Yeah, I remember the basket balls at school must have been 20 years old, all worn and faded. They last for a while though. You play a lot I guess, so it makes sense you have had multiple...Just tell the current one it's the best! 😂
I have fond memories of the phys ed classes as a kid, using those really old basketballs thinking of how long they've been around, how many people have played with them. Some teachers even when they were kids attending the school could have used them. Always interested me to think of it!
I have no clue how old the ones I was using were but I know they were old. Some were so work there was not a single marking of any kind left on it!

That was a profound description of just how something that could be perceived by many as a mere 'toy' or a piece of sports equipment, has actually been a tool, mechanism and pastime that has helped you process stuff, burn off emotion, ponder life and your place in it and just let loose and have a good time.

Ah very cool, a basketball is definitely a good choice. I love having one, though I haven't used mine much in a few years, it's still an awesome thing to have. Take it with you and just bounce it around and shoot it up at things and you are bound to have some fun!

I love all the creations of Allah Almighty. But one of the best so far is a mobile phone. It has made life so easier and faster. See if I could not be able to grab a mobile phone how would I be seeing and writing this some easily? I know it can be handled via desktop or laptops etc. Yet the mobile phone is the best invention so far.

I think your Mom is right in many ways, but then, so are you, so many inventions, especially related to technology have been massively beneficial or hugely sinister depending on the way each 'tool' has been used. Just imagine life without them now, it is incredibly difficult. 😎
This doesn't go far from what I said above. The tool isn't inherently evil; the use might be. And yes, however, tools are part of the human experience since homo habilis, so we are keeping up with the trend.
We certainly are keeping up with the trend and in an ideal world, may that long continue. 🙂

I was simply using a keypad phone in 2014 before I shifted to an IOS device.

At the beginning I despised these devices, I saw them as a simple element created to consume valuable time, however now I see that it is necessary to have them.
Everything has positive and negative impacts, the results the way we use them.

It's a great invention without a doubt, I can't imagine life without them. However, I think that at the same time they have disconnected us from life, every day people become more and more addicted to cell phones and human contact is being lost.
My Alexa device ranks right up there with my favorite inventions. I am handicapped and live alone and Alexa has played a big part in allowing me to live independently.
Amazon released Alexa in 2014 and it wasn't long after that my son bought one for me for a Christmas gift.
Wiki says that in 2018, Amazon had more than 10,000 employees working on Alexa and related products. And in 2019 they had sold over 100 million Alexa-enabled devices.
I use mine for setting timers and. alarms, and can tell her to remind me when there is an MSP Waves or Vimm broadcast I don't want to miss.
I use it for listening to audio books while I am folding laundry or working in the kitchen. I can download books from my local library and Alexa reads them to me! That alone has been a great feature during this past year while staying isolated at home.
She can read me entire recipes, or play a news broadcast or tell me the weather forecast.
I can ask her what time the F1 qualifying begins or the race starts.
I love it when I randomly think of a song I love and haven't heard for a while and Alexa will play it for me, or shuffle through songs by a particular artist or albums I'm in the mood for. Her speakers are really nice quality.
I have lights in the house plugged into smart plugs and I can direct her to turn lights on or off without getting out of my chair or out of bed. She can turn the outdoor lights on for me, and during the holidays, even the Christmas decorations I put on the front porch.
And I have had a couple of situations where I got myself into a predicament and needed assistance and didn't have my phone close at hand. I have a skill set up where I can tell her to notify my daughter and she is set to emai, text, and place a phone call simultaneously that says I need help.
I definitely feel safer with her in the house!
What the hell? I had no idea you were an F1 fan! We've got that in common. This blew me away.
Anyway, I'm often critical of these devices listening into us all the time and of people who are too lazy to look at their watch to get the time...But here you are changing my whole perception of how these things can be used! I imagine your Alexa device to be almost irreplaceable to you considering how you use it.
There's definitely an excellent use-case right here and I can understand why the invention has meant so much to you.

