Flower to Flower, Pollen to Honey

in LeoFinance3 years ago

I came back to the office today for the first time in almost two weeks - it is nice to get away from the home office desk and sit at a different desk for a change! Honestly though, the last weeks or months have been pretty intense and I feel like I have so much going on all the time, but not getting anything done. I am getting stuff done, it is just that it seems to be a little bit all over the place, with a little here and a little there.

I feel a bit like a bee moving from flower to flower collecting pollen in order to take it back to the Hive to have it processed into honey. Well, I have said for a long time that the decentralized future is going to require additional income streams to supplement core sources, but I wasn't expecting to have it be the reality quite so fast for me personally. I have always had a few trickles here and there, even before crypto -but it is rapidly becoming a full-time job's worth of time to manage it all.

I am also working full-time as an employee and trying to ramp my workload in my own business back up, after suffering a stroke before summer. It is energy intensive, but also rewarding, as while I do feel all over the place and a little out of sorts, I also feel that what I am doing is meaningful, which is empowering.

This is not a problem per se, it is just that during the changeover period, the processes aren't clean and lean, the habits aren't yet unconsciously competent and the amounts aren't enough to warrant consolidation to lessen the load yet. At some point though, I will have to find other ways to deal with at least some of these aspects, but since at least the crypto stuff is all manual, it means bringing someone into the loop.

I would like to have my wife get more involved, but she isn't the most technically inclined and she also has her own work position, which is getting increasingly demanding on her too. She enjoys it and I wouldn't want to put any pressure on her to do this stuff, so I will continue handling it as best I can, even though it is quite inefficient and I lose effectivity.

But, inefficiency is one of the benefits of a new industry forming, as it means there are opportunities as things slip between the cracks. One of the challenges of decentralized organizations is a difficulty to organize, which also means that there is opportunity for further decentralization as smaller groups form to collaborate and fill the gaps that the larger miss. This spreads value more widely, but also at a lower level, as the mega corps are unable to meet the needs of the marketplace themselves, so will have to bring focus more to their core competencies.

This also means that if their core competence has been to gather organization under their single umbrella to offer scale, they will slowly have to fight in those same markets against more agile organizations that are smaller, faster and built for doing one job very well. This will mean that the centralized decisions will increasingly make mistakes, diluting the power to hold the umbrella over their heads, with more of their parts getting left out in the rain, to dissolve into the competition.

Over time, this will radically reshape the structure of the business environment and while a lot of efficiency will be built into the organization and administration aspects though AI, DAOs and general automation, the solutions to match supply to demand will get quite messy. I believe this will increase opportunity for normal people and small business units to develop for small audiences at local levels again, rather than everyone wanting to use the monolith global organizations. While inconvenient at first, the incentive for users to be staked owners will be too high for many to ignore, meaning that not only will they decentralize their usage, but they will be rewarded economically for doing so.

As I mentioned about the shift to invest into what you consume for a return on your own activity, this makes all users entrepreneurial in nature, which means that the average person will look to add income streams, with the easiest path through taking ownership of their experience as users. This creates a fundamental shift in the way businesses operate and how they approach adoption, creating earthquakes in all industries across the globe. Some will use this opportunity to take a slice of the market, while quite a number of the largest will have their foundations shaken and crumbled to the floor.

This is and should be "scary" for many people, as it will lead to all kinds of market and industry disruption, but from the rubble, new growth businesses and the vacuum in the markets will be filled and there will be a lot of opportunity for those with skills (of pretty much any kind) to be employed in many different ways. Some will have very steady work as many do now, some will be more gig-based, but opportunity is there.

As said, I am struggling to manage everything at the moment as I come to terms with the conditions in my own life, but I also see it as a learning process for what is to come to all of us in the future. I think this is why it is important to learn how to cope with different types of income streams, whether they be active skill based gateways, or more passive streams that require occasional administration work. I do think things will get easier as more tools are created for the new economy, but for now - it is quite hands on.

But there is no lack of flowers to visit, and more are growing by the day.

