Beauties of Azores: my tribute to the breathtaking landscape of Sete Cidades

in OCD4 years ago (edited)

Hi there my Hivean friends and followers!

When I created my Beauties of Azores series, I wanted it to be a weekly travel series where I would share the extraordinary charm and appeal of the Azores Islands with you through my photos.

Then, unfortunately, the coronavirus craziness got in the way, preventing me from contributing to the series on the planned weekly basis. We were kept under a very strict lockdown for long months and it was very frustrating for me not to be able to go out and enjoy and appreciate all the beauty of the Sao Miguel Island.

Therefore, just before leaving the island, when the lifted restrictions allowed us to do so, we decided to go for a last, farewell trip to say goodbye to the places we loved the most. It was important for me to take this trip so that my last memories of the island would be nice and positive.

The island boasts many amazing places but it´s the Sete Cidades Volcanic Lakes Complex that made the biggest impression on us so we headed out there. I have already written a lot about this wonderful place in many of my previous posts here on my blog and I don´t want to repeat myself so let me just pay tribute to this captivating part of the island through these 25 photos that I took there.

Some of the views might be familiar to you from my older posts but this time around, we also hiked up to places we had never been before so a lot of the following sceneries were completely new to us.

I hope you enjoyed this special photo collection dedicated to the natural beauty of the landscapes surrounding the volcanic lakes of Sete Cidades on the Sao Miguel Island. It probably is the very last episode of the Beauties of Azores series so thank you for your attention guys. I hope I managed to meet the original goal of the series, which was to promote the beauty of this remarkable Portuguese archipelago.

Thank you, Sao Miguel, for being our home for some 7 months. I hope the beautiful memories of all the stunning places that we got to see there will prevail over the memories of the hardships we experienced while living on the island.

Esperamos vê-lo novamente em breve, Açores. Obrigado por tudo!

Since this is probably the final part of the series, let me wrap it up with links to all of the previous episodes of the series so that people who are interested in the Azores can find everything in one place. The posts are ranked chronologically as they were published on my blog.

Looks like Azores are just the way I like it. It remainds me of my homeland a bit with all this greenery.

Thanks for sharing and I will try to plan a travel on Azores in the future and when I will be doing this, I will stop by and ask for tips :)

Obrigado amigo ;)

De nada! 😁

Wow, amazing collection of photographs. The place looks so beautiful like no man's land. Should live in a place like this 😊

Thanks buddy :) Well, the Azores haven´t been affected by mass tourism yet and now, in the post-corona times, they are even more quieter than usually ;) So yeah, it feels like a no man´s land :)

Vše krásné je uvnitř bývalých sopek :-). Ta zeleň je úchvatná.

Je to tak, sopečná krajina má zvláštní kouzlo. Sopečná půda je prý velmi úrodná, proto ta zeleň ;)

Gorgeous photos!

Thank you Sofia :)

Such superb green landscape views glad you got to see the beauty of the island once again before you left 👍

Thank you :) Yeah, I am really glad we decided to take this trip, even though it was not easy to get there. We will keep these sweet memories forever :)

I am sure it was a nice way to say good-bye to the island 😉

So much green, so much freedom, so much health! I have no doubt people who live in that place have a healthy life :)

That´s right :) Definitely one of the most pristine, relaxed and stress-free places I have ever been to. I think you would love it there :)

What a bunch of beautiful and amazing landscapes photos!

Thank you, I am glad you enjoyed this collection :)

Hola, exelentes las fotografias y los paisajes, es como un sueño hecho realidad, gracias por compartir, saludos.

Gracias :) Saludos.

Wow, these photos are amazing, so lush and green, you definitely gave it justice. The volcano lakes are pretty interesting to see. I guess that corona thing pretty much disrupted everyone in some way shape or form, somehow someway, we will all emerge with a different level of awareness we did before, at the very least appreciate the little things so much more. Thanks for posting this amazing wonder.

Thanks for this nice feedback :) I am glad you liked the photos, it´s a very special place indeed. And yeah, the events of the past few months will surely change many people´s mindset, including mine... We just tend to take too many things for granted...
