Back to Death Zombies!

Hello everyone,

So as you all know that I love playing control magic a lot nowadays and it's been my got to deck for a while now, I was thinking about how the meta always shift towards 1 or 2 decks that dominates the game and what might they be this week.

However, I could not come up with one deck that will be so present this and have a huge use rate. I would expect to still see some aggro nature since it is still viable, some deception is also possible as well as anubian decks that are annoying for control.

But the deck I expect to see most this week, is control magic itself because they have doing really decent lately and doing well against aggro decks except for anubians because of the wide early game removal option magic has from wide board to single target. Now despite my control deck being a little different, I was thinking whether I should play it or play something else this week.

And finally I have decided to go back and play zombie death this week again, add some MJ cards to it and see how it goes because I think it does really well against control for reasons I will be mentioning later on. So now let's head on and see how the deck is consisted:

The Deck

 "deck.png"

So of course it's a zombie death deck so it looks very much alike any other deck, it was actually a deck I used before but I added some MJ cards to it because I think they will do better. Let's see the new cards I added and why did I add them? What value do they bring?

New Cards Added

Bone Roller

 "bone roller.png"

This card is a new one released from the Mortal Judgement extension. I saw it recently and I figured it might do well in such deck if you were a little bit ahead. If you had a bit of a wide board with 3 or more creatures, and fate was by your side and they all got buffed this can end the game to your favor. Now I know it is like adding more RNG to the game thus more risk but isn't the game already have a lot of RNG from going first to starting hand? So I decided to believe in my odds.

Cursed Hoplite

 "curse hoplite.png"

This card is pretty nice after its rework. The first Cursed Hoplite can help take out an annoying creature, and the skeleton it spawns is annoying to kill. It also help more to have more creatures on board to get buffed by Netherswarm or Bone Roller thus making them even more annoying to take out.

Now let's talk about why I chose zombie death and why do I think it's really good against control magic in specific

Why Zombie Death this week?

Now seeing that a lot of control magic is being used, Zombies seems like a viable option for the following reasons:

Magic does not have relic removal

 "necro.png"

Relic removal is the most annoying thing a zombie player can face since it takes away the most important card he has, the necroscpeter. Now usually control magic deck does not hold relic removals in them which will keep the necroscepter there forever thus spawning infinite creatures for 0 mana each turn which is so annoying for any magic control player.

The Leech

 "zombie.png"

Zombie death deck is all about permanently spawning zombies as much as possible, which in it's turn brings a lot of leech and this can be pretty annoying for aggro decks especially if you got a little bit of a lead early game. In addition also to the huge ability of clearing board with literally creatures that you did not spend any mana for which makes zombies also very good against aggro. Now the relic removals can be a problem here, so this all about getting lucky in this case and not face a lot of them early to mid game.

Amazing removal spells

Now we all know that control magic relies a lot on late game annoying frontline creatures to block off the enemy from attacking their face and also deal damage to the opponent god with them. Usually the most used creatures at the moment are:

 "frontline.png"

And the amazing thing is that this deck have amazing answers for these threats that can easily be applied on them since they are not warded and then finish off the opponent. Imagine removing a Helian Elite with a 4 or 5 mana card! This also helps to do more face damage thus finishing off your opponent because you don't need to sacrifice any of your own, plus you can always use a 1/1 zombie for Void Flash.

Conclusion

So this is why I think zombie death would be the best option for me to play this week seeing how much control magic there are out there.

If the sanctum and the RNG gods were not totally against me these match ups should be easy to win if there was no relic removal in the sanctum early on. The deck also does well against nature and deception if they do not pop up their relic removals or counterfeit.

Now of course this is all theoretical by me how the deck performs remains to be seen after I finish all my games but choosing what deck to play for the week is becoming a big part of the number of wins you get to have in this game.

That was it for this one be sure to let me know what you think about this deck, and if you have any suggestions or improvements to it let me know because it has been a while since I played zombie and I might be a little rusty :p. Be sure to drop a follow if you're new and you like this post and I will see you on the next one!

Mad Love, Peace out <3
