Super Sales and Screw Up - Wednesday

in OCD4 years ago

Sometimes it feels like deja vu. I know it is a different day but the tasks are so similar that the days seem to blend together. Step 1 for the day was the squash which gave me just under 50. The plants have come around a bit better and have me just at my order for the week. On a major plus note this year is now my best ever for sales. I've blown past my previous best and have half the season to go!

The Jade needed to be picked again and I managed to get through 2 rows and about half of the other 2. In all I got 25 pounds so far and should get another 5 or so from the rest of the row.

The cooler is filling up but a bunch of it will be delivered tomorrow with the bulk of the beans going on Tuesday.

Bit of a screw up. I have been slacking on checking on the squash garden and it seems my timer had a dead battery. I REALLY REALLY hope I can bring them all back. I will be pretty pissed off if I lose them. I think I will be able to bring them back they just won't be as good as they would have been. There is a bunch of butternut, spaghetti, and delicata on the vines so there will be a good amount of squash, as long as they come back to.

The sheep needed a new bale which I rolled into their pen. Round bales are mandatory for me to have so that I can actually move them around by hand. Without a tractor I am not able to work with the big square bales and the idiot cubes cost a lot more than the rounds. This was the last of the 3 bales so I will have to get more in the next couple of weeks.

The red Malabar Spinach is doing great now that the heat of the summer has been going. The tendrils are reaching fast and the leaves are starting to fill in.

My 2 bushel basket gourd plants are kicking into gear and getting their grow on. I have grown them a couple times before but this will be the first time they will have ample space to grow. Before they have been in the main garden and tended to take over the area. This year they are on the end of the row in the pole bean garden so that I can run them along the outer fence which is strong enough to handle the heavy weight of the gourds. The only real problem then comes once I have the gourds because fall and early winter can be pretty humid so drying them out is difficult.

This morning I am going to go change out the controller on the squash garden to a more reliable one.

Bummer about the squash garden! I hope it comes back. Never heard of the gourds before....
