Weekend-engagement week 36 wrap up: Charity starts with...

in Weekend Experiences3 years ago

The weekend has come to an end and so has week 36 of the #weekend-engagement topic. It was a week based around charity with the primary reason to draw some attention to @papilloncharity; Zac and Marian have, over many years, injected passion and effort into the deployment of their charitable endeavours in South Africa and I wanted to help.

I also mentioned the @combination weekly hive charity giveaway which operates to raise funds in support of Zac and Marian. You can check it out here.

I also wanted to get some folks thinking about charity and charitable endeavours and it worked. Thanks to everyone who got involved - There were 23 top-level comment-responses and over 230 total comments.

I was totally blown away by the clearly thought-out, specific and well-strategised proposals; My only disappointment was that I don't have the $100,000 to hand each of those who responded so they can roll out those strategies and concepts. You can see the topic post here if you're interested.

As usual @dandays, @bigtom13, @tarazkp and me, @galenkp have provided some hive to hand out today and the following people have had some transferred directly to their wallets as a thank you for participating.

@gvkanten, @hidave, @jennynas, @joanstewart, @jizzyjoe, @hlezama, @eimy7, @cmplxty, @artemislives, @stevenwood, @argeh and @santigs

Thanks to everyone who got involved, it is greatly appreciated.

G-dog's transfer commitment

I also made a commitment in the topic post to transfer @papilloncharity 1 HIVE for every top-level comment received and below is the transfer. There were 23 top-level comments in direct response to the topic and I rounded it up to a total of 35 HIVE just in case I mis-counted. Keep up the great work Zac and Marian!

That's about it for today folks...But I hope your thoughts remain around charity...It's not always about giving money you know; There's many ways to show charity towards others and it starts with you.

Have a great week everyone, I'll see you on my posts feed throughout the week if you drop in and on Friday for a new topic.

Awesome stuff and what a great initiative. Super star providing a charitable donation too.

Keep on pushing a head! Well done

:)

Thank you @galenkp for another great weekend engagement challenge.
I am happy to see that Michael raised a nice amount of money in his Ti Amo campaign to build the school in Haiti!!!

You're welcome, and thanks for your participation.

Thank you so much for the hive, that was really an interesting topic to consider. I only hope we would learn to give no matter how little we have to our neighbor or people close by who truly need it

You're welcome. Thanks for joining in.

Thanks for a fun weekend here

It is very valuable that you remind us that money is not the only way to help, everything is at our disposal. Thank you very much and see you at the weekend.

Yep, I'll see you on the next topic!

First I hope you and wife had a great day out yesterday enjoying that umpteenth Valentines Day together, always something good to enjoy!

Secondly many thanks for the mention and Hive transfer, I take my hat off to Zac and Marian in what they do especially in the way they approached new technology to assist them during extremely trying times.

I wish I could help more with what Zac and Marian do over there. If I was there I'd volunteer some time. I htink it's the sort of charity I could get involved with in that way.

Yup working into the communities in need Zac & Marian live pretty far away, I offer online support only.

We have animal support via CROW along with Gift of the Givers working into disaster areas in Africa, both very established good places to assist into.

Each country has many in need looking for help in one way or another. Many churches have food kitchens, Hospice another we support is caring for elderly these will all be looking to private individuals for more assistance.

This is a very good point...Even the most affluent first-world countries have needy, many needy. I like to feel that I'm doing my bit for some of them, veterans and their families, although in truth I probably do not do enough.

World has always had those with and those without, very much more evident with astronomical increase in human population.

Charity always starts in the home, then moves in the village, hopefully soon the whole country on into the world.

Gracias, feliz semana y bendicones

Time to go on your Hive Tour

That really was a fantastic idea for this weeks WE Galen.

The aim behind it even better, good on ya mate 👍 Zac and Marian provide an invaluable service that provides, nutrition, assistance, smiles and a better world, if 1% more of the global population were just like them we would live in a very different world indeed.

Thanks for the 5 Hive, more than appreciated, Ima let ya guess what I chose to do with it haha:

You know I am appalling at anything vaguely technical and this looks tiny, but I am proud I manged to get anything copied here at all lol.👇

It seemed perfectly fitting and it was great to double my donation, thanks in turn, to your generosity Sir. It has prompted me to think how I can best help on a regular basis too, I thank you enormously for that. I was looking forward to my first Weekend Engagement after my return and this did not disappoint. Incredibly happy to call you friend, G-dog 😎👍

Nice work cobber, I think everything little bit they get is put to good use; I believe @papilloncharity is as good at being sustainable as they are at giving selflessly and often.

It's good to have you back and I hope you stick around.

We wish to thank you once again @stevenwood and it is indeed an honor to have @galenkp as a friend.

Someone once said that; "You make a life by what you get, but you live a live by what you give"
Sorry, I don't have my thinking cap on this morning, but I will ask Mrs. Google who said that.

Thank you kindly and may things be well with you and yours!

I'm humbled Zac, and am happy to have connected with you through hive. :)

It might be important what you say, but the real value lies in what you do in this life. (My own words)
You certainly do a lot and you understand this Galen.
Yes, you are tough guy, but I see you with the same eyes that your little nephew sees you, and I bet Faith also sees you with the same eyes. (Don't let the G-dog hear this)

Thank you for the big donation and we are honored by your trust and friendship.

I'll make sure only Galen reads this...G-dog, and the other personalities, are strictly verboten. Lol.

Thanks Zac.

Marian's first words: "You see, I told you that your parents were wise to give you 3 names as they knew you would he 3 personalities" 🤣

Yeah that message was indeed aimed at your first name 🤣