I like Norris, he's funny, a good driver and seems to be a really nice chap. I htink he'll be a good pairing for my Aussie bloke Danny RIC and I hope they excel this year. I'm pretty keen for the season to get underway.
It is gorgeous, isn't it! I still need to warm up to Danny Ric..... I will, I'm sure. He seems to have a huge ego and need to be center stage, but I don't know much about him yet. I loved the camaraderie between Lando and Carlos. I'm not sure that will happen with Danny.
I can see that...He's pretty fun-loving and I think that comes across as ego...But I think they all have some of that, think that they're the best. It's a tough line of work. I liked how Sainz and Norris worked together, it was refreshing...I think you'll see a similar thing, although RIC is a little older...Might be a different dynamic. Give it half the season and see how you feel.
I will become a huge Danny Ric fan if he is on the podium for McLaren!

Alexa is one of the most valuable tools that I have that allows me to live alone in my own home. There are more and more things that she is capable of doing all the time and I am probably not utilizing half of them in useful ways.

Never in a million years would I have even conceived of this! I am far more grateful that Alexa exists today and very pleased that she has an eye on you in the greatest way imaginable. Technology really is a multi-faceted beast isn't it, the difference in use and potential use range from terrifying to amazing.
You raised another amazing part of the technology that we have at our fingertips nowadays, when I was young, there was no way to hear a song you loved unless you had the money to buy it OR the nimble fingers and ears to record it on to audio-tape from the radio, this is one of my favourite parts of the present day. Now we have websites, YT, Alexa and even our phones can store a vast catalogue of tunes perfect for any mood. 🙂👍
Having Alexa gives my kids some valuable peace of mind knowing they don't have to worry quite so much about me. My daughter lives 10 minutes away, but if she does not respond Alexa goes on to contact my son and daughter in law who have assured me that even though they are 150 miles away they can call emergency services. I have a remote that allows me to talk to Alexa that I can carry in my scooter basket, that let's me feel secure if I go out to the mailbox or around in the yard. Even though I can't walk, she gives me so much confidence!

Hi Galen, I'm a new member of Hive. Thanks @trangbaby for bringing me here. This is a great idea, I have a lot of favorite items. One of my favorite inventions is the coffee filter. I was born and raised in the highland of Vietnam, where we grow a lot of coffee and we are the second largest coffee exporter in the world, after Brazil.
Since I was a kid, I learned how to make coffee from my dad using a coffee filter, and since then it has become an indispensable item for me until now. I use it almost every morning, then rinse it off and store it in a separate place so that every morning I don't waste time reaching for it when my eyes aren't really open.

I have a FAB little Vietnamese coffee dripper I bought in Hoi An and I use it ALL THE TIME. I take it with me for travel into the mountains of northern Thailand (where I live) - Thai people GROW awesome coffee but they sure as heck have no idea how to prepare it. LOL.

I just checked Amazon. They don't have that exact one with the lid, but pretty close. I'll give it a try. I'm using a single cup deal now that might work good at home but is pretty clunky in a camp situation. Good coffee though!

This is a cool topic and an interesting one for sure. Let's see what I can think of for an entry!
I am going to go with a camera at being one of my favorite inventions. It's really a special tool that allows you to be in a moment and just steal the briefest spec of time in that moment and potentially immortalize it for years, decades and over a hundred years. Jury is still out on that since the camera's were just invented less than 200 years ago so we have yet to reach the maximum age of a photograph! The pictures taken really allow you to catalog something in your mind about that particular moment nearly for as long as you live depending on the picture. Some of the pictures we've taken while traveling in Italy, I remember almost exactly what was going on in that moment, where we were, what we were doing and thinking and what came before and after that to an extent. I think that's one of the coolest things that have been invented in my opinion!

The camera is a legit invention and it's hard to imagine a world without them. Of course these days every one has one in their phone but it wasn't that long ago when taking photos wasn't as prevalent. A little further back and most of the world had never seen one! It's difficult to believe now. The memories a photo can bring back, as you say, is amazing...So powerful.

Ah yes, the natural curves of the women and accentuated by those thin articles of cloth!
It's good to have the cameras on our smart phones, it has certainly made things convenient and easy but I am still of the type who loves to use an actual camera, mid-range DSLR or just a quick point and shoot digital. They are a lot of fun and have captured some of the fondest memories I have! Without them I could certainly remember the things but the picture nearly instantly brings you back to the moment and I think that ability is truly amazing.
I use my phone camera a lot, probably 80% of the time...It's just easier as you say.