I retired a couple of years ago, and now I wonder how I ever had time to work. I'm just as busy now as I was then. But the difference is, I'm doing things I want to do and crypto stuff is at the top of that list. I sit down with HIVE and start reading posts and one thing continually leads to another and before you know it the day is gone. My husband calls it "falling down the HIVE rabbit hole", lol. But it seems like I discover something new every day about HIVE, its dApps, its communities and I'm constantly updating and changing my strategy to make the most of my time and my passive earning potentials.

I am about four five or six years away from retirement right now and my hope is that by then I will have some pretty decent income streams happening from crypto that I will be able to just focus on that full time. It would be nice for Hive to be at a place by then that I can just write, comment, and curate through the week and bring in a steady income.

Wouldn't it be awesome to just do what you do, vote on the things you like and not only earn, but help other people build their lives too? People forget that we have a direct effect on the potential of others. More people in, the better we spread.

Yes, that would be totally awesome!

Change can be scary. And yes, those slip ups are opportunities for others. One must be wise and alert to see the currents and flows, to recognize the trends and the cycles to be able to take advantage of them.

people generally focus so narrowly that they miss the trends - it is like they do not understand one of the main strengths of decentralized information flows.

I would like to have my wife get more involved

I am more surprised that your daughter is still buying toys and not crypto.😜

technical terms are hard...every time i see DAO I think about one of my favorite games- dragon age origins.

do you think that chaos legion will increase SPS value even more?

she'll have to learn soon - or move out.

In the short-term, I think - mid-term, not really - it will likely crash down after people have the packs they want.

Totally agree with you. A lot of opportunities will come out in the bear future and those who have been able to equip themselves with the necessary skills will be able to benefit from it.

Too many only look at what they can get now, rather than developing themselves and their position for what is to come later. It is part of the human condition to not look very far it seems.

bees work hard to make honey just like this hive

I like my tea sweet :)

I like it sweet as well

I Think unlocking the whole economy will be done till november even in Finland . President Biden already announced for USA .
Basically i mean to say, people will go to office and finish their work there and when they come to home then feel atleast relaxed and chill.
I have noticed many companies take advantage for current economic slowdown and indirectly put intense pressure of work whoever work from home.

It hasn't really been locked down here that much - I have been at work when I am able - it is just the last few weeks there has been other things going on.

People tend to work longer hours from home, but not get as much done perhaps.

I have heard that some companies stopped home office working. Did the pandemic end?

Many people inluding me think that this new working style will continue after the pandemic. However, the number of companies that will accept remote working has decreased.

Was it ever a pandemic? ;D

However, the number of companies that will accept remote working has decreased.

It is increasing here - and hybrid working is going to be popular.

I am currently in this situation also, and most days I am utterly stressed trying to manage it all but I know in time I would get used to it.

It can be difficult.

Yeah, it can.
I do hope it gets less difficult for you.

Opportunities will continue to abound and we won't be having a shortage on them anytime soon. Just like you are feeling out of sorts at the moment, I think going forward organizing out skills and action to produce decent and sustained streams of income is going to be the next big task ahead. No shortage of opportunity, just one of who will collect them

Those of us who jump into things while it is messy rather than waiting till things stabilize will reap bigger long-term rewards. I submit we also have more fun. Crypto is great for inductive learners who jump in and figure things out as they go (that's how I learned ASL, teaching, bridal alterations, and lots of other fun things.) I guess it must be a complete bore or complete terror for those who just want to follow rules and do what everyone else is doing. !BBH

Because this is such an awesome post, here is a BBH Tip for you. . Keep up the fantastic work

It is definitely not easy but in many occasions our financial decisions regarding the flow of income and the way in which we can make our ventures more dynamic are anchored to the financial systems of countries where the fluctuation of the economy, rates, taxes, inflation and especially speculation suffocate new entrepreneurs. The problem of accepting other investors in our business focuses on the rights that this will acquire at the time of investing, ie depending on the amount of investment has access to a number of benefits and also the right to make decisions. In my case I have not decided yet, at the moment the capital is that I manage to get alternative ways to inject my main dream. Thanks for sharing.

I am wondering what this will all look like when the world has finally embraced crypto? Better opportunity or less? Or perhaps just different?

Income streams... and better time management for me.
