Alaska Range Topped with Clouds

Panoramic Alaska Range

But first before we get to the panoramic shot, I thought I would start off with a nice shot of a yellow poppy. Now you might, just might be wondering what does a yellow poppy have to do with a couple of panoramic shots of the Alaska range? Well actually nothing other than they were taken on the same day. So why? Well panoramic photo's just do not make for a good thumbnail picture, especially when they are long and skinny. So enjoy the thumbnail picture:

Most of the other flower pictures were a bust, such is life. Any-hows before we went to the green house we stopped at the Kenai Wetlands. There were a lot of clouds and some blue skies, and I wanted to do a couple of long panoramic shots.

The first one is is six images at 55 mm f/22 ISO 1250 speed 1/500 sec. I also used the two second delay and a tripod.

And a slightly zoomed in look at the same area only this time at 200 mm, all other settings the same as above, and a total of eleven images.:

One day I may get brave and try to upload a full 32 MB picture. Some detail is lost on the resizing and decreasing, but I lived so long with limited access that I don't want to upload a larger file than needs to be.

So that was how I spent a few hours this afternoon, and while the flower picture may not have been very successful, I did get some feathered and furred shots of birds and critters. A couple of them came out pretty nice.

Posted to OCD because even the big stores need support from the locals.

I think a bright and sunny flower is always appreciated. Lovely post, Bashadow:)

Thank you, Pano's just do not make good thumbnails. Poppies are always nice to take pictures of.

I agree the thumbnail does make a big difference. Under advanced options, I understand that you can choose another thumbnail other than the first shot.

Yes, that is one of the nice things on peakd, Also you can give a post a description that is completely different than just the title and first couple of lines of the post. (I really like that feature).