It has not changed History so much as it has changed the way we SEE history. Matthew Brady's battlefield dead in the Civil War for example. And it seems that everybody alive today has been permanently recorded on a camera...
Yeah I don't think it's changed history per se but it has certainly changed the way we think of things. Some of the most iconic photographs like the raising of the flag at Iwo Jima (spelling?), the march on Washington for Civil Rights and so many others all captured and etched in the brains of millions. Cameras immortalize the moments we live. They are a fabulous invention and it's impressive how much they have evolved since their creation. It is really impressive what we can do with them today, I can't imagine what they will be like in 20 years.
Yeah I know, cameras are incredible! I think things have largely come as far as they can with the lenses and all that and smart phone cameras can get a little better. I think memory and all that will improve over time but there are certain things in technology that have come a long way but have kind of hit their plateau since it's not vastly important to improve it more than it is. Perhaps some of the accessories will get a little cheaper, which wouldn't be the worst I guess!
That's a good point, although the level of technology evolution never ceases to amaze me 😊.

As a shutterbug (yes I felt like it was time to use that term) myself I'm aware how pictures bring back memories or even feelings. It's a powerful thing!
And since I grew up with pictures and I had them as help or as proof... I wonder how people did it back in the day...
I mean was there memory just better? Did they have more imagination cause they were forced to 'picture' something based on words or a drawing? Or did memories just fade........

It's all relative of course but many people did have a bit larger of a hippocampus (I think that's the region, the same region that used to be incredibly prominent in taxi drivers who had such a vast memory of where streets and places were, their particular part of the brain that involved long term memory was significantly larger than most people) because they had to actually remember things. The internet web search generation has smaller memory capacity because many just don't remember things since they can just web search it. I've fallen victim to it a little bit myself but try as hard as I can not to do that!

The humble bath huh? Such a good invention and I'll be honest, I'm not above some tub-time myself, although I'll admit it's rare. I'm more a shower guy. I've tubbed in the wilderness many times...A stream or lake...I did the Kokoda Trail in PNG a while back ant that's all there was...It's sort of freeing I guess...Maybe that's why baths are found to be so relaxing? Takes us back to our cave person days?
Or it could be because the oils or bath bombs, hot water, soothing music and...Even the company.

Gotta say I prefer wild soaking too, although an incident with a large water snake in a water hole out back of the Flinders Ranges years back was more than a little disconcerting. Here? You need to be seriously careful in still water due to all manner of tropical nasties. But I confess I have happily frolicked under many an icy waterfall. LOL. So I can be a shower girl too.

Whenever we go on holiday or even when I need to stay somewhere overnight locally, I always check if the room has a shower and a bath. No is a 'dealbreaker' I could not live without my bath, despite it making me sound like a pampered manchild lol.
I could count on one hand the number of days I have not had a bath in the last 2 decades, my bath is my own, private sanctuary, I have my best ideas when soaking in my bath, I learn via e-books and YouTube tutorials and debates while in the bath. It is the place I can most effectively 'process things' and some of the biggest decisions of my life have taken place within it's curved & sloping embrace.

Ah absolutely. A tub is one of the things my wife takes every single day lol we will definitely be getting a really nice looking tub that suits us better when we move! I have taken a tub from time to time and am probably overdue for one, they are pretty relaxing indeed!
When we moved house at Christmas, the ONLY serious requirement (apart from some form of a garden, relative privacy and proximity to the school) was a tub. Your wife sounds like a smart woman.

This is a good point...Water brings life, sustains it. It's interesting how there's still countries without good, available, potable water...Almost unbelievable to think it. Water purification on an industrial scale is a great invention.

The pen, or let's call it writing implement, changed the world. It allowed us to document more effectively, to record history and for future generations to learn what happened in times past. I wonder, with everything so digital, what might be left for future generations to find and if they'll have the ability to retrieve the digital information at all.
Yup, it's one basic thing we can't ignore today, even years later after we advanced technologically.
I was actually thinking too if the kids of the future will even want to hold a pen anymore. If writing as we know it might change. Digitally one can think that information is safer to be stored. But a fire can burn the building with the books and the computers too. So what makes an information indestructible? Hm.... I don't know where you could store data and expect complete protection. But nevertheless I am sure that the pen is here to stay for a while.

