DIET WEEKEND... CACHAPAS WITH PORK!!!

Hello my dear friends of this fabulous community led by Mr. @galenkp. Here I want to present a wonderful meeting with family and friends where "La Cachapa" (typical Venezuelan dish based on corn), was the protagonist.

On Saturday at noon came to visit a couple of friends with their young children, we were all very happy to see them again, as we had about two years without seeing them.

When they arrived (by surprise, without warning) we had no idea what to do, and my daughter proposed to go to the farm where the jojojoto planting is very large (August is the month to pick jojojojoto here in Venezuela, since May the planting begins), and we all went there.

When we arrived we didn't know where to start, my daughter's husband sent one of the workers to take a considerable amount of jojotos out of the field and he did so.

After a while the man arrived with a sack of corncobs (jojotos) and I told them: -let's all participate in the making of these cachapas-. We got up and went to where the man was with the sack and he explained to us how to peel each one of those cobs and then shelled them and put them through the mill to make the mixture.

We only helped to peel the corn cobs, the farm workers shelled them, passed those grains through a mill and then prepared the mixture with cow's milk from the same farm, salt and sugar, mixed everything very well and began to lay out the cachapas on a preheated griddle.

Even the children participated in this beautiful family activity!

Jesus, the boy who was visiting us said; -cachapas without fried pork is not cachapa, hahaha. They brought a large piece of cochino (pork), seasoned it well and placed it in a pot with hot oil to fry it, along with some chistorras to accompany the pork.

In the meantime, we retired for a while from that place to have a few beers and talk about so many things that happened to us during those two years of absence.

When everything was ready they asked us if we each wanted a plate of food and we all agreed that they had better bring trays of cachapas, chopped pork and chistorras (a type of sausage), since we were drinking beers and then we were going to be very full, and so they served them.

The workers at the farm were very attentive when the tray of food was finished and they immediately refilled it, they also brought an exquisite cheese that was also made at the same place that same day.

We had an excellent weekend with our friends, everything was truly delicious. When we had had enough of eating and drinking beers, I don't know where a bottle of Jose Cuervo tequila came from and as an appetizer, I turned around and went to bed, hahaha.

I do respect those drinks. The next day I was told about the results of that wonderful bottle, several of them woke up next to the cows, hahahaha, with that I tell you everything!

Well my dear friends for the moment that's all I wanted to share with you about my weekend, thank you for reading it and we are always around for our WEEKEND stories, have a great day.
