An happy Tuersday to all Hive people! Today we had a foggy morning and the sky was grey all the day, but after the work in te bookstore I had enough time to finish a new small artwork and so it was a nice day for me.
Some months ago (maybe 3-4 months ago) I shared with you one of my painting inspired by a famous artwork painted by the belgian surrealist artist Renè Magritte. I love so much the works of Magritte and so today I tought it was time to paint something about one of his famous piece: Ceci n'est pas une pipe! The real title of that artwork is "The treachery of images", but the most part of the people call it using the text written on the painting that means "This is not a pipe".
That famous painting is an interesting example of meta message where the artist seems to say that the thing he painted is not more a pipe, but an image. An image about a pipe.
Painting my pipe I "played" with a similar concept: the pipe is no more just a pipe, but it's an image of a pipe that is also a place where tiny figures live. It was really funny to think about it and to paint it, believe me! ^_^
It's an oil painting on 200 gsm paper in A5 size and, to be honest, I'm satisfied by the final result.
I also took a couple of pics during the process to share with you:
My hubby @paolobeneforti teached me more about different surrealist artists he love and sometimes I love to image something siilar using my own illustrative style. ^_^
I hope you like this new small artwork.
See ya soon and stay safe,
Silvia
