No Drama Llama

A little bit if a different Saturday this weekend, as my wife's work had a family open day, so we hung out at her work for a few hours. Hotdogs, ice cream and some candy.

And Alpacas.

I don't know whose idea it was to have Alpacas as an attraction, but they were pretty cure and I liked their fluffy heads. Smallsteps and my wife were feeding them dandelions, which they loved and they were so happy to be getting a lot of attention from people.

And some hula.

And then, always a crowd favorite for the kids was the glitter tattoos, with Smallsteps choosing a butterfly series for her arm. I think they are a gateway drug and she will end up covered head to toe like a Yakuza hitman.

Interlude with some Alpacas, looking fabulous.

But perhaps the best part was getting to play a bit with this gorgeous puppy dachshund. We will dog-sit this little fellow in a few weeks for a weekend and I am looking forward to it. My wife has puppy fever already, but I think it'd be better if we hold off for a couple years until after we have travelled a bit as a family, and when Smallsteps can play a more active role in caring for it.

It was cute.

But so were the Alpacas, and we aren't getting one of them. And they have hair that can make a nice sweater.

After the family day, we headed to a garden store and bought some plants and herbs. It is a bit of a silly thing to do, as we have a lot of major things to do in the garden, so it is a but like putting lipstick on a pig, but at least the pig will smell like lavender.

We bought herbs to plant also - thyme, rosemary, mint and parsley - and I am liking forward to adding a bit to our salads.

I should eat more salad.

And, to finish the day, i went into the city with a friend to watch part of the USA v Germany game, which Germany surprisingly won, to progress to their first ever ice hockey world championship gold medal match.

I like it when the underdog wins.

Now, I am on the bus home, since I decided to have a couple instead of driving, like I usually do.

Tomorrow...

Gardening in the rain.

These are the pleasant moments that bring the family together in one way or another. Such a change of activity is a dosage for children, but adults are not left behind. Smallsteps' mum brought out her inner child with that hoop. Animals are tame if you have been tame with them. I am glad you had a peaceful and harmonious family day... We'll see tomorrow if it rains and enjoy the pictures in the garden.

Hi, teacher. Such are the moments in a family unit like the one you are discussing. Those moments are the ones that will remain in our memory book.

It is good to be a kid sometimes - something that I struggle with, unless I am playing with Smallsteps. I think I act like the annoying brother she doesn't have :)

How was your weekend?

Well my friend, I find myself between the border of Canada and the United States, specifically in Niagara Falls. It's my first time bringing my son Matthew to enjoy the colourful night and the music of the falling water.

That looks amazing!

I don't know who is cuter, smallsteps or those alpacas...

It isn't even a contest - but I guess the alpacas have their bad days too ;)

Oh, my, that's the best answer ever. I love your sense of humour! 😊

Definitely smallsteps because nothing is cuter then a human being in this world

because nothing is cuter then a human being in this world

I have to disagree with that.

There's plenty of human beings that aren't very cute.

Sometimes the alpaca or llama actually beats them in cuteness ;<)

I wonder what kind of plants and herbs you will sow, I think it would be difficult there for the plants/herbs need more warm days during the year.

Can only grow during the summer, unless doing it inside in the winter. However, most stuff grows here for the short summer period :)

And they have hair that can make a nice sweater.

Likewise 😆

Puppy fever is terrifying and something I am dealing with right now. However, we do travel quite a bit to different festivals over the course of the year, so it is the one solid argument that I can hold onto -- we travel too much to have a dog at this time. But eventually, we will slow our pace of travel and I will need a new excuse, but that day is not today.

Shame about the US losing to the Germans in ice hockey, I didn't see that coming either. But it is almost time to shift attention to the Women's World Cup, which is being played on your former home continent of Australia. Hopefully, our US women's team will continue to prove its dominance in the sport and bring home our 5th trophy!

I am glad Germany won - I think it is good for the game. I was hoping they would beat Canada as that would be even better. Though my "girlfriend in Canada" wouldn't be happy.

I wonder if they will televise the Women's WC here...

I love these types of outings! We have a lot of fun going to various farm and festivals, nothing fancy but a good time with the family. Sounds like y’all had a great time! Also love the little leggings small steps has, those eyes are a riot hahaha

Depending what happens in the summer, we will likely do a couple farm outings again. They are always a nice day :)

One of the reason kids are so expensive, is that there are so many cute clothes these days! :D

haha Smallsteps as yakuza - those butterflies are terrifying for sure.

I tried hula hooping a few years ago and, even though I was a champion back in the day, I could not keep it up for even one rotation. I thought I had lost the touch. Then someone gave me a larger, old-lady-sized hoop and viola! I could hula hoop again. Was your wife able to keep hers up?

those butterflies are terrifying for sure.

Deadly.

I tried hula hooping a few years ago and, even though I was a champion back in the day, I could not keep it up for even one rotation.

I can't do it either, though it is easier with a larger hoop I guess. I could barely fit in this one! :D

Was your wife able to keep hers up?

She had very little success, but with a larger hoop she can.

and she will end up covered head to toe like a Yakuza hitman.

Prison Break season six coming soon?

Alpacas and the dog looked really cool.

I never got into Prison Break - not sure why!

I really liked first two seasons. The rest not so much...

You are giving a quality time to your family it's very nice thing mostly people ignore this because of there busy lifestyle or something else, thanks for sharing your trip with us

No point having a family, if not spending time with them.

Sometimes you need to do the minor things because you can see the progress in that whereas the progress on major things looks so incremental it feels like nothing at all is getting done despite hours/days/weeks/monthsa of back breaking, soul crushing labour. Perhaps the herbs will encourage you to eat more salad XD

Yay for fun day out!

Perhaps the herbs will encourage you to eat more salad XD

This is part of the plan! I actually love salad, but I am not sure why I have so much trouble making it.

Sometimes you need to do the minor things because you can see the progress

Yep. I am in that phase at the moment. Need some small wins.

Everyone loves an underdog story.

Saw that in a clip just yesterday, about the Luton Town FC Stadium in England, people laughed at the surroundings and the closeness of it to neighbouring residents, and it's size too and I remember thinking, yes, I hope they win.

Anyhoo, I wouldn't describe alpacas as cute. 😄 Maybe cool by their looks and those sweaters that could be made off of their hair but not cute.
Nice shots BTW, good photography is always a delight.

Cheers!

If I have no dog in the fight, I always choose the underdog. My dogs are normally in that position anyway! :D

Anyhoo, I wouldn't describe alpacas as cute.

Their heads are so wooly!

😀 interesting.

Wooly they look. Never felt or actually seen one, just in pictures. And in the Nickelodeon show, The Thundermans, they came off as scary....

Family outing is very good. It has a way of bonding you all together
Im glad that you enjoyed your day. Also, your family members are cute

Did you have a good (so far) weekend too?

Yes, I did
I slept throughout the day

It seems like a perfect family Saturday, those hula, alpacas and beautiful butterfly tattoo on arm but alpaca is more cute 😹😍

Can you hula?

Ouuii demasiada ternura qué procesar 🙈

OMG, that's such a cute Dachshund!!

I always thought that you should get a dog when the kids are smaller so that they can slowly bond with the dog and learn how to take care of them. Especially being an only child, that's like their companion. Wish I didn't stay in a apartment though. First rule of dog ownership for me is that I need a garden, no indoor dogs for me please.

Those are some very nicely taken photos! 😍
I always love an underdog win too, always rooting for one and that makes it more exciting!
Glad to hear that you're drinking responsibly by not driving after 👍