ENGAGEtokens.great choice. I think that trying to burn image on wood without drawing it first with a pencil would much harder. And burning tool even looks a bit similar a fat pencil...so without pen/ pencil I would probably not be able to create anything at all. And a lot of entertainment would also be lost as well. No books, no movie scripts, texts of songs(assuming that without pen/pencil we would also not have keyboards)...The world would be kinda boring and sad place. Also aliens would have even more reason to laugh at us:

One of my favorite inventions is this rechargeable mini fan. It runs on a battery and can also be used without the battery when plugged to power supply. I use it when it gets very hot especially at night when I have to shut my windows because of the loud generator noises from neighbors. It lasts me about 2+ hours which is not long but I must have fallen asleep before it runs out. I also change the battery when I wake up at night.
Its very handy and can be taken everywhere. For a hot climate with steady power outages, this is an awesome invention.
Ah yes, the humble blow-fan. These are a great invention! I need air-movement at night and what better way to get it.
When in the UK it was very hot and a lot of their properties don't have air conditioning so I ended up buying one of these and sleeping was more enjoyable. It's amazing how such a simple thing can have such a big impact on life. Although, sleeping well is important...I'm a bear in the morning if I don't!

In all seriousness, I stayed in London a couple of years ago when taking my Daughter to see a show on the West End for her birthday and I was in a basement room and it was stifling, we were moved room during the night as it was utterly unbearable. It was basically the only time I have ever thought about air-conditioning in this country lol.
2018 heat wave. +27 every day for weeks. It's funny though as =27 here is nothing at all...+45 is. Still, with no AC there...It was uncomfortable to slee in as I'm used to AC.
Imagine your London experience for months on end...That's Australia in summer. Lol.

Oh that was exactly when it was, 2018, my youngest Daughters 18th birthday. Whilst we were in London, Kent a few miles away reached above 35 a very unusual occurrence here. I experience 40+ in Turkey and found it unbelievably intense. I developed a massive appreciation of AC on that holiday!!!
Yep...It was unpleasant for sure. It was funny around 27 degrees though, all the poms be red and flushed and all. 😂It's funny though, me, the chocolatey-coloured Aussie seemed to be the only one putting on sunblock. Our sun is brutal here though, so it's habit.
I do love a warm rain for sure, it's one of the coolest experiences! We get them here in Boston from time to time. A 90 degree day with a nice warm rain to break it up is cool!

En este ámbito son muchos los inventos creativos,la educación a distancia se renueva, llega a cada persona donde este, la información fluye las personas se conectan.
Hoy con el apoyo de La computadura, el telefono inteligente. Me reúno con mis estudiantes, reviso sus avances, nos vemos en pantalla, en tiempo real, y tambien asincronico, cada quien va a su tiempo y ritmo.

ENGAGEtokens.The best invention for me has been the light bulb, in 1880 Thomas Edison made 1000 attempts to make the first light bulb, this story fills me with enthusiasm.
For me this invention is important and necessary, and easy to use that contributes to a world full of brightness and light.
I share with you a personal experience, I was about 8 years old when in the humble mud ranch where I lived my father installed for the first time a light bulb, (before that bulb there was only a diesel lamp), when we finished the installation we saw that it had a chain to turn on and off, my excitement was so much that I turned on the bulb every so often until the chain was in my hand, I really got a good scare and I got a good punishment too.

ENGAGEtokens.Can I put on the list gin? I know it's alcohol, but I can't tell you how many nights after a horrible work day having a good gin on club soda is so delicious. It has to be the good stuff though; those rubbing alcohols mixed up with pine cones just don't cut it.
Maybe a better term for my favorite invention is just the art and craft of distillation?
I haven't had gin in 30 years. But there was a time that I just loved a Gin Rickey or a w/tonic in the right company. I actually still drink some tonic sans gin for cramp relief.

I think many would concur that 'gin is in!' as long as we can have whisky, vodka, beer, wine and all of the other wonderful beverages that sometimes guide us gently into a relaxed state especially as you say, after a tough day at work.

