The crypto burger

To dream in isolation can be properly splendid to be sure; but to dream in company seems to me infinitely preferable.

Clive Barker

It's been over a year since I caught up in person with anyone from Hive and whilst interacting with people on the blockchain gives the impression of catching up it's not the same as doing so in person. That's why I jumped at the chance to meet up with @holoz0r who lives in my city, in fact only a handful of kilometres from my own house. He contacted me on Discord and in no time we'd set up a time and place and locked it in.

Being non-peopley means I try to avoid them where possible; I don't feel isolated when I'm not surrounded by people and am comfortable with my own company with just the occasional catch up with a single person or small group. I was keen to catch up with Holo though as I always get such good value from doing so. I sometimes feel a little crypto-isolated and he knows more than I do about it so it works out nicely.

We met at a burger place called Grilld and right away got to chatting but we stopped long enough to deploy a food ordering mission of course because, burgers!

We both had a chicken burger called the hot bird which is a grilled chicken breast with tasty cheese, jalapeños, roasted peppers, cos lettuce, Spanish onion, sour cream & chilli relish. Of course, no burger is complete without chips and we both went for non-traditional options, Holo the sweet potato and myself the thick cut, crumbed zucchini chips with sea salt. The images show my meal as @holoz0r's food was a little camera-shy. You can see his sweet potato chips and part of his arm in the photo above though.

The food was good, like very good, but it was the conversation that won the day.

We spoke mostly about cryptocurrency, a little about the blockchain, Holo's photography and working for a living which brought us back to cryptocurrency. I learned a few things, most of which made me do a double take around what returns were being achieved on certain things in the crypto-sphere, and got a good tip on the crypto.com VISA card which I've subsequently gone ahead and ordered as there's some very cool rewards for using it.

I'm fortunate to have my brother around, albeit in another hemisphere, to help me out with my crypto stuff; he's been a massive help to me. He's introduced me in the first place and stepped me through a few things that looked unnavigable to me, a crypto novice.

It's also been of such a great help to have people like @holoz0r around to meet with face to face and it's helped make things much easier and more comfortable. We've had a monthly Hive meet up in my city for a few years now, arranged and hosted by @mattclarke, and having the ability to face-to-face meet with like-minded crypto-people has been so great; I feel I've got somewhere to turn if I need help.

I enjoyed having a crypto burger with Holo and catching up. It made me realise the value and importance, to me at least, of those real connections in a person-to-person format and the comfort one feels at having some back up from knowledgeable people.

It would be good to see you at the next meet up, we might talk about splinterlands a lot though.

I'll probably be there. Some place and time I assume?

You've got my magic digits. Feel free to reach out and get in touch anytime. I'm more than happy to go and be non-people in public with you. Our shared disdain for the writhing mass of humanity is what draws us closer together as human beings.

Here's the empty plate...

Always good to have focus on what you have to....why to bother about others, when we have such delicious burger in front....😜....

I made a cardinal error, with my back to the door, I didn't need to worry about others. :)

Thanks mate, I'll do so. Also, thanks for your help with that other stuff. Got me sorted. :)

I have to get that what was on your plate community going too. :)

I'll repost the same picture again. People who read your stuff and the comments will be able to guess correctly.

I must get this community up and running.

It's so fantastic. All of us must have interacted with someone and received help while entering this chain. I would love to meet and meet these friends in real life. But I'm very busy with my job. Hopefully, we will be able to implement this meeting in the future.

Maybe you'll get to go to a hive meet up someday, it really deepens the blockchain experience.

Burger and crypto hehehehe 😁

Well, it was actually chicken, but we talked about crypto so...Seems to work. :)

The combination of crypto and chicken chipto😂😂😂

Meeting local crypto users, always learn from each other, nothing beats a person to person chat, enjoyed over what looks to be an amazing meal.

Took a quick look and suggested crypto/Visa not available in our region, what a pity still a long way to go!

Thanks for info share, have a great new week.

I have a Wirex VISA already, but like the sound of the crypto.com one as they pay back, in CRO token, when I spend on in including 100% back on the cost on Spotify and Netflix each month when I pay them with that VISA card. Pretty cool. The card is also a super cool metal one.

It's great to have some face-to-face contact as this crypto stuff usually does my head in.

Hopefully some time soon more will open up here in crypto, so many promises but no fruition that I have found yet.

Good to head bash sorting different uses out!

It’s kinda hard for me to imagine you as a crypto novice though.

