to 2k HBD 😅

So good to see this article! More knowledgeable!

I was just thinking this earlier today! I’m new to HBD savings, so today was my first pay out for it. I mean, it was like .14 HBD, but someday it will be more! I would love to be able to use that immediately as well 😁

Thank you @steemflow for this interesting article. With your article, newbies like me will be englighten and be guided as well.