I actually impressed myself with the ability to continually lower the bar. I'd come to, get horrified at where/with whom I had awoken and swear that I'd never get that bad again.
Couple of weeks later I'd inevitably prove myself a liar and lower the bar again.
Brother I've said "is my truck here?" Because all I saw was the reflection of blonde hair in the mirror. No idea how I got there. I somehow managed to lower the bar with each purchase of a bottle.

I could very easily choose language, be it written, spoken or communicated via other means, that would be a reasonable expectation of one so verbose and bloody long-winded when it comes to sharing even the simplest concept or idea.
I guess (conducting this exchange here), I could also consider BTC, Hive or blockchain technology, but that's too easy. So I am gonna choose the almost inconceivable, magic thread that has drawn all of these things together and turbo-charged them all in a way I could never have foreseen a few short years ago even as a 16 year old, leaving school and setting out in to the big wide world.

The internet is definitely a good invention and has many benefits for humanity as well as many perils. It will be interesting to see how things shake out when the internet turns 50, 100, 200 years old. Will it age as well as the printing press has? One can only hope it doesn't get controlled as badly as the powers that shouldn't be want it to be!
Absolutely! The human mind can scarcely conceive of how things evolve in such a short space of time in this exponential age in which we live, it feels like quantum leaps are taking place daily. What will the future hold that seems utterly mind-blowing, right now?
The powers that 'definitely shouldn't be' do have a way of placing themselves squarely in the middle of anything that will further their oft' nefarious agenda of control, don't they? Yes indeed, I think there is a certain amount of context in living through the pre-digital and post-digital age. I think there is perhaps a disconnect of just how life was such a few short years ago. Using a payphone with coins, a restrictive corded home telephone in just one room of the house (if you were lucky enough to have one!) watching snooker on a black and white portable TV and somehow always being able to discern which were the different coloured balls, sending a hand-written letter, I miss those a lot, licking the back of the queens head, I mean a stamp of-course!
To have conceived of all this when I was a teen would have seemed miraculous.
It's a brave new world and, I'll be honest, not one I like. I'm a simple guy, not all that smart, and value simple things. I'd be happy to retreat from the world.
ENGAGEtokens.I think that for me it has to be internet. I can't imagine my life without it. At very least it is damn useful for introvert like me. I don't have many friends in real life and I rarely meet them. So internet gives me friends that I find more interesting than those in real life. It gives me a way to engage with them. Those interactions prevent me from turning back into monkey. The opposite is also true- thanks to internet most of the time I only need to communicate as much as I want. I can buy/ learn new things online. In a way I am very lucky to live now. Without internet I would most likely have never have found many of my passions, hobbies or precious dreams.
I'm not surprised the internet got mentioned and I assume it will again. I can certainly understand what it means for an introvert like yourself...It's revolutionised communication right? I wonder how people would react if it got turned off...i mean it happens in power failures but I mean permanently...The would would come to a standstill I think!

Maybe it is also because the ones that are nearby in real life aren't on the same page as yourself. In my area the people aren't that open, they are full of prejudice and mostly not willing to look over the edge of the plate. But it happens all over.
That is what I like about the internet, which I really just discovered lately. You can find ppl all over the world and connect to them. And with some you feel really close, even though you're thousand miles apart.
If it would fail permanently, like @galenkp threw in, I think the world would be in turmoil. We are just too dependent on it, economy, transfer of goods etc.
Locally you would see ugly things after a while.

Hello @galenkp and friends. There are many inventions that I like a lot, but there are 2 that I use a lot and they are 1.- The internet and 2.- the what´sapp application on the phone.
The second works with the first. 6 months ago we saw photos of the birth of a nephew who is in another country. We also make virtual birthdays and make video calls at the time that we are going to sing the birthday and the family member sings with us with the video call.
We have a group made up of relatives in Colombia, the United States, and Venezuela. Another group of guys in Peru, Italy, Ecuador and Venezuela. Every day we greet each other and any disappointment is told by the what'sapp group. I don't know who invented it, but it is a great tool for communication with all of us who are distant.
The internet was always going to be a popular choice I think, and together with WhatsApp has connected so many people together , just like your family and friends. I have a WhatsApp group with my family who are spread all over the world and it comes in handy to drop messages so everyone knows things at the same time.
So, yes I think the internet is a great invention and it makes me wonder what might be next. Teleportation?

