Recreational working and pornography

I put my hand on it and it felt good, really good. The sensation coursed through me and I imagined the feel of putting it to use, to working with it, the satisfaction of time spent manipulating it with my hands and the slightly fatigued but satisfied feeling afterwards. I wanted it...

It was always going to be one of those Sundays in which I'd be busy working around the house. I had a list of things I needed to get to, and had delayed due to lack of time which didn't make me feel very good. It's these jobs about the house that help me relax and bring me enjoyment so putting them off to do other things meant putting of things that have recreational value to me. Sure, I'd be working, but recreationally, so is it even working? Not really I guess.

My day started with breakfast...No, that's a lie. It started with a sleep in, then breakfast. Right after my eggs on toast and coffee it was time to go and look at some pornography at the hardware store. I took some measurements for one of the jobs I had to do at home and headed to Bunnings Warehouse to get the things I need...and ogle porn. Tools folks.

The first job of the day was to rig up a trellis to train a jasmine plant onto. I wasn't quite sure how I was going to do it but knew I wanted to do it fairly cheaply and in a way that could be reversed if and when I wanted to.

The side of a garage is where I want the jasmine; it's opposite a bedroom window and will give some visual interest plus its nice scent will waft into the room which I think would be quite legit.

I ended up buying a three metre roll of plastic UV stabilised trellis in green. I was going to get a couple steel mesh panels but it was cost preventative and so figured I'd make do with the less-permanent and cheaper option.

To fix it to the side of the garage I simply reversed the tek-screws holding the sheets to the internal beams and slipped the mesh over the head and replaced them. For some I added a small washer over the tex-screw to create a broader diameter to the head and better anchoring for the mesh. It doesn't look like much now but in short order will be covered with jasmine plant.

Above you can see the finished result. I simply tied the plant to the mesh and will continue to do so as it grows. Jasmine is a fast-growing plant and quite prolific to this will end up being a wall of jasmine.

On my trip to Bunnings I also checked out some new tomatoes as mine are coming to the end of their life.

I planted Aztec tomatoes which have been really tasty but this time I decided to go for Super Roma and Mighty Red tomatoes, just for something different. Last time I planted them too closely to one another so having learned from that they were spread out a little more which I think will give them more light and make them more scrumptious.

I actually learned quite a lot from the first plant-out and have made a few adjustments with the view to increasing my harvest. That's what life all about right? Learning and adapting.

The collage above shows a few shots from Bunnings and some of my second planting plus a few residual plants from the first. I'm really pleased with the eggplants I grew and they taste scrummy! Slice in half, brush with a little chilli olive oil, (made by me of course) and some sea salt then onto the grill for a damned good chargrilling and they're good to go. I had some on toasted rye bread spread with humus the other day and it was pretty damned good.

You can also see my last cucumber plant which is still producing and my little capsicums (bell peppers) in the lower right corner which are looking really good. They're a mixed variety so grow different colours. They'll be in my salads and on my pizzas soon. I've planted more of these and also some asparagus this time, lower middle image. Of course, I have spinach and lettuce, carrots and a bunch of other stuff as well.

Above are images of a small herb pot I made up with basil, coriander, rosemary and mint. It was great...until a massive hail storm we had pummelled it to death. Unfortunately the plants hadn't been in long and they didn't recover well, or at all. Today I replaced them all with new plants and look forward to cooking with them.

After that I did some general tidying up, a little weeding and watering and self-satisfied viewing of my toil. Things are looking pretty good and that makes me free pretty good.

Pornography

I've been on the scout for a drop/mitre saw and also a circular saw which is what I was looking at over at Bunnings. My problem is that I won't use either overly much and so don't want to buy something too costly. The issue is that the cheaper ones are shit. Sorry, there's no other way to put it. It's a quandary and so I go to Bunnings now and then to ogle drop saw pornography and eventually I'll spring for one, but not this day.

I put my hand on it and it felt good, really good. The sensation coursed through me and I imagined the feel of putting it to use, to working with it, the satisfaction of time spent manipulating it with my hands and the slightly fatigued but satisfied feeling afterwards. I wanted it...The drop saw.

That's about it really, the end of my recreational working for the day. Later I'm considering a walk on the beach but that will depend on the weather; a decision for much later. Right now I think it's time to swing in the hammock for a bit, read and probably snooze...Maybe dream about tool pornography.

