Someone hacked our Hive account, please Help

What happened?

Hey hive community. Today is a sad day for me. A few days ago I felt into trap of some airdrop scam on Steemit. However, I quickly changed the password for Steemit and didn't even think it could harm my Hive as well. Well, long story short it looks like I had the same password for Hive as it was on Steemit. Looking technically, this could be better protected, like when you make a first log-in with your hive you make new keys as well. Another security I am missing with Hive and Steem is 2FA security with all withdrawals.

I was a good Bee but that's just not enough :(

How much we lost it?

Luckily there was most of funds on the saving account but they still got 459.178 HIVE and 169.651 HBD. Probably for some of you that's nothing but for me who earned all that by myself is a lot. Especially when we are getting about $2.00 per post (and even that if we are lucky with Curie - god bless her and the company)

How can we recover from it?

Do you have any idea how we could boost our Hive and get some bigger rewards? I do believe our articles are good, we put a lot of work into it and we take care to make best of photos. Where is that catch? What communities should we join? Please share with us good people. We would like to get our funds back and start with a new elan.

Thank you to all who can share any information. Stay safe!

I changed my passwords shortly after the hardfork.

Your story needs to be known by all. People need to change both their That loss sounds huge to me.

Has HIVE done anything to help you recover the stolen funds?

I admit, I personally feel uncomfortable leaving funds in online wallets and prefer the insured bank accounts for savings. If anyone gained access to my computer then they could make off with the crypto.

I don't think there is any way to recover funds. Yes, looks like this will be the only way. Put everything into savings or power automatically...

The blockchain is transparent. That means that we can see the accounts involved in the theft. I looked at your account. The money was transferred from your account into another named account. Funds from that account were then transferred into other accounts, etc.

Using SteemD.com and HiveBlocks.com is possible to see both the accounts that were hacked and those receiving the funds.

SteemIt and HIVE have to comply with certain money laundering regulations; so, I would not be surprised to discover that the groups had mechanisms for freezing accounts.

If it is possible to identify assets and participants in a theft ring then it is possible to get some funds back through the archaic legal system.

You probably won't get anything back, but it is worthwhile following the pursuit of the hackers.

you can use 2FA, if you know how to use multisig. but the problem here is not security, it's using a scam in the first place.

The passwords were the same since the Hive HF and was advised to change so they are not the same as in Steem. The stolen fund unfortunately are gone.

Join the communities that fit the theme of your posts. There are few Photography communities, food community or travel one. Try to post in one of those. Do not copy the same post to other communities.

I'm sorry to hear about that... but there has been multiple warnings from the top members in the community that we should change our keys right after the fork. I'm sorry but in this blockchain world, what's gone is gone. There's no way to recover it unless you personally know who did it and go hit him in the head with a baseball bat.

About your questions... I don't know and I wonder the same. Here I am making different articles pretty much every day to get 1$ or 2$... and there are some dudes who keep copy pasting the same post everyday for 3 years straight... and they earn $30 per post. Go figure. 🤦‍♂️

It's sucks that you fell into the scam and sadly there were quite a few of you.

With regards to your content, yes it is good and we at Pinmapple (formerly Steemitworldmap) have curated you in the past. The biggest issue with your account is zero engagement from your end. Your last comment (excluding the one below) was over three months ago, and you don't respond to people's comments to your posts. You also repost post including this one, not sure why you need to do that is that. These are two of the worse things you can do on Hive.

Creating good content is great but so is engagement, and you'll find that building your network on Hive helps to get more support. That's what makes Hive that much better than Steem and that's why most of us don't bother on Steem anymore.

Probably not what you want to hear, but its a fact here.

It sucks that you were involved in the scam and it's sad that quite a few of you fell for it.

In response to your question. Yes, your content is good, we at Pinmapple (formerly Steemitworldmap) have curated your travel content in the past. The problem with your account is your level of engagement which is pretty much zero. Your last comment (apart from the one below) was over three months ago, and you don't resond to people when they comment on your posts. It's like you just come here to drop your post and expect to be rewarded for it. The other thing is you've reposted a couple of posts recently, including this one. Other than abuse and plagarism, recycling content and lack of engagement are two of the worse things one can do on Hive.

Creating good content is great, as is engagement, and that matters a lot on Hive. That's what makes Hive better than Steem and that's why many of us no longer bother on Steem anymore.

Probably not what you want or expect to hear, but that how it works on Hive. Good luck.