Maybe teleportation is a good invention and surely we would like to try it just to know what it feels like, if we have already gone to the moon and now to Mars, I don't think there are any problems in inventing teleportation.
Teleportation would be a great invention...Although, when one is turned into a cloud of separate molecules for the transfer one would need to be reassembled into a whole thing at the other end...Hopefully all the bits go back in the right places! 😂
ENGAGEtokens.The Internet has been a fabulous invention in our history. The globalized world was born with it. It gave us the possibility to be connected in many ways.
I would say the most important invention ever, (my opinion), was the printing press. Prior to it almost all knowledge was the sole property of the wealthy that could afford hand written books and time to learn and study. The printing press changed that.
Eventually people no longer needed to travel to the town square to hear the news of the day, week month or in some cases the year. Good in one respect, bad in that people no longer had any one with differing views to discuss the news with.
As with all inventions, there are good and bad issues. All invention have adverse effects, whether if be societal, economical, or natural. Inventions change things, this keeps life interesting, chaotic.
It is in chaos that we know we are alive, that we are not just standing still with no where to go in a well ordered society, or well mannered natural environment. We need the dog-eat-dog world of nature,
With the printing press people were finally able offer up their own thoughts to other people. No printing press, no "Mein Kampf", no WW2, no model T, no "Bugatti Chiron". It was the printing press that made most other inventions possible.
I wonder if it's possible to narrow down the one single most valuable invention in the world...I don't mean ten pivotal inventions, just one. I'd not want that job. I'd have to say that the printing press would be a contender. I mean, if we strip away all the inventions that we can do without...The car, internet end so on...Would the printing press be the one? (I say, do without as we can live without cars and internet etc*. ) Hmm, I wonder.

The fact that it's redundant now shouldn't take an iota away from it's total impact. That would be like taking edged weapons out of warfare because the guns are better. Entire outcomes would have been different.

Redundancy shouldn't mean irrelevancy...But we live in a world/society where what we have never seems good enough...Everyone lamenting what they have and wishing for something better...When what we have may be the best it ever gets. Ok, advances in technology aside.

It opened a lot of new worlds for people, it took a little while, but eventually the people had access to reserved knowledge.
The printing press made it possible for knowledge (Knowledge) to be passed among ordinary mortals. Prior to that knowledge was the private property of the Church or the most wealthy of people. It added an entire dimension to the 'common' man.
Very interesting!!! The printing press was an excellent invention that gave many contributions, it marked a before and after. I agree with your vision of chaos, it's very necessary for transformations and evolution.

My favorite invention is the "angle grinder" is a tool that has endless uses, works on electricity and in recent years they have evolved, now there are also wireless models, although this is very expensive
I have commented in another moment that I am passionate about working with reclaimed wood, as it is wood that was destined for the trash, it requires a lot of work to leave it well to use it again, that is why I love the ¨angular¨ grinder.

The angle grinder is a very useful thing, dangerous as hell in the wrong hands, but super-useful.
I'm a tool-guy...Have many and one of them is an angle grinder. Mine is corded but a cordless is on the cards soon, the technology has advanced so far that they are a legitimate option now...Certainly for home handyman use which is what I'd be using it for.
Interesting that it was invented in 1954...I would have thought earlier...It's interesting though, that so many inventions come from the need to do a thing...So many just sort of happen by mistake but many inventions are borne of necessity to do a thing. The angle grinder is one I'd say. A most useful tool and invention.

No DIY'er am I. I envy the skill, the mastery of tools and the ability and foresight to create a thing that initially only exists in the mind, but nope, I am a consumer of tradesmen ((that sounded massively weird, not just me, right???))
It's good to know one's limitations. I'm pretty good at this stuff but not that good that I don't have to stand back and say, really, you want to do that? And then think it through. I can use tools though, and often do.
Sometimes the cable can be annoying, there are cut positions that the cable does not allow, a wireless would be the solution, I think that all of us who use this tool should have a
There are many tasks at home that require the use of a grinder, it is undoubtedly very useful
I think it was very well designed to serve multiple purposes with disc changes

I often run the power cord up and over my shoulder to keep it out the way, or sometimes up over something else above me...Keeps it from dangling.
It is a danger to be maneuvering the cable when the tool is turned on, so accidents happen, once the cable is hooked with the wooden cutting disc, luckily the circuit breaker cut the electrical power

The good thing about this machine is that it allows you to change the discs, you can buy a wood cutting disc, a metal disc and a flag disc to polish and brush the wood, these have several granites that go from 40 to 120 the higher the number , the thicker the granite. with this tool the work is much faster.