I hope y'all are having a great weekend.

Sort:

Quite the green thumb you seem to be growing. We will likely plant some new things in the spring. She keeps talking about garden. I may like some watermelon.

I have a nice little portable mitre saw, it's nothing fancy, was about $35 U.S. but I have used that thing more than it's worth. For doing trim or even just cutting straight wood off, it's fantastic. Quick and accurate. I used it back when I had rental houses and was doing a lot of quarter-round floor trim, but have used it for all kinds of things. One of the best purchases I've made. Do it, you will love it!

They are so handy to have around huh? I'm wondering if I should fork out for the cheap one and be done with it as I'll not use it all that much. It's less than half the cost of the expensive one so if it works I'm well in front, if not...Lesson learned.

Yeah, the thumb is pretty green. I'm not a total novice to it all and have been really pleased with the results I've got. 😀

Hi there! What a lovely weekend post. I agree with you, recreational working around the house is a great way to spend some of your Sunday time. And having such a lovely garden that you care so much for, why wouldn't you? I'm glad you got to visit the Warehouse and work a little here and there. I can tell those tomatoes will be better than ever.

The side of a garage is where I want the jasmine; it's opposite a bedroom window and will give some visual interest plus its nice scent will waft into the room which I think would be quite legit.

Sounds amazing! Looking forward to seeing the jasmine take over the trellis.

One of the first things I'll do as soon as I move out to a sunnier location (that actually gets some sunlight, unlike my current one) will be to have my own herb pot. Something small, for a start. I've always wanted to have my own garden, but that'll have to do in the meantime.

Bunnings Warehouse is one of my favourite places although I always have to work hard not to spend too much.

I had a good time in the garden in Sunday and got a few things done. That wall of jasmine will look pretty good eventually I think and it was great to get some more tomatoes going.

I like the sound of your herb pot! What herbs will you plant in there?

Basil for sure. Also rosemary and oregano. And I'd have a separate one for mint.

Can't wait to move elsewhere! It's become a top priority.

Yep, now I know you're legit. I hope you can herbify your life soon.

Mam, that's s good idea with the Jasmine! I will have to check if it's an all year job. I put a trellis up for some climbers in summer and it was looking for but I hadn't thought to check if they would for back in winter and boom, dead twigs on a trellis. I want am evergreen type of thing.

The ways of the gardening are strong in you!!

I do the same with tools. Feel that in spring I will be on the hunt for something!

Hey mate, I'm not sure if jasmine would survive your winter, or even your summer. You know what Scotland is like. Lol. Here, it'll go all year and stay . In fact, I'll eventually have to cut it back hard. Although the plan is to not allow it to get too unruly as it'll tear that trellis away altogether.

I'm so. Lose to my drop saw purchase; barely managed to prevent it today...But it's going to happen soon...I've fondled it enough at the store. Time to do some home fondling. 😉

Lol, when you say even your summer that made me laugh. Not much survives well. Christ, even my hardy bamboo I was dead proud of got blown over by the last storm and I had to go out into the rain and tie it up to bamboo canes?!

Store fondling can only get you so far! :D

Bamboo falls over during a storm, Boomy ties it up with...Bamboo. 😁

I'm not above store fondling, but yes, it will only get one so far, and then must take said fondling to the privacy of one's home.

The irony of propping it up with bamboo made me laugh even in the rain as I was rassling it back up!

I hope the home fondling is sooner rather than later!!

That's such a great way to spend a Sunday; sleeping in and then some good gardening. There's a great deal of satisfaction and Zen to be had from gardening. Other than getting to wrap your hands around all sorts of things and meld them to your will, you ultimately will get to see things multiply and grow. I'm already looking forward to March when I can begin to start it all for the year, too.

It won't be long now and you'll be able to get back out there. We're lucky here in Adelaide, mild winters. It's the summer that can be problematic due to the extreme heat. Still, we make it work.

Hurrah for gardening.

What a disappointment. Here I thought the pornography was all herbal and floral. Guess we all feast on different flavours of eye candy. Tools - unless they are for art - are not at all my idea of sensational. Love the jasmine though. It will create quite a showpiece for the eyes and the nose. Hope you got that beach walk .... I'll send you some 40 plus heat if that will help?

