Celebration of Life - Spring when the ground soaks up the life giving rain after rumbling thunderstorms roll over sparking new season into being.
When early rains fall and the sun comes out to shine, the Western Cape veld transforms into splendid sea of colour.... (On my bucket list again!)
Children dress up for Spring Day on the 1st September every year, colourful little dresses for girls with flowers in their hair, casual shorts with floral shirt for boys, or similar (of late this often turns into a cold day when parents quickly re-think clothing).
Some shave their head in anticipation of warmer weather, many pull out braai fires to enjoy an early start to the season. Sounds good to me, we do things on African Time, so anytime between September and December!
Good enough reasons as to why we enjoy this early start, by January we will complain about the heat, Spring the in between season of change we all enjoy.
Reality check! Spring celestial equator is around 22/23 September according to Vernal Equinox of Earth, so we start a bit early!
Natures time to copulate, ensure future generation continues the circle of life. I can watch... can't I? Never too old to learn!
Bird life, most males transform into smarter outfits to impress ladies, others start building nests vigorously singing, chirping, enticing ladies to change their mind. Chase is on, let the fittest win!
New beginnings over a period of approximately three months, good to celebrate each and every year, not greedy just like a lot, also most enjoyable leading up to the festive season.
Have a great time celebrating, whatever your choice, it is yours to make. Thanks for staying for something quirky, quite normal in my book!

Lots of millipedes (Diplopoda) out this year, now is their time to tango.

Millipede is an Invertebrate more closely identified with crabs and crayfish if I am not mistaken. Thanks for enjoying and engagement.

What a beauty spring brings along. I would sure love the sight of girls and boys colorfully dresses.
These images are really outstanding, I kept looking at those flowers over and over again. Never though that millipede could be colorful like that too the only ones I have seen around here are brown in color with their sheen.
So much to entertain us right in the garden, nature is ever changing and Spring ushers in new life with everything.

I really love the different colors of the flowers during spring period. It's a right time to capture the real moment just those pictures look so awesome.

Change is more in birds arriving from the North, different flowers through the months of Spring, all things creepy crawly tend to appear. Very lively before the heat of summer sets in, have a great weekend JJ and thanks for engaging.

Greetings from over the oceans, hopefully not getting too cold there, have a great weekend as well.
Not as bad as its going to get, but has been around freezing point at sunrise and sunset so not so much fun to go out walking
One bonus is not having to be up early or arrive home late, now take time when you are ready to go, isn't it nice!
Ohh yes that is a plus but trying to keep active and get out for walks each day will be a challenge
Out colours are slowly disappearing, the leaves are falling to the ground, and everything's growing only half a planet away ... always fasinating. I love the Autumn most of the seasons for its colours, but the Spring is much appreciated each year after an always too long and cold Winter.
Beautiful photos, Joan, and these centipedes are always something special. Maybe one day I will find one here and take a photo, but I will need a macro lens because ours are quite small :)

The orange glow you have in Autumn is special time for photography, Spring the soft meadow flowers we will find three hours away.

Each year after a long winter we are longing for the sun and the green - it's always a pleasure to see the first green grass growing through the snow and the first leaves on the trees 😀

Once in a lifetime to experience a winter with snow, seeing everything wake up again when warm season arrives... Again not knowing perhaps is what makes us romanticize something we may actually end up not enjoying at all.

I enjoy the snow and I love the winter. The white colour is something special, but when the snow is slowly melting everything gets more or less gray and muddy for a couple of weeks. During this time we are longing for the Spring and for the green. I'm sure you would enjoy the cold season just like I do, Joan 😀 although you might freeze a little more ❄️

One thing I do know is mosquito and flies don't like the cold so I imagine I would be most content enjoying the snow with a BIG fire to keep me warm.
Definitely part of the survival kit for the cold weather is dry red !WINE

Spring is a beautiful season everything is reborn love this season. They are some huge Millipedes never seen anything like that before they look scary.
Not poisonous, very few are allergic to toxin squirted on you when picking them up, normally I let them be to carry on with life.
Yes I would leave them alone and let them get on with it they are not my type to interfere with.
Only time I pick them up is to get them out the home, children grow up with them and normally enjoy making them roll into a tight ball.