Oh anyone, I mean anyone that knows me, knows I should keep well, well away from power-tools! We all have strengths and weaknesses and long ago I realised that working with tools and my hands was not mine. I envy you 'real men' who are great at this stuff but I was not born for it lol.
Without tools like this that deal with a complicated, annoying aspect of a job, tradesmen would struggle on jobs for longer, consumers would pay more in labour costs and I may have to attempt to use tools myself and that is a terrible option 😱 I love that you bring new life to materials that others think have ceased to be useful, this has a great number of benefits to us all. 👍🙂

The use of tools is for all people, it is only a matter of practice, twenty years ago I would never think that wooden furniture would be manufactured, it is encouraged, practiced and very careful, I respect the tool you have in your hand. without a doubt you will too, I was totally null with them
I like to contribute my grain of sand to the care and reduction of the felling of trees, it is the reason for starting to build things with old pallets that were destined for the trash, but I would never make so many types of furniture and best of all buy me, life surprises you at all times.

I'm a peanut grindin fool! My last weld table I got real good at signing my name in cursive with one.
Never used one on my welds, just cleaning the material before I ran a bead. Some 'welders' use them to hide their ugly welds.
the grinder is ideal for that kind of thing friend @dandays leave the welds smooth, you can also use a flag disk for metals, it is impeccable, you should see that the finish has another presentation unless your welds are an invisible type seam, I have seen welders do that

Aptly we write this before filming our first full review in 4 months, you've guessed it, *drum roll The Motor Car, the first one was patented by Carl Benz in 1886. In a word without this there'd be no Planetauto, this motorised carriage has many names from automobile to jalopy, it's primary goal was a to b.
However, it soon became so much more, with a whole evolving round it, no longer just a form of transport but a way of life for many, detailing, modification, tuning, art, entertainment The auto spawned pickups, vans, suv's, limos etc etc etc -
Where do you start with car? It's what you might call versatile especially fuel wise LPG, Petrol, Diesel, Hydrogen, Electric, Bio Fuel and who knows what moving forward.
Then in 1895, Carl Benz, a first once again invented the truck.
The car has allowed us to express our love, creativity and so much more.

Hmm, there's no surprise here...Mechanised transport has been one of the most important inventions and it's amazing at how fast the technology advanced...Not just the vehicle itself but the manufacture of it, of components and materials...Rubber, carbon fibre, ceramics, paint, wiring, computers, plastics and injection moulding, robotics end so on...I'm a car guy so...Massive invention for me. Although, I wold have saved a lot of money had it not been invented!

Oh, yes. A fine rest for horses and legs. Definitely motor vehicles changes transportation and lifestyle. Hopefully they will become less of a hazard to the environment in the future. And it's interesting how after things have filled a function we start to make it more appealing. I mean aesthetically. Modify it for other functions. That's human skill at its finest!
it's always an interesting one, until someone runs a car on water they'll always be some kind of an impact, mind you we're certainly heading in the right direction.

I gotta confess, I am a guy who isn't all that interested in cars, this comes shortly after admitting on another comment I am no good at tools, I fear my masculinity is being eroded away evermore as I scrollm down this feed haha.
Having said all that. When it is time for the annual service or the car is getting work done and we are without it even for a day, we feel like prisoners in our own home lol. In many ways it is not a good thing that we are so utterly reliant on our vehicles, but how on earth could we not be? The freedom this one invention has allowed people from every corner of the planet, the ability to find work further afield, the socio-economic benefits are staggering.