Pornography takes many shapes and sizes. Gardening and tools are just two. 😉

By seeing such a nice Red tomatoes, I am attract towards breeding and farming. Its really good to see things growing around you and I hope it will give positive vibration when you put effort and keep n doing effort and things grows such a lovely post and picture.
Thanks for sharing!

Positive vibrations are always welcome right? 😀

This is funny. Of course, there would be tool porn! After all, there is definitely food porn. There is also Vein Porn- that is when you go to donate blood and you lift weight all the time, so the nurses are drooling over your "nice veins." I never thought about all the different types that are out there. It is funny how "we" (people in general?? or maybe just me?) try to avoid pornography itself, but do label things that are desirable as porn and it is in a comical way.

I hope your garden produces nicely for you. I love fresh tomatoes. They are so much better than what I get in the store. Any homegrown produce is, yet I have never really had a garden as an adult despite my father's almost obsessive efforts to have one when we were growing up and we had to work it.

Home grown vegetables are so much nicer and I've spent the last couple months enjoying a lot of my own produce, the tomatoes have been so delicious!

I've heard of lawn porn, not vein porn though. Is that really a thing?

Sometimes people call it nurse porn, but yeah, it is a thing because they get so excited to get "a good arm." I have seen them call over people's to "check out this guy's veins." I have good veins, so they get excited when I come also.

Weird, but I suppose it makes sense. They never have any issues finding mine, but never told me I have porno veins. 🤪

HA HA HA, no, you don't have porno veins! LOL. If you have veins that are easy to access, then it would be called Vein Porn or Nurse Porn. Like showing someone your arms, and you would say it is nurse porn. lol

Nurse porn sounds like pornography with nurses in it to me. I think, when I get blood taken, or am generally talking about nurses, I'll refrain from saying the word porn altogether.

New garden plants, that's exciting. Maybe not as exciting as new tools but pretty close. I've never grown Jasmine before but my wife really likes vine-like climbing plants like clematis and whatnot. Is Jasmine a perennial? Does it come back every year?

Jasmine keeps doing it's thing year after year. I have one at my other house which covers the most of the entire back fence. The scent is amazing. I hack it back now and then and it's all good, doesn't seem to mind. Some Jasmine's are deciduous however mine is evergreen so it'll look good all year.

Okay good to know. I'll keep it in mind for the future when we go back to Canada. But I'll have to look up whether or not it can tolerate the winter lol. My guess is probably not but you never know.

All in all a job well done, you reaping the rewards from previous run, we learn as we go with different climate and places in the garden where some thrive others shrivel.

Jasmine should do well, I have about five different varieties although the climbers were not too successful the bushes did better they do love the warmth.

Power tools, too many over the years, most helpful little buggers you can ever lay your hands on, dream on make sure you find the right one!

I like jasmine and it does really well here so I'm looking forward to my wall of jasmine...And more power tools. 😂

Nice to cover unsightly walls, no better way than natural cover. Certain power tools are great to have when close to hand.

I like most power tools...What's not to like about a tool that comes to life when a button is pressed?

Very jealous! It’s always about this time in the winter that I start to yearn to get back into the garden. Hopefully in about 6 weeks the weather will be good enough to do some initial prep work before planting out.

I put some new trellis in last year and also went for Jasmine (Star Jasmine to be precise).

The prep work, planning and all, can be enjoyable. I did a little of that for my initial vegetable garden and it paid off.

And yeah, jasmine is nice. Such a fresh scent.

"Right now I think it's time to swing in the hammock for a bit, read and probably snooze...

Screenshot_20220116-072530_Brave_-_Nightly.png

No swing time for me today. Unless I want to do it wet. Looks like I should a worked on the Prime Mover yesterday. But Nooooo... I was out enjoying some self esteem therapy thru Food Pornography.

threema-20220114-080850406.png

Lol, food porn huh?

I've never been into a Hooters. Good food?

The wings were not as good as I remembered. But then again the beer was cold. The waitress was hot and the boss lady was paying the tab...
LoL

Screenshot_20220116-195937_Brave_-_Nightly.png

Seems like a good place eat.

Man I just came from a windswept beach in 5 degrees and was not prepared for short sleeves, warm and growing things and plants with green leaves! I feel like that could be my pornography right now, just touching a nice warm plant...

No heat for you! But in time things will come your way. Patience is a virtue.

