Cheap, Hot Vikings!

Welcome to this fiery budget war deck! It packs an insane punch, it costs $20-$40, and it can be upgraded over time to some slightly better Vikings. Playing the cheap version still netted me 4-2 in Mythic weekend ranked, and both of the losses were comical "go first stream-roll" scenarios that I would've lost even with a $5k deck. (you can see a highlight of one of the losses in the first seconds of the video! Sheesh.)

Here's the complete guide on how to win with Vikings and three games to help give you an idea on how to win!

Upgrade Cards

While the deck is fine as is, you can always experiment with some more expensive Vikings or even convert it fully into a Viking deck and remove some of the fluff. (Though as you see in the video, that fluff can put in work!)

Some really nice cards that you can add to the deck are:

Ulfgaar, Drinker of Beers

Ulfgaar can pack a punch if you have enough Viking synergies in your deck. Every time you drop one, you get a blitz 1/1, which makes Ulfgaar worthwhile if you can even get a single 1/1. (4/4 of stats for 3 mana, plus 1/1 has blitz!) He has infinite upside from there!

Drop him on 3 mana + pip + Vanguard Axewoman = 6/6 worth of stats + 3/3 of it has blitz.

On turn 3!

Master Tactician (AKA the most handsome boy in all of GU)

image (32).png

For 2 mana getting a 2/2 with Protected used to be all the rage. That is, until Light was able to add 4x Light's Levy's to their decks.

However, if you can play around Levy (and Blight Bomb), this guy is always awkward to deal with. Stick a Battlebard +2 Strength buff on him and now he's immune!

More Budget Decks!

One of my goals now that Gods Unchained is finally starting to ramp up is to start covering more budget/new player friendly content, so if you liked this, let me know! More is on the way!

Until next time!

Love the deck, the gameplay is just amazing! It is so much fun watching while I am learning. Good evening!

You Have really interesting card

Hero-in-Training is a viking version of Warmonger Smith but he has 3hp.

Personally I'd rather have the extra health, but maybe running both is good too

Warmonger Smith. "It's an older card, but it checks out." Love to see it back. Smith + Shield used to be all over the place.

Love the vid!