Hmm, probably not novice I guess, just not an expert.

FML that burger look too damn good!!

It was bloody awesome! Those zucchini chips were also surprisingly good!

It's always good to have knowlegeable people around especially when you getting a new place..like crypto....it was good to have your brother (tarazkp) who guided you and help you stand and now a famous photographer @holozr to your rescue with all kind of crypto inputs...u really got a blessed company all the time.....👍👍.....do share few inputs to help other naive users around 😉

It's all quite complicated to me, I'll be honest. It's not that I'm stupid or anything, it's just so foreign to me. I'm getting there though, slowly. I'm really lucky to have a few good people around me to help.

I can understand....I am too unaware about digital currency and blogging...the biggest problem ...I was naive too and completslly in dark....no one to help me.....gradually I continue to be active....but couldn't make more friends on the platform...and if I look back it is almost 4 years...now...😁

Small steps move a person forward to where they want to go. 😊

So yummy, I Love the concepts @galenkp

Thank you kindly.

Sounds like you two had a great catch up.

That burger looked mmmmm good. Now I'm going to raid the fridge lol. Zucchini chips - this I would like to try.
I like the fact that Holoz0r included the empty plate photo, that's some great realism in food photography for a change lol.

I see Joan checked out the Visa card not available in SA, probably a good thing, I am not a fan of VISA cards, they have got me into too much trouble before lol.

Have a good one.

The burger was good for sure; I ate it all just to make sure. Didn't order a second. Wanted to though. :)

The empty plate thing is in reference to a new community I've been meaning to start called the what was on your plate community where one posts about what was on there with a photo of an empty plate rather than a full one. Just a spin on the fact people can't seem to eat food without taking a photo first. It's dumb. But don't think that'll stop me from doing it.

If I had a wish to give you today it would be zucchini chips. legit.

Galen that was the silliest thing I have read all morning. You must TOTALLY do it, but I would make it a guessing game where you post the empty plate with maybe one or two clues. The winner who guesses the meal correctly gets a prize.

It could get quite silly though, are you ready to have another nutcase community on your hands?

Why thank you, I certainly would love to give them a go. Maybe I should try make them here so I have an idea?

Silly is my middle name. Ok, not really, it's knucklehead, but for the purpose of this comment let's just work on the premise that it's silly.

I've been meaning to get this what was on your plate community up and running since that badass @bulldog-joy riled me up over it. It'll happen and I'll make Anna a mod so she has to take ownership of my nutbag idea also!

Make zucchini chips happen. Or any really, chips are legit. Slap chips works too. Didn't you make some recently?

Do it. I can't wait to see the threads!

Not a bad idea, chips as a side for lunch with something (I'll go raid the freezer now) is a solid plan :)

You just want to out do all my what was on my plate posts with your own!

Oh gosh come on Galen - you post a post every single day, it takes me like 4 days to write and edit one post. You must be confusing me with someone who is extremely good at multi-tasking and wonderfully efficient at running a household while trying to keep a 4yr old alive (and sometimes thriving) althewhile trying to not get too emotional about whether my socks match.

I very much doubt I'd even remember to take photos of the empty plates let alone the full ones 🤣

Sounds like you had a splendid time - Note to self: Get out and meet some people. Trying!!

It was good to catch up, been a while. I find that it's better to have a few people around than many. It's more manageable for me and through being selective I have less drama in my life. I hate drama. If I was in Cypress I'd hang out with you. :)

I'd like to see the day when crypto credit cards are not necessary and you could just pay Hive directly with a transfer of Hive from one account to the next....

CAFE HIVE
HIVE BURGER
HIVE HONEY

In the meantime we have to learn to eat NFTs and !PIZZA

@galenkp! I sent you a slice of $PIZZA on behalf of @mineopoly.

Did you know you can earn $VFT through the PIZZA farm? (1/10)

I think there's a lot of change on the way and I'm trying to get positioned to accept it. You know, I know people who tell me BTC is all a scam...I whip out my Wirex VISA and buy them a coffee...With BTC and move on. Lol.

(Not really, I don't use my crypto. But I could.)

I'm not afraid to use this. 😆

I've used my Wirex card for a small online purchase and and ATM for a withdrawal and EFT machine for a coffee just to test it works. And, it works. now I'm waiting for that moon thing everyone talks about. 😀

It sounds like a productive day :)

How on Earth is food camera shy!!! 🤣

It was a nice little catchup indeed. :)
