What have I been up to this weekend?

What else? Unless you been living under a rock, HiveFest was the talk of the town this weekend. Last year it was a bit of a disaster for me as VR has never been my thing. I had technical problems registering, hence I never got my HF5 badge, and I couldn't teleport myself anywhere. This year I fared a bit better.

My HF6 journey still started with hiccups. First, I couldn't find the computer to register. Luckily @macchiata came to rescue and took me there. Now I got my HF6 badge to add to my SFHF4 badge collection. Thanks Mac. Then my mic wouldn't work so sadly I never got to chat to Mac. It took me a couple of times to log in and out before I could hear or speak to anyone. Apologies if you said hello and I didn't respond. I wasn't ignoring you. Once I got myself set up, I lingered around the camp for a while and spoke to some random strangers. It was so weird.

I decided to explore the other venues and popped in the presentation area to listen to some talks. But the annoying thing was (due to me being so hopeless) once I left the presentation area and moved to the NFT room I could still hear the presenters talking. Don't get me wrong, the presenters weren't annoying, it's just having the speech in the background after I left. I didn't know how to turn it off. That was the annoying part because I saw @tarazkp and @thekittygirl in the NFT room and really wanted to say hello to them.

After quitting for the nth time I went back into HF again. I was really happy that I caught up with @sjarvie5, it was lovely to 'see' her again. Last year we didn't get to speak properly due to my mic issues, so we had a good chat this year. With Sara being an art lover, we went over to the NFT room. It was so cool there, and I love the range of NFT works from the community.

Suddenly I could hear music through my headset, I thought it came from the NFT room for a bit of ambience. However, Sara said she couldn't hear anything. Weird. The annoying thing here, was that the music was really funky cool. I wish I knew what it was as I'd love to listen to it again. With music bellowing out of my headset, I had to bid farewell to Sara and quite HF once again. Sadly that was the end of my HF6 experience. I wish I'd got the chance to meet and chat with more people, but VR really isn't my thing.

The other hype over the weekend was the Hive Punks. They were released on Friday afternoon when HF started. I found out about it through @travelgirl very early on, in fact she was the first one to mint straight after @themarkymark. I minted my first two and it took less than 10 minutes to come through. Half an hour later I minted a third one, and that took about half an hour to come through. After that, it really took off, and I hear it took 24 hours to come through. Eventually all ten thousand of them were sold out within 36 hours. If you didn't manage to get one..... too bad, but there's always the secondary market. In fact, in my December PUD Guessing Çontest, I will be giving one of my Hive Punks away as a special Christmas bumper contest as @martibis gifted me one of his. I believe what goes around comes around so I'm passing the kindness around Hive. Don't forget to drop by my PUD Guessing Contest on 1st December.

Hive Punk wasn't the only NFT that was launched during HF. The other one was the "bz" NFT set via dlux.io. This is a free drop, initially to all those who registered to HF and eventually to all active users. This is my bee. This one doesn't have a rarity score, not sure if this will be added in future. It will be interesting to see how all the develops over time.

Last and not the least, families are an important part of weekends. This weekend my niece invited us over for lunch. Her sister was there as well and between them they have three kids. I got to see three out of my five adorable and cheeky grand nephews. We sat outside the garden in front of the fireplace after lunch, roasting marshmallows, something I hadn't done for a long time.

Happy weekend everyone!!

Oh! I never saw you at Hivefest! 😕 I wish we could have connected there, that would have been fun! 😃

I love the 'fire' pics at the bottom of your post! 😍

I saw your name in the NFT room when I checked who was there, but I had to sort out my mic first, so sad I missed out on 'meeting' you there

such an eventful weekend, indeed! while I wasn't present at the HF,I made sure I didn't miss out on Hive Punks. Yours look so cool. I think I like Alexander Cook with his rainbow colored glasses. 😀 Love the fire photos!

martibis gave that to me, I think it's really cool as well. I like looking at the fire pic now as it makes me so warm!

I got a picture of you ! I thought I had the one when you were stuck at the main venue but this one is actually quite decent. It's sad that I can't talk to you.

Thanks for this Mac. Sorry my mic was messed up at the beginning, it was so frustrating, and thanks for taking me to the regristration.

Wow that was a busy weekend, Pauline. i couldn joined the Hivefest as some technical issues with my old laptop. I managed to watch two days on Youtube and it was great to know many projects and initiatives on Hive.

I came across the post about Hive Punks early but didnt know what to do with it so just ignore. Now I feel regret not taking any actions :(

HiveFesst is great way to catch up with people and the entire ecosystem,`hopefully we can go back to real life ones again soon, and you never know it may be in Asia!! The last one was in Bangkok.

The Hive Punks are fun, but I wouldn't worry too much about missing out, unless you have a very rare one which is worth a lot of money, it's really a novely for most people. You can always pop over to my PUD post on 1 December and enter my Guessing contest for a chance to win one 😀

Oh I see. Will visit your Post on 1st Dec :)

congratulations friend I would have liked to live the experience ...

The online event is open to everyone so maybe you can join next year

That was a weekend full of interesting experiences. I see a lot of people talking about Hivefest, but I still can't attend. And thanks to everyone's sharing, I understand it better. I'm looking forward to your PUD Guessing Contest on 1st December. Wish you a new working week full of energy.

You have a great week ahead yourself as well @kimloan

The Main Stage overlapping into NFT Showroom seemed to be just there. @bluefinstudios and I experienced the same. I went out into the Lobby to see if it was there too and it wasn't.

I kind of think that VR is still in early development (think early days of Steem) and hopefully will improve over time. It's kind of neat being able to attend something like Hivefest without having to travel. With it being a Microsoft centred product, I'm told it doesn't support Mac well at all.

Like from Steem came the better Hive, let's hope from Altspace will come an even better option.

Maybe that's why? Coz I was on Mac as well, to be fair, it ran a lot better this year, last year was hopeless for me

I still prefer the real life event as was fortunate to go to SF4 in Bangkok, but I appreciate not everyone can afford the time or money to travel, so the online event is a lot more inclusive. I wonder if they will/can blend the two in future

From what roelandp said I think the plan next year is for a hybrid setup. I like that idea. It's not likely I'd travel to one but would attend virtually.

That would be good, a hybrid, best for everyone. Hopefully real life ones will resume in 2022
