This Aceh traditional house has an esoteric meaning, as a symbol that the Acehnese are devout people of worship and religion. This house is like a stage, has supporting legs to avoid wild animal attacks and floods or stagnant water. The house is not only a place for shelter but an expression of God's existence even though God does not have a house.

This house made of wood can last up to two centuries. This house has a front porch which is used for receiving guests. Also has a central porch which is used as a place to gather with family members. In the central porch there is a special room used to bathe the bodies of family members when they die. There is also a back porch which is used as a place for cooking or the kitchen.

But now it is very rare to find someone building this house, apart from being expensive, also having difficulty finding good wood, the licensing is complicated. Maintaining customs and culture is complex and expensive. People now tend to build practical houses with materials that are easy to obtain.
