Women and Weekends.

Women.

Societies have come a long way from their counterparts in the previous centuries. If an ordinary 14th century person time-travelled to the 21st century, they probably could not have imagined the overwhelming amount of opportunities and prospects women of this time and age possess whether it be educationally, fashionably and even financially.

A lot of changes took place. For instance, women's fashion evolved from headdresses, bodices, corsets and full-on dresses worn even on a hot summer's day to crop tops, short shorts, and dresses that if worn seven centuries earlier would probably mistake the poor person as someone with loose morals, or in a worse case scenario, incite a horrific witch hunt. If you have ever watched Outlander, I'm pretty sure you get what I mean.

There may be a more pragmatic reasoning as to why women's fashion over time have become "loose".

Global warming seems to be a plausible suspicion for me. Women and global warming joining forces together resulting in fashion choices that would be scrutinized by conventional conservative societies.

Women showing off their women-ness-- the curves on their body, the wideness of their hips, and bosoms that would normally signal a flair-up of pheromones. But aside from the aesthetic side of things, there are more better upgrades.

Women are in their most vocal selves-- no longer as silenced as their 14th century counter-parts who were conditioned to live under the power, protection and most times, fear of men. I use the word fear because they weren't really given much choice.

That doesn't only stop there. When the reproductive revolution started in the 1950s, women were finally given a choice over their own reproductivity. Families were no longer at the risk of possible destitution due to far too many offspring when husbands and wives exercised their right to their carnality.

Now, women are given more choices. Wives are given more choices. Single mothers are given more choices-- over their own bodies, over their say in the government, over their own household.

Women have more freedom to speak without being given so much as a rebuff. I mean it happens, but at least it's not as sick and twisted as in the 14th century where people find it normal to physically "discipline" their misbehaving wives with their own belts that hang around their waists.

Yes, imagine being in your 40s and being "disciplined" exactly like how an Asian mother disciplines their 5-year old little child. I just hope they weren't made to kneel at a bilao full of mung beans, because that shit hurt.

This is our world now--

A world where women can afford to be loud, to be decision-makers, to be leaders, influencers, to be forces of nature beyond how much societies could fathom.

What an ordinary, working-class 21st century woman gets to experience at the moment are considered "living like kings" in the previous centuries. We have gone far as society development is concerned, and it's one of the many things to be grateful for.

Now is the best time to be alive, especially as a woman. Women are more educated now, more accomplished, making significant contributions in all aspects of society, and can afford the finer things in life during weekends. Laws have developed to protect women and defend their rights and opportunities.

Women are more welcome in all shapes, sizes, colors and social standing, and while there are still so much to improve on, there are also so much to celebrate for.

Cheers to women-- to the more silent players, the expressive ones, the more vindictive and cunning and cruel and just, cheers to the dreaming mothers, wives and hard-working sisters-- and the men who knew that they deserved more than what the patriarchal world had to offer.

Cheers to the hot-blooded women friends who possess all these traits whom I spent a great weekend with!