Ah I would love to be your neighbour, it would be out of the question to be hungry when G. lives next door.
Mhm tools...who doesn't turned on by that hahaha

So...You'd be raiding my vegetable pafch if you were my neighbour? I'm vigilant you know. 😁

Hahaha....especially that I am a vegetarian, I would be doing rounds hahahha. Uhm veggies from G.'s garden.....so enticing🤣

Doing some recreational work at home, specially on Sundays is is so relaxing. It was one of my favorite things to do at home as well. I remember, I and my father planted a few cactus and rose plants which did make me feel better about Tools. Also, you know how to play with words✨💓
Have a great Sunday ahead 😊

I'd like to respond to this comment but I'm snoozing in my hammock...😁

You got me there with the title of your post 😅 . Recreation allows us free our mind . Planting for you I’m sure must be your dose of relaxation.

Yeah, the word pornography probably hooks many people in.

Happy weekend sir.

You too.

When I read the title, I braced myself as I wasn't sure if my virgin eyes were ready for such a post...
Whew! what a pleasant surprise! All those healthy-looking herbs, including my favourite basil.
Handy jobs around the yard and all; What a gentleman you are, Galen!

That trellis will not only be eye-catching, but the aroma from the jasmine will make the area even more appealing on the outside, and yes, the scent should enhance the bedroom next to it.

Tool fondling happens, I guess! I hope one day you get the saw that you're after, but for right now I think you deserve that swing in the hammock, and hopefully you get to have that beach walk too.
Either way, you seemed to have had a productive weekend!:)

The beach walk didn't happen but the hammock-time did. I needed it.

It was a good day overall and so got quite a bit done which felt good. Now...Monday morning at work and not so good.

Monday Blues?
Perhaps a hot brew would do!

Had a couple. Slowly getting more with it.

😁 That's nice to hear. Take it easy on yourself:)

I'm trying. 😁

That's the spirit 😊

Planting vegetables is great... They always come in handy.

Yep, handy indeed.

Go for the little portable mitre saw. Unless you need it for a big project, this will do.

You are really getting serious with this garden, you are beyond the holding hands' stage here. Unfortunately, I have to wait a few months to put anything in the ground, but, I will be starting some in six to eight weeks.

Your phraseology is beyond my scope. Of course, bravo!!! And encore!

phraseology

Nice word!

By the way, I had a line of Jasmine like that in the last house. I rented it out when I got transferred here and the people cut it all down! Seems the woman was allergic to it and I found that it was quite common.

Who knew? I loved it and it smelled heavenly.

They cut your jasmine down? I hope that came out of their security bond.

I congratulate you for the opportunity to harvest your own tomatoes and about buying the circular saw it is very true that it is not worth investing so much money in something that will give you a lot.

Hey, just give me Food ain't doing no Recreational working shit hehe

Lol.

Jasmine is one of my favourites, I'm kinda jealous of that future wall of yours.

Before I moved house, I gifted my Jasmine to an old friend of mine, on Thursday I received a photo of the first flowers that opened. It is one of the most beautiful feelings to see the flowers of a plant you have cared for, especially when you have to nurse them through a level 5 drought.

IMG-20220116-WA0008.jpg

Your garden is wonderful and I'm so glad you get so much enjoyment out of it. Your hammock clearly was a great gift! What a lovely place to be able to put your feet up.

Jasmine-envy is a real thing. Just saying. 😜

Hammock-envy is also a thing. Just saying...Again. 😆

OK, I'm just messing with you.

That jasmine in the image seems to be looking pretty good, and I'd say is responding well to water as drought-conditions are leshit for most things.

Thanks for your comment and never fear, the old G-dog knows how to share so hammock sharingerising is a thing.

Lol Galen yes I admit it, I'm jealous of your hammock setup. Lory loved her hammock and misses it a whole lot, maybe I need to get her one of these mobile ones.

I am impressed that you share your hammock, I would think a place of comfort like that would be well guarded 😄 like with dragons 'n shit. I know mine would be.

One must select carefully those who one shares ones hammock with. And yeah, don't worry, it's guarded at other times. You know I'm that man.

But of course! Just had a funny thought of a NERF gun fight over rights to the hammock. Could be fun right?

You'd totally kick my ass I know, but I'd employ stealth tactics later on and get you back when you least expect it 😁

NERF gun fight, loser divine and conquers.

Done deal! The wager is on 😁
