OCD Other Niche Communities Curation Report #16

OCD's support is expanding!

Hello everyone! This is the 16th compilation post of OCD's latest curation efforts. It has been known that OCD has been supporting leading niche communities under its Community Incubation Program. However, there are still a lot of other niche communities not supported by OCD. This curation initiative will help in supporting those communities.

This newest curation effort aims to encourage authors to post in appropriate communities even if those communities are not under the incubation program. This will also encourage users to explore more into the different communities in Hive.

How this Works

OCD curators and community leaders will find posts from other niche communities and recommend them for an upvote. Unlike those communities in the incubation program where curation is focused, this curation initiative is spread out. This will help find undervalued posts from smaller communities that deserve support.

This will highlight both the author and the community where the post is located. This way, smaller niche communities can focus on growing their subscribers and increasing the engagements within their respective communities. A small boost goes a long way.

Speaking of boost, here are the curated posts for this batch:

The root of immortality

If you have not heard about Giloy, then a simple google search will get you tons of sites telling the health benefits of it. Unfortunately, its hard to get it because its mostly available in forests. It's very popular in India, and you can get ready made juices as well. Baba Ramdev of Patanjali Ayurveda has made it famous and its a life saver for dengue fever. So just when I was searching to do some natural therapies, a friend called me and asked to collect these precious gifts. He procured it from someone from the forests, and I instantly went and collected them.

Treating with Neem Tree || Nature is the best healer

Neem tree is a very popular medicinal plant in Bangladesh. There are very few people in Bangladesh who do not know about neem tree and its qualities. It is common saying in rural Bengal that if someone has a neem tree in his house, it is like having a doctor in his house. That is, the qualities and benefits of the neem tree cannot be expressed in words. I am sharing in today’s post about an excellent treatment with neem tree.

Dibujo de una pera con sombras🍐/Drawing of a pear with shadows🍐

Today I made a drawing of a pear with shading. Normally to do this kind of drawing you need charcoal and a sketch pencil, but I don't have either of those 😂 so I used a pencil.

Afinia H+1 3D Printers - The Worst Printer I've Used

Afinia. A brand of 3D printers and scanners that you've most likely never heard from. And for good reason. They are over priced hunks of junk. (In my personal opinion.) They wrap their relatively flimsy 3D printers in a durable metal case, with dual ventilation fans for printing stinky ABS plastics but that is where the luxuries stop. Our school, up here in sunny Nunavut, purchased two Afinia H+1 3D Printers "The best of the best" I quote from the principal. I wish he consulted me first, though.

Coffee I'm Currently Drinking

Before the pandemic began, I'd say I spent about 50% of my awake time in cafes. Since I worked from "home" before it was cool/mandatory, I had a bit of freedom where I could actually be working from. Even though I get easily distracted and require a certain level of quiet (or white noise) to work, I was willing to pay that price for access to good coffee.

Awesome but terrifying gifts and a visitor

Someone I know is emigrating and he decided to gift me his Lopophora williamsii aka Peyote plant. I have never seen such a big one and I'm wondering if it didn't grow really fast due to a lot of fertiliser. Whatever the reason for its size, this beauty flowers every year so it's no baby, he had it at least 7 years and I'm terrified that I will kill it.

End of month Geocaching report: March 2021

Geocaching is a real life outdoor treasure hunt. People from all around the world hide boxes and containers tied to a set of GPS coordinates. These are called caches. Other people then go to these coordinates and find the caches, sign the logbook and put it back. There's millions of caches hidden all around the world. It's a great activity to get you going outside, discovering new places and being active. I've written a more in depth explanation in this post.
