My Son's Favorite Toy - Jollibee Stuffed Toy

Greetings!

When I less than ten years old I always wanted to have a beautiful toy car, a beautiful action figure, and a bicycle. I did not immediately get them but I did own at least one each of them until I became a teenager. The first that I owned is an inertia toy car, followed by an action figure, and then a bicycle followed suit.

And when it comes to toys we always have that particular toy that becomes our favorite until the time that we stopped playing with it.

As for me, my favorite toy is an action figure from the Star Wars franchise. The toy is C3PO but I actually do not know that I own a toy that is from the Star Wars franchise at the time. I just know that I fell in love with it because of its golden color and I can bend its legs, arms, even spin its head (if I remember it right about the head).

Now, decades later I realized that the toy that I owned is C3PO. Oh, how I wish I kept him. But it was lost. I do not know where did I put it.

Now that I have a son I can no longer buy toys for myself. All the toys that I buy now are for my son. And just like any other person my son has his own favorite toy. The toy is a replica of a fast-food mascot (a stuffed toy), but not only just a fast-food mascot, but it's also the mascot of the most famous fast-food chain in my country. The fast-food chain is well-loved and so popular that not even the world-famous McDonald's can trample it in its place as the number one fast-food chain in my country. The fast-food chain that I am talking about is Jollibee.

As can be seen in the first photo of this blog Jollibee is a cute mascot and stuff toy, isn't he? Not only that, the real-life mascot can even dance to the tune of the most popular dance craze on the internet.

The toy first came into our possession a few years ago when the fast-food giant sells a limited edition of the stuffed toy and we are very lucky that we got one. We bought the stuffed toy when we dined in on one of the fast-food branches. When I handled the stuffed toy to my son he was immediately all smile because he was able to recognize Jollibee. And from then on the stuff is always with him. If he is not playing with the stuff it is always nearby.

At one point he would ask me to take a photo of the stuffed toy just like the photo below. He put Jollibee inside his favorite bag and he told me to take a photo of it while he was wearing the backpack bag.

A few weeks ago as I am watching my son while he is playing Jollibee I noticed that he put Jollibee on top of a pillow just like in the photo below and started to mimic the action of his mommy while trying to sing a lullaby that my wife would always sing to him when he is a little younger. While he was trying to sing the lullaby he would gently tap the butt of Jollibee as if he is trying to make Jollibee sleep. I nudged my wife which is sitting beside me then I pointed to our son and we both smiled at each other.

Also, a couple of weeks ago while I'm on a day off I am again able to observe the playing behavior of my son. While he was playing with a wooden windmill and a paper windmill and watching a nursery rhyme at the same time (on a mobile device) I noticed he was searching for Jollibee, so I helped him in locating Jollibee. I found it and after I gave him Jollibee he sat on a table put both Jollibee and the two windmills in front of him (just like in the photo below) while he was watching a nursery rhyme. It was this moment I realized that whenever he is playing something he always makes sure to have Jollibee sit near him. And then I said to myself, I see, Jollibee is his most favorite toy because it is the only toy that is always with him. As a matter of fact, before I post this blog he would put Jollibee beside him when he sleeps.

At one time I also caught my son as if he is scolding Jollibee (just like in the photo below). I heard him speaking in his toddler words telling Jollibee not to play anymore because it is time to go to sleep. At this moment I again tried to get the attention of my wife and I pointed to our son, again, we smiled at each other. We smiled because he is telling Jollibee the exact words that my wife would always say to him when it is time to sleep. This kind of moment makes us parents very happy because we see this as a positive development when it comes to a child's brain development (the ability to remember things that a child sees and hears).

Another notable experience that I found very satisfying as a parent is when my son asks me to make a hammock for Jollibee. I cannot find a suitable material for the hammock so I told him I will just create one. But to my surprise, he hands over to me a basket-looking item and told me in his toddler words that I would just put a rope on it then tie it in a dangling position. It is very satisfying because his creativity and mental sharpness are now working even at the young age of four years old. As can be seen in the photo below I just put a blue rope on the basket-looking item then I tied it in a dangling position.

I think it's so cute how your son interacts with Jollibee and treat it as a real person!!!

Me too, I find it cute when he is treating Jollibee like a real person...