Whether you know you can do a job or can't - you're right - yes the vehicle is a vehicle to so many other avenues, transport, then there's the people that drive the people to the destination, the people who repair it, make parts, grow the rubber and so on - no doubt you know of Fordlandia, thank you for H Ford bit :)
Oh I am fascinated to know how transformative it would have been if Fordlandia had been a success, I remember reading that Ford's wealth at it's height, by todays standards would compete with those at the very pinnacle of industry today, Musk and Gates would still be a fraction behind him even now, if we can ever describe the odd ten billion in fractional terms!
The man certainly did have a way with words that still makes them incredibly relevant and not at all dated today and an innovative and enlightened style of management that many would be well advised to adopt today, he was the perfect meeting of practicality, dreams and ideas, (not at all a perfect man, who among us is?) Quotes are a passion of mine and a big part of the reason I started the self improvement community where Ford's words make more than an occasional appearance.

I have a Jeep Cherokee Sport, model 2012, in Spanish I call it the "nena", I don't know what would be the equivalent in English 😊. It is a silver colored "nena" that has turned out to be very faithful and strong.

I love reading books. Both fiction and books that are designed to teach us something. It was the first media to reach mass mass audience, after all.
What the press began we now inherit and take parts in its evolution. You can become a keyboard ninja without being a bookworm first but still...It's probably bookworms who made that possible for the ninja.

Well, I do read e-books. They're essentially just an offshoot coming from the physical form to me, however. The same thing, just modernized. But they can't keep a worm warm and well fed.
They have their place, just not in my house. I'm old school and like the feel of books in my hands, the rustle of paper was I turn the pages.

Just a couple of days ago I was thinking about my friend Spencer. It's been over 30 years since I've seen him, and miss him. A genuine crazy bastard, he was my first college roommate. A 6'8" basketball player. One of the most brilliant people I've ever had the privilege to meet.
We only had two classes together in college. One was an anthropology 100 level class (that athletes took when they desperately needed grade help) and the topic of the day was nurture v nature. The subject was mother's milk and it's importance in child development (yes, we were that arrogant to believe that our untested opinions mattered). Spencer raised his hand and actually stood to rise to the defense of mother's milk. "I believe very seriously in the sanctity of mother's milk. Principally because I very much like the container it is shipped in."
He also liked push up bras and mini skirts. The good news was that in 1970 we saw way more mini skirts than push up bras. Just sayin'

ENGAGEtokens.well theres some life changers for the planet as mentioned, light bulbs have been useful, booze is awesome, penicillin pretty useful but for me aircraft. Shrinking distances is one thing for passengers and cargo but flying and us being able to is staggering. I spent a few hours in the sky yesterday with @iamyohann and just amazing to be up there and weirdly it feels so right. Flying over mountains, lakes a massive quarry. Weirdest thing about the day my heart rate ( according to my garmin) lowest its been for months, so chill. You'd think being in an open cockpit 100ft up I'd be crapping myself. Ahhh wait no changed my mind DIapers/ Nappies. Best thing ever or my son would have shit everywhere as a baby.
Flight is amazing...Thanks to the Wright brothers who became the first humans to fly (hot air balloons aside) we can all experience it. Of course human flight has come a long way since then. I like to fly in planes and helicopters and have done it a lot...Small planes too. But I think something I'd like to do is this below. I mean WTF! I can see me doing this, although I'll probably die doing it! I don't know, if one is at peace with oneself I think what better way to go?

Damn I've always loved watching these people do this! I don't know if I have the balls to do it myself but holy shit does it look incredible. Some of the coolest ones I've seen are the people who do it in New Zealand I think, off giant cliffs and stuff. Some of them fly so close to the rock face, it's insane! lol
Edit - it's probably Switzerland that I see often, the Alps are probably the best place to ever do it! I would be more apt to jump out of a helicopter to do it than jumping off a cliff face lol

I've never gone up in a small craft but living near an airport that launches small ones all day every day, I can see how it is really an incredible experience! I don't know if I would be good at flying in the small ones though, I'd wear my parachute the whole time and be one foot out the door the moment something sketchy comes up lol

You'll only need to get the cooking process going on your gas or electric stove before leaving for work, pop the pot into a fabric bag filled with repurposed chipped foam and let it sit in a draught-free place without using gas or electricity and you'll have a hot comforting meal ready when you get home in the evening!
The Wonderbag is an amazing South African invention used by rural as well as city dwellers, truly awesome!
I use it to prove bread dough as well, when in a hurry.
My son gave this one to me and it's been indispensable!

So, the way I understand it, is it uses the residual heat from the initial heating process to keep it cooking, without power? What great little gadget!
